The Chick-fil-a dilemma
We've beaten the crap out of it over the last 50 years, and we're paying the price. Judging by this thread, we'll continue to denigrate it, further demean it and finally demolish it. 50 years ago, it was perfectly legal in the United States to deny a black man the right to marry a white woman. If ending stuff like that means we've "beaten the crap out of" traditional marriage, then I say keep f***ing swinging. The bold is traditional marriage. Wrong. It's biblical marriage. Traditional marriage was between a male and a female of the same race. Get your facts straight. Actually, the argument can definitely be made (and you know it has been made) that some parts of the bible don't look favorably on interracial marriage. But people pick and choose the bible.

Who is going to renew their season tickets next year ?
Nope. But for totally different reasons than already stated here. Not even a partial plan. Just buy at the box office or on StubHub when we want to go. I'm with Bob on this one, I don't see the point of renewing my package when I can get better seats at a discounted price. The only down side I could possibly see is not being first in line for playoff tickets, which I think we all see isn't really an issue. Well, I also think it has something to do with him living like 2 hours from the park. In my case, I'll probably be downgrading, but it depends on the off season.

Carlos Lee Has Spoken To Marlins About 2013 Return
Well, the main problem there is that OPS put too much of an over emphasis on slugging. Lee has a .370 OBP with us. Lomo has a .308 OBP. We're not talking a huge sample size or saying it'll be sustainable, but point it as him playing only slightly above Lomo is a misrepresentation in my opinion.

I'm in. I have completely ignored fantasy baseball since my life got way more involved right at the beginning of the season but football takes way less effort.

Hanley, Choate to LA for Eovaldi, McGough
He's f***ing garbage! still batting .246 someone lock this f***ing thread! 790theticket said .225 in LA--don't know that is true. But if he is worse there than here, GREAT MOVE. Even for a bag of peanuts. Just glad I don't have to watch him half try to do anything. Not a huge sample size but .238 as a Dodger if you must know.

I still don't understand what happened with HHH/Steph and Heyman/Lesnar. I think I need to see it 27 more times.

Passan: "Marlins to cut payroll next year, blah, blah..."
Can we get a Passan rule in here? Like any post that is Passan based immediately gets a "Passan Says" tag in the title so that I know to ignore that bulls***?

Marlins Players happy Hanley is gone
Could be any of a dozen or more guys. Likely not Reyes, Bonifacio, Mujica, LoMo or Buck, they were either quoted or noted as getting personal text messages from Baby Hanley. Although that doesn't rule them out, that could have been a little protection from Navarro for the "anonymous" guy, who he obviously talked to at some length. “There were a lot of smiles’’ in the Marlins clubhouse Wednesday morning, happiness because a player disliked by many in the organization — but protected by the front office for years because he was producing — was finally gone. I'll guess 20+ guys were smiling. For good reason. 20? I didn't realize that much of the team was comprised of white guys! Well, it was probably a white guy since it seems that divide was especially well etched for Hanley. Probably wasn't Lomo, as it was Manny Navarro and not Juan C. dropping this one. Buck seemed to like him, so it won't be him. Buehrle doesn't like talking to the media, so it's not him. I'm in agreement with the short timers, rooks, and random BP guys statement. Yeah, probably Dobbs.

Jeff Pasan's take on the teams moves/motives.
lol what an awful article...i'm sure they planned that Bell, Reyes and Hanley would be underperforming and that Lomo and Gaby would take giant dumps on the field all year and that Buck wouldn't even be hitting his weight...IT WAS A PLAN! an evil scheme...awful awful article This team needs to find some players to build around, and then keep them long term. This constant rollover of players makes it hard to build a fan base. We built around Hanley for 7 years.
- What the hell am I gonna do with this thing now?

Hanley, Choate to LA for Eovaldi, McGough
Alejandro De Aza. So important that people forget his last name. Also, Cody has played 67 games for the Red Sox and I'm pretty sure their DH's name rhymes with Bavid Bortiz.

Hanley, Choate to LA for Eovaldi, McGough
It'll be f***ing hilarious if we after all of this, we manage to put together a huge surge and make the playoffs. Like giving Bryan Petersen and Solano more playing time is the secret of our success. Won't happen, but that would be hilarious. Anyway some quotes from Hanley: Hanley to fans: "I still love them... They're always gonna be in my heart." Hanley: "At the end of the day it's business... and you just try to do the best you can to improve." When asked if he felt he was gonna be dealt when he left the ballpark last night Hanley said emphatically "Never." Hanley: "I think I gave my heart here." Visibly emotional about the trade to LA and about leaving the Marlins. "I want to thank the Marlins for giving me the opportunity to play in the big leagues, for believing in my young talent." -Hanley Ramirez Hanley before leaving podium: "See you guys in two weeks!" Oh god, we have 6 games vs the Dodgers next month....

Hanley, Choate to LA for Eovaldi, McGough
This is a PR nightmare for the FO. They probably don't care though. I don't know why people are downvoting this. PR could easily end up being the worst part of this. If this was an FA who was hitting under .250 over the last two years and had $37.3M owed to them, nobody would be angry. It's only because it's a guy who's been a face of the organization since he won the ROY 6 years ago.

Hanley, Choate to LA for Eovaldi, McGough
In unrelated news, Jose Reyes has been scratched from today's game with swollen eyes and a broken heart. "Come play with me in Miami! We'll be bestest friends and I have a long term deal! We'll play together forever!"

Ideas from a frustrated fan (Warning Long post)
Hanley Ramirez is the definition of overrated. Stares at his home run for 10 seconds at home plate. Even when I know he is on deck I cringe. Solano - I watch this guy (though he's no Babe Ruth) with HITS in the gap, down the line.... I use him as an example because this guy does not seem to show off. Hanley is a clubhouse problem. With uggla, lomo, mckeon, see the trend? Complaining about moving to third. Time to go, man. Trade him now. Even if he plays us 6 to 18 times a year and does above average, let him be someone else's problem. Yeah, McKeon loved Hanley's work ethic and talked about it all the time. Lomo was the person McKeon had a problem with.

Ideas from a frustrated fan (Warning Long post)
Just saying, Chris Hatcher only became a pitcher last year and he already has 13 major league apperances. I wouldn't say he "has never been given a decent shot in majors". Also, Montz is hitting .243 in the hitters paradise of the PCL.

Quintero signed to minor league deal
Time for the Astros fan to chime in! I've seen a ton of Quintero, or at least it feels like I've seen a ton of him in the same way 5 minutes stuck in an elevator feels like an hour. He's basically Mike Rabelo with a stronger arm and a knowledge of the basic rules of baseball. He doesn't hit for power or average. He doesn't walk. His career OBP is like .040 lower than John Buck's is right now. So if you want Mike Rabelo with an extra 5 runners caught a year to be our starting catcher, feel free. I, on the other hand, think that sounds like sh*t.

The Franchise
I thought the show was pretty good, for the first episode. I would kinda like to see a little less of the upper echelon of the FO and some of the "peons." That's probably not gonna happen tho. And some players didn't embrace this whole thing. I saw a quote from Behrle saying they could have done an entire hour on him being creative in dodging the cameras. Well, to be fair, Buehrle famously (or infamously) absolutely hates being on camera. He, as much as any player I've ever heard of, hates even doing those interviews that Fox does during and after games.

Your Thoughts: Miami Marlins Possible Host of 2015 AllStar Game.
2015 there;s no doubt it either coming to Miami or Washington. Period. I 80%/20% Miami The only "snag" could be that I believe MLB wants to use Marlins Park in the upcoming "World Baseball Classic" and if they do, they may feel that's "enough" to satisfy the fans & ownership down here. When will they award the 2015 & 2016 games ? Because unless attendance stays up & steady, Selig could use that as an excuse to not give it to us. If they award it after this year then we'll be okay - but you can already see the attendance slipping (for good reason the team is playing crappy) this year. If we have another bad season next year I can see major problems with attendance starting next year. Selig does not want an excuse. He wants us to have it. There is no other reason that our ownership seems to be so confident that we will have it in 2015.
