NFC Championship Game
This just in from NFL Network Total Access: Eli Manning has earned $250k for each of his playoff wins. He'll earn another $500k for beating the Packers and another $500k if he wins the Super Bowl. Also, he's getting hitched in March.

What's the latest status report on LT? He says he'll be ready. Questionable with a hyperextension of his knee. As for Rivers, he's questionable too. Sprained MCL.

MACWORLD 2008
I wish I could play with someone's Mac laptop for a week or so to see if I would actually consider buying one. Go to the Apple Store at Aventura Mall. From what I've heard the major downfall with that machine is the RAM, HD and Battery are sealed up like an ipods. Serious negatives, for sure. Might as well beef up the warranty.

NFC Championship Game
Conditions for the NFC Championship Game are going to rival the Ice Bowl and the Freezer Bowl. The temperature at game time will be 0?F if they're lucky.

AFC Championship Game
Gametime temperature will be around 20. Maybe. It may or may not snow. If it were in the 30s and blizzard conditions, with a 100% healthy LTII, I may give the Chargers a chance. But as cold as it's going to be, I don't think they have a chance in Hell. 18-0 for the Patriots after Sunday afternoon.

MACWORLD 2008
I really wish I had bought Apple stock two weeks ago like I planned. It was a mixed bag, but the good stuff is really, really good. The bad stuff (namely Time Capsule) will never be heard from again. EDIT: Apple TV is relaunched on the Apple Store. They'll also have a 160GB version now for $329. The 40GB original version is $229. With HD content now on iTunes, it may finally be worth getting an Apple TV.

So, the gist of it: 1) Time Capsule (which is really just an overpriced wireless external hard drive) 2) New iPhone apps, but no 3G. And you can put iPhone apps on iPod touch. For $20. (people at the convention didn't like this part) 3) Movie rentals through iTunes devices, including HD rentals. ALL STUDIOS INVOLVED! Free iPod versions of movies on bought DVD discs (Family Guy: Blue Harvest is the first). 3a) Apple TV upgrade so it's more disconnected, will show movie rentals, free upgrade to current owners, new low price ($229) for new owners. 4) Macbook air. The biggie (pun intended). 13" screen, only 3/4" thick, 2GB RAM, 80GB HDD or 64GB SSD, Wireless-N and Bluetooth. $1799 to start.

MacBook Air starting at $1799. Add $99 for an external SuperDrive. Pre-order now for shipment in two weeks. And some stuff to make environmentalists happy. To pricey for me, not spending 1799 for something that doesnt have an internal drive Not even with 5 hours battery life with WiFi on and active?

http://live.gizmodo.com/ Love blog of the event. Thanks. Apple.com says they have a live webcast, but they don't have a link to it. Also on Gizmodo, they have some sort of Apple TV update, but it's a software update that can be used by any current Apple TV owner as well. Price down to $229 too.

The online Apple Store is closed, so obviously there's going to be something new hardware-wise.

Freezer Issue
Is it a side-by-side fridge? Nope. Freezer on top. You only left the fridge portion open, but stuff in the freezer thawed too? Sounds like something in the cooling system broke to me. Hopefully your defrost works.

NFC Championship Game
I'd wager that the majority of unbiased fans will root for Green Bay. There is always a sympathetic trend toward the 'underdog', which in this case is 38 year-old Favre. Even though he's playing like a kid again, everyone knows this is probably his last chance. This isn't as big as John Elway's "last chance" in Super Bowl XXXII. Brett has won one before. That, and I hate Eli for his feminine features. It's the "Manning face", isn't it? :mischief

Guitar
So I just bought a $200 Fender yesterday, but I'm having second thoughts. My main point of concern is that I am left-handed, and the obvious bias against south paws suggests that I will have to carry my guitarra with me everywhere to ensure I'll have an instrument to play. So, should I learn right-handed? Is it difficult to go against the grain here? I'd rather have the universal power to take over any guitar at my disposal rather than just hope there is a left-handed version available. This likely has very little credence, but I'm right-handed and I play Guitar Hero left-handed. It might be easier to learn to play right-handed, so you can use your left fingers to control the chords and your weaker right hand to strum.

Juno
I heard there were some faint voices (most likely from people that didn't see the film) that were decrying it for "glamourizing teen pregnancy". Shouldn't those voices be praising it for promoting adoption over abortion?

PETA goes too far
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,322671,00.html PETA launched a new "Sex Talk" commercial Monday drawing a link between unwanted teen pregnancies and animal spaying and neutering...and they're airing it in Jamie Lynn Spears' hometown. The 30-second ad features parents who encourage their daughters to become sexually active. When one daughter asks her mother, "What if I get pregnant?" she responds with "pop out all the kids you can" and says, "If it has a pulse, you should be wrapped around it!" The ad will air twice a day through Friday during "Good Morning America" in Kentwood, La., where the Spears family resides. Spears, the 16-year-old sister of Britney and star of "Zoey 101," sparked controversy last month when she announced she was pregnant. PETA's president Ingrid E. Newkirk said in a statement, "Just as Lynne Spears is under scrutiny because of her underage daughter's pregnancy, people who fail to spay and neuter their animals should also be feeling the heat." The commercial concludes with, "Parents shouldn't act this way. Neither should people with dogs and cats. Always spay or neuter." On its Web site, PETA points out the reason for the human-animal link, stating "one female cat can create 420,000 cats in just seven years, and an unneutered male cat can father limitless litters of kittens. "Unwanted dogs and cats who never make it to animal shelters are abandoned and left to fend for themselves on the streets, where they are often subjected to cruelty and suffer from starvation, diseases, or injuries." "If it has a pulse, you should be wrapped around it!" Should that kind of euphemism be used during the morning hours? Seriously, WTF? Do they bother thinking about what they are airing? Or should they have gone the full-disclosure route and added "the more babies for PETA to murder"?

LTII and Philip Rivers are both having MRIs done today. They may have paid too high a price to get to the AFC Title Game. And as for Eli: I say he's saving his coughing-up-the-game for the Super Bowl.

Internet question
You need a router. You are correct, sir. But get a Linksys router. One with a built-in firewall. It'll kill virtually any chance you might have of getting hacked.

World's Cheapest Car Unveiled
The potential impact of Tata's Nano has given environmentalists nightmares, with visions of the tiny cars clogging India's already-choked roads and collectively spewing millions of tons of carbon dioxide into the air. Environmentalists can be such a**holes. Oh no, billions of people reaching a decent standard of living? The horror! Does it matter? India is exempt from their beloved Kyoto anyway. They have no right to complain. :mischief

But I wasn't ganging up on T.O. It sounded funny, but I didn't think he was insincere. I think he really cares about his Cowboys teammates.

If it's his house, then he should claim the self-defense law and get the charges dropped. He couldn't even be sued if they find like that. If it's not his house, then he should be quick to settle. :mischief

Awwww, TO was crying about the thought of Tony Romo getting the blame. TO said they lost as a team, and not to blame Romo.
