  1. The second guessing should stop. Yah, keeping Heaney and sending Nicolino out should have been the no-brainer outcome, but I don't expect the Marlin front office to ever be rational. Either way, the trade has worked out. I'm not losing any sleep over losing Heaney. For those who live in Earnest, let them continue to argue. The rest of us have already moved on.
  2. Glad we have Dee. A real good guy and a great player. Marlins did okay with that trade, just hope some of the second guessing I still see about the trade stops.
  3. Going after Zimmerman will tell me how serious the Marlins are about trying to contend next year. Beyond depressing are the "realistic" targets of Gallardo, Milone and perhaps Fister as speculated by Frisaro. I'm okay with one of Gallardo or Milone as starter #3/4 but a stud is needed at #2 and this team needs to spend to get one, and they no doubt have the money to do it.
  4. Always thought this team had the personnel to perform far better than it was, even with Stanton being out. Frustrating that a large part of the season was spent substantially underperforming. Don't know whether I trust this stretch. Bour has won me over. Prado and Yelich are finally performing as they should. Love JT's progress, Hech has been good, Dee real good. Team will succeed next year if either Koehler or Cosart serve as starter #5, we acquire a starter #2/3 and 4 off season and Jose and Alvarez come back healthy and ready to go. Conley's performance against the Muts was an eye opener, need to see more. Nicolino, Urena and Flores, meh. Don't want to rely on any of them next year. No more Ichiro either. Like the bullpen big arms, can do without Morris next year. I'd keep Dunn. Nice stretch of baseball but 64-83 remains nauseating, and too late to do much better than 74-88 (which would be a winning record w/o Stanton, 30-45 when he left).
  5. Wouldn't surprise me at all if, just as the organization gave up quickly on Moran and Heaney, Kolek will be gone in a trade this winter. Perhaps in a deal for Puig, assuming Ozuna gets traded for an SP.
  6. I don't think the offer will need to be Stanton-esque but the team will do what it needs to in order to keep Jose. Not only for his performance, but his impact at the gate is significant enough for the team to structure the kind of deal that will be needed to keep him.
  7. Fair enough, Admin. Dollar and year wise their bid should be right there with the Mets, hopefully slightly better. If after all this, Cespedes signs with the Mets, so be it.
  8. Chapman is not where our problem is. Marlins need to bid on Cespedes, give him his 20M a year. Deperately need a bat like his in this lineup. Ozuna will not reach his level. Then package Ozuna, one of Bour/Dietrich and whatever for a 2/3 starter. Then sign a FA pitcher 3/4. Then we're a playoff team.
  9. Dietrich right now 7th in NL in OPS for those over 100 AB. Crazy not to have him in everyday lineup against RHP. Hope he's included in the core but suspect he'll go in a package for a 2/3 SP which I think will suck. Always liked his grit.
  10. Eovaldi, Heaney & Disco a combined 25-11 this yr, yo! If Dunn is a part of the core, it's not a core I'd ever want to take a bite of. He needs to go in a package for a SP or Ozuna replacement. I value Prado's glove at 3rd, he needs to OPS better than 670 and he can, however if he goes in a trade that brings back a 2/3 SP or a power hitting greater than 800 OPS OF or 1st base starter, than OK. Dietrich belongs in the every day lineup certainly against righties, just not sure where to play him. Think I'd prefer him at 1st over Bour, who has disappointed lately with the glove. Think Bour can also be a tradable commodity with his power. Our young SP arms from N.O are a very unimpressive lot as feared.
  11. I like my chances with Martinez going tomorrow. This was the game I was sweating out run wise. Lackey very ordinary. Team had chances but as usual flubbed them. Team hits 202 with bags loaded, 199 with RISP. Single biggest reason they're on their way to losing 100 games. Giancarlo aint walking through that door either.
  12. Bet a friend $100 Marlins would get swept and score no more than 5 runs in the series. Easiest $100 I'll ever make.
  13. Nicolino and Conley don't impress. Both are very hittable, neither has a real swing and miss pitch. Sought of like how Heaney looked last year. Which I guess means a little patience is in order.
  14. O.M.G. Dunn D.P. McGehee W.T.F. Mathis G.D. Hand D.L. Cosart
  15. Lou this team needs more help in scoring runs and I don't think that problem gets solved by just getting a righty platoon guy at first and a better 4th outfielder Remember when Stanton went out this team was 30-45 and had everyone in the lineup. Are you confident next year that Yelich and Ozuna will be superior run producers, I'm not. They could be but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. This team needs a Cespedes, Gomez type who you know is going to hit. As far as pitching is concerned, Kazmir and a Latos 1 yr rental type would work for me.
  16. There is no extra year involved is what I understand. Ozuna will hit free agency the same year regardless of when they bring him back up. What's at stake is whether he gets an extra arbitration yr as a super 2, rather than the standard 3 yrs. Small potatoes to everyone but this team,
  17. Agree about the overreaction. This team has 2 franchise pieces and a number of other good ones, just not enough of them. This team can, assuming a bona-fide manager, easily be a contending team but won't be if Loria just spends the 20M. Need to spend closer to 35M. Team needs a #2 starter, a reliable over 800 OPS RBI machine at 1st, 3rd or LF/CF assuming that won't be Ozuna or Dietrich (with whomever is being replaced traded for whatever) and the luck of a decent run of good health. This team needs at least 2 legitimate and reliable RBI producers. I'm fearful the team will fall on its face in securing a #2 because Cueto, Zimmerman, Price, Greinke et al won't take Loria's money.
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NjTE2vpMA8We know at least Solano, Mathis, Hand and Rienzo will be hitting the fan, to be accompanied by the corresponding assistance of Loria, Samson, Hill and Jennings. Of course that's alot of sh*t hitting the fan.
  19. This topic deserves to be reinstated, for obvious reasons. I'd call it a continuing resolution. After the latest stunt with Dietrich, can't tolerate this buffoon any longer.
  20. Ramos ERA blowup, brought to you by Ratso.
  21. Bases loaded fire, Jennings brings in a blowtorch.
  22. Game over 3 straight walks. Inning ready to blow up big time, Ratso Rienzo
  23. You play to win the game. To do that, this porous lineup needs bats. Sick of this shit.
  24. OMG DD got pulled for a defensive change. Fuck Jennings. Makes me sick
  25. Marlins have perfected mind numbing soul crushing baseball, much like 2013.
