NFL Playoffs Discussion
Considering the volume of discussion in the NFL threads lately, my plan is to open this one just for the knockout rounds, then not open a new one until after the conference championships for the Super Bowl. The Wild Card round of the Playoffs is upon us. On Saturday, Washington will continue their quest for vengeance in Seattle, and Jacksonville will try to make it Groundhog Day in Pittsburgh. On Sunday, Tampa Bay will host the Football Giants, while the Chargers try to break their home-playoff-game losing streak against the Titans.

I have a new baby!
Remember that a Prius costs several thousand dollars more than a Corolla, too. But Prius seems to be cropping up a lot lately. I've seen a ton of them on the road up here. I myself have a Corolla (35 MPG), and I'm holding out for the Corolla Hybrid.

Benazir Bhutto assassinated
How far has Pakistan fallen that Bhutto was the face of democracy there? She was a crook as well as a tyrant in the making, and now as a martyr she gets a free pass from the west, but will gain no such treatment in South Asia. Musharraf is going to get blamed regardless, either for doing the deed (which I doubt he did since it is political madness) or not providing enough security (which no matter how much was provided, it can't stand up to the result). The next 2 weeks will say a lot. If Musharraf holds the elections anyhow, he will face huge protests. If he cancels or delays the elections, he will face huge protests, and likely riots. If he declares a state of emergency there may be active insurrection. Regardless, Pakistan is f***ed for at least a while. Actually there's also Nawaz Sharif, but he's being an idiot and boycotting the election now that Bhutto's been killed.

What did you get for Christmas?
I got $200 cash from Grampa (I spent part of it on a Nintendo DS and Brain Age 2), a $25 Wal-Mart gift card from an uncle, a Rubik's Revolution from an aunt, a $25 Best Buy gift card from my sister and brother-in-law, and a pair of Crocs, a new Rays BP jersey, a big pictoral book on the first 50 years of NASA, a few sports-related DVDs and a 26" LCD HDTV from my parents. I got my parents tickets to the Rascal Flatts concert in Orlando, my sister a $50 gift card to Olive Garden and a $25 gift card to Regal Cinemas, and my grampa some books on travelling to Berlin (he served in Europe during the Cold War). I also got some gift certificates for my boss and a coworker. The only thing I didn't get that I wanted was a Houston Dynamo home jersey.

Benazir Bhutto assassinated
http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/1...hecking-al.html al-Qaeda may be claiming the attack. No doubt it was probably al-Qaeda. I would think so. It would be political suicide for Musharraf to involve himself in that. It may be political homicide actually. He's the one many are blaming regardless.

This was supposed to be the 1/6/08 cover. And she was right.

Benazir Bhutto assassinated
Sadly, this wasn't even a question of "if," but "when." Unfortunately, I have to agree. And a lot of people share that sentiment, too. On CBS they just had a guy that said he was surprised it took this long.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/12/2...arif/index.html The terrorists seek martyrdom. And yet, they have made a martyr among their enemies.

For Those Who Are Unhappy With Current Owner
This is a serious catch-22, as if more people show up, it gives the owner more money. However, revolts against owners have worked in Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh (put quotes around "worked" for Pittsburgh, as their CEO just recently resigned, so we don't know what the new CEO will do) in getting new controlling ownership.

NFL Week 17 Discussion
Hope everybody had a happy holiday. The pursuit for perfection hits a turning point at Giants Stadium on Saturday Night as the Pats seek to become the third team ever to finish a regular season with no losses and no ties. The final pushes for the playoffs are on. Tennessee and Washington are the ones that control their own destiny. But the Redskins have to host Dallas. And the Titans have to go to Indy for the last regular-season game in the ol' Hoosier Dome on Sunday Night. The 'Skins can still get in if they lose, but Minnesota and New Orleans would have to lose also. For the Titans, it's do or die. Die, and it's Cleveland, win or lose. Jacksonville and Tampa Bay don't have to worry about the playoffs. The Jags will cut their fangs in Houston, and the Bucs will sharpen their swords at home against Carolina. (Can Tampa Bay get the #3 seed if they win and Seattle loses? Nope. Thanks for the help, guys.) The Dolphins don't have to worry about the playoffs either. Or locking up the #1 draft pick for that matter. They take on the Bengals in a game with no other meaning than to try and avoid becoming the first one-win team since the '01 Carolina Panthers.

JaMarcus Russell shouldn't have held out. :mischief 49-11 Jaguars. If it got him more money, Im not so sure you can argue against it from his standpoint. Insert unnecessary face here. You must be a Ryan Leaf fan.

Another Disney Death
-Worker died at Animal Kingdom Falls, hits head .. could happen anywhere IMO. -Man died at Magic Kingdom Falls, slips, lost balance, another "could happen anywhere" -Man died on Disney bus Heart attack, anywhere.. -Man died on Expedition Everest Perhaps EE played a small role in his death, but he still could have had it occur anywhere None of those deaths would cause me to not go to Disney because its "not so magical" .. freak accidents at best that could occur anywhere. Actually freak accidents at worst. More than likely "acts of God".

Putin Named Time's 2007 Person of the Year
Putin is a massive douchebag and Russia in all its various incarnations has been a subpar lame-ass country that has sucked at its proverbial life for the last millennium. I also heard last night that they have a real problem with low fertility rate, as only 1 in 3 Russian women have even one child. We're up to 2.1 children per mother. i think that's a better problem to have than here where 16 year-olds pop out kids like there's no tomorrow. Teen pregnancy rates are 2/3 the level they were in 1990. Currently they are 41.9 per 1,000 for ages 15-19.

He should take the donation and use it on a donation to the UNCF. Now that would be hilarious. He could ask them to name a scholarship after the donator. :mischief
