Jacque Jones Called Up
Is he gonna lead-off or what? I'm not too sure with Hanley struggling and all.

5/22 Postgame thread
the marlins made the natives out here very restless - everyone is complaining about how they can't hit on the road and were shut out by no-name pitchers and a smoke and mirrors team no one, myself included, expected wins over both haren and webb - after the last two series I was feeling that they would maybe get 1 of 3 love the sweep and will keep me smiling in the office for a while Its the Diamondbacks who were exposed if anything. Their line up is not nearly as strong as they thought, although their pitching is just as advertised. But remember, like all fans in baseball, you never give credit to the other team for beating you :thumbup Don't say that. Tell him the Diamondback's offense is great. Tell him we shut-out that great offense... ...Makes our pitchers sound even more godly. :mischief I'm on a high right now. A comment like that puts a dimmer on our great pitching.

Daily Roundup 5/21/08
I'd love to see De La Cruz and that 100mph fastball in this starting rotation next season.I think we already have our future closer in Lindstrom. I thought Joe Nelson was gonna be our future closer? He's doing well isn't he? Lindstrom helps nicely with those 7th & 8th inning holds.

Dreams coming true...
I remember when I was kid I would regularly have a dream where I fell off some cliff and landed face first into the ground. Never came true but I've been told that I would flail at times in my bed then finish off with a small jump equaling the impact. Most likely me thinking I'm falling like a meteor towards the ground. So to some extent, my dream came true. ^_^

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
I hate Spielberg movies, I hate Indiana Jones, and I really hate that monotonous theme song. I'll most likely pass on the film.

Heat get the #2 overall pick
Theres speculations that the Heat might trade their 1st round pick.... If it ain't instant success in a can then don't risk it Heat! Trade Haslem if someone needs to go. Great guy but we could probably get some nice stuff in return for Haslem. Only let him go if we get Beasley though, which I'm pretty sure will happen..... sadly. :boo-woo But When Beasley starts dropping 30 for us... :brigginbounce

Nolasco is just a stud
Hopefully we'll have a "Miller is GODLY!" thread popping up late-night tomorrow. :thumbup

FSN Post Game
:mis2 ...I'll just say no. XP All fun aside, are you talking about the post-game conference?

Hanley
I think Hanley in the 3-hole would be best for the Fish. You know he'll get out of his funk soon enough. Hermida isn't reliable enough to place him third in batting order. Anyways, Jones looks to be our lead off hitter.

5/21 Postgame
Ricky was amazing tonight. Pitch for pitch, he took on the challenge that is Brandon Webb and did one he!! of a job. Nice to see us take two from the "best team in baseball." BTW...a BIG FU goes out to Baseball Tonight. Sure we win the game, but no highlights of Ricky, and of cause they have to show how amazing Webb is afterwards, even though WE won. Whatever... Lemme guess, another episode of "can he do it" then they display how good he was, but then they show a Ross HR, and say "Webb loses his first" and fail to note that we actually won, and just say it from a "nobody likes the Marlins" and "lets jump on the bandwagon" point of view? LOL @ Baseball Tonight and Steve Phillips.... Webb losses, no mentioned AT ALL of the FACT that Webb got oupitched tonight. No, in fact, they spent a whole segment talking about how good Webb is and showed how he owned us in the first 4 innings and only lost because of a mistake pitch. WOW..... Yea, that Brandon Webb "I lost but I kinda actually won" segment was pure BS. A bunch of ass-kissing. We're gonna have to finish off the series with a sweep to get some real recognition. They can't just pass us off if we sweep their beloved D' backs. They better not test us or we'll sweep them Cubs too. :hat

Nolasco is just a stud
I can't believe Baseball Tonight. Webb loses and they're still enamored with him. Why not let the world know how well the Marlins battled against him. Gave him his first lose. But no, Webb gets the special segment. We get a, "Who the hell is Nolasco?" brief discussion. Dan Haren is a dead man! :chair Anyways, great game. Hoping for the sweep tomorrow. ^_^

Marlins tie past and present in new site
You know, I keep imagining the stadium having aquarium like features. Like the above poster said, the stadium would have fish-tanks, large & small, Displayed as exhibits. Within the exhibits they'd have displayed Marlins of course and other types of fishes. That would be kinda cool. Make the stadium interesting and not dry & boring. Of course field quality is most important though.

5/21 Postgame
This team is gonna be crazy when we're 100%. I'm extremely proud of our team. :gofishb I've got my cross-hairs pointing at Dan Haren now. Dead-Man walking. :mischief

Diamondbacks @ Marlins 5/21 - 7:10 PM
I'm liking Dan's defense this year. It's obviously improving.

You weren't supposed to show up WEBB!

Should the Marlins lock Uggla up next?
If you give Uggla a 5yr/30 million dollar contract what is your downside? Your worst case scenario is he reverts back to last year. And he's still very tradeable w/o having to eat any of the $$. I agree completely with not decreasing, and perhaps increasing his value with a contract (where teams know their future financial commitment), but I have to point out that contract is highly unrealistic. My main problem with Uggla is not that I completely hate him as a player, it's that I don't see him valued properly through the arbitration process. If the Marlins can get away with that deal, do it immediately and that is a steal. But looking at Utley/A. Hill comparables, you're looking 5/$45-50 for Uggla (and that figure is a reversion back into his normal low .800 OPS for the rest of the season, and not this 1.600 OPS May insanity), and I think it would be a horrible idea to be committing $12+ million dollars a year to a 32 and 33 year old Uggla. Those years (2012 and 2013) are more likely than not going to be declining years for Dan, when we will have prime years from the Hermida, Maybin, A. Miller, Volstad, Johnson, Anibal, Olsen, Tucker, etc, group of players who will all be in arbitration or early free agency years. They don't need to commit money to Uggla with where they are as an organization right now, and where he is as a player. We have him for 3 years if we want him, and we can offer him a FA extension if we still want him in 2011. It's not like he is going to vanish. If anything, they can buy out his arbitration 3 years, and try and save a couple million through the process, or do the 'champ' argument and expect a value increase because of salary certainty. Either is fine. Anything more than that though, would be pretty irresponsible. Especially with a very nice 2B prospect in AA. The only players on the 25 man roster that a 5-7 year contract might make sense for are Hermida, A. Miller, and Olsen. I need to clarify, I'm not saying to give those 3 guys large year buy outs, I wouldn't to any of those 3 right now (even Hermida, cause his early cost savings window was 1-2 years ago and we shouldn't do it this close to arbitration/free agency for a corner outfield, until he proves the .900 OPS reality), but they are just the only ones who meet the definition of age, upside, and getting guys who are likely to perform to contract expectations. Also, I'm sure someone is going to argue a lot of hitters are productive at 32/33, which is true, but my belief is Dan's contact rate and utterly unreal best in baseball XBH stabilize at some point to historical rates, and he will turn into an average 2B, which makes buying him out over spending. And I hate over spending. I know the organization shares this belief so I'm not that worried we end up with a Carlos Pena contract on the books. I just see a lot of "sign Uggla. He is good" type comments, and this issue is a bit more complicated than that. I'm going to attempt to break it down very simple. Uggla can be a "better" player than Coghlan over the next 5 years, but playing Coghlan in a year or two, getting at least two excellent prospects for Dan, and using the limited money we wouldn't have to pay him could contribute to retaining more players on other parts of the team (that we would lose because we only have X to spend the next few years), is probably a "better" idea for the team. Just think about it. We're better without Cabrera. This looks like another one of those situations. We're better without Cabrera because we have Uggla. Uggla has been playing better than last season thus far.

Heat get the #2 overall pick
I'd hate to lose out on Rose. We need a facilitator the most. What are we to do with Beasley? Sure he might tear it up with his numbers, but will it necessarily equal wins? I'm not so sure. ROFLMAO :lolup

An article I wrote
Maybe add in a nice opening hook. Helps make the article a bit more luring and interesting. In your first paragraph you're already giving off stats. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I've always been taught to WRANGLE IN THEM READERS with the first few sentences. I thought the article was fine.

Gnatsol... why'd you quote yourself and write nothing else??? LOL! I didn't even notice. That second reply was a mistake. ^_^

Heat get the #2 overall pick
I'd go with O. J. Mayo. Yeah, I'm a pure sucker for all the hype and I'll let yal all in on a secret.... ...You can tell if a player is gonna be great or not if they have a great, unique name. No lie. Look at all the superstars in the NBA right now. Dwayne Wade/His name pretty much rolls off the tongue, Tracy McGrady/Awesome combination, Allen Iverson/Has a unique last name. The list goes on. They all have great and/or unique names. Thats why I think Brook Lopez will turn out to be a bust or nothing too special. Remember Andrew Bogut? Tell me his name didn't resonate that of a superstars in the NBA. It only happens in the NBA though. It might sound ludicrous and dumb, but it's the truth. At least for this generation. Anybody agree? :sweating lol Yeah, I heard that OJ is a good "slasher". LOL :notworthy I hope we trade our pick if we don't get the first or second pick. The Nuggets are discussing trading Carmelo Anthony. Maybe with our pick we could reel someone like that in.

Rays Thread
I'm happy for you Rays fans but I can't help but feel stingy how writers are already starting to call you guys legit and not even mention the marlins. The Marlins are destined to fail. So says the media, yet we already have 2 trophies on our side. We've done it before. I mean, are we really that different? You guys have a great pitching staff, we have a great offense. The same people who keep saying it's still not June are already crowning your butts! I'm inclined to suggest we drop the "lins" in our name and call ourselves the Florida Mars.... I take that back. :| My best wishes to the Tampa Bay Rays. Winning teams bring good exposure on Florida sports and thats always nice.

Fish fo the Week (5/12 - 5/18)
In a week that was weak, one man was not. Weather it was his .545 BA or his 1.615 OPS, he is the player of the week. His name is Dan Uggla, for the third week in a row. Wow, all that needed was a "In Miami, I'm Rab Bethan. ESPN." at the end of it. LMAO :rofl Add in some over-dramatics and say it all in a dry fashion and it'd be spot-on.
