  1. Not pinch hitting Lucas for Jones against the lefty with bags loaded one out was just criminal. But with Redmond, its expected. And good lord not pinch hitting for Mathis when a runner was in scoring position. What Redmond has mastered is the art of shrinking winning opportunities, and putting it all on McGehee to bale his ass out. This game it didn't work.
  2. Yeah, these were moves that had to be made. wish it could have happened a week ago but okay. All those who were DFA'd or sent down were killing us. Please...Heaney and Disco in the rotation, Turner to the pen, he can take the Slowey role. Glad to see Bour coming back. Please get Dietrich back on this team. don't care what it takes. If Furcal starts settling in, at best we need a platoon to get Deit's bat in there against righties. Against righties, Furcal can play an occasional SS in place of Hech, or be a late inning defensive substitute for Dietrich. I'd swap either Johnson or Lucas out. If Johnson, Lucas can be the 4th outfielder (when Yelich is back and Marisnick is sent back down, assuming he doesn't wow us with his bat in the next couple of weeks). I'm psyched, anxious to see what this infusion of young talent will do for us.
  3. Ouch, not having Yelich and Deits in the lineup. Both superior in getting on base and with extra base power. With our current lineup the pressure on Stanton, McGehee, Jones and Ozuna to pretty much generate 99% of the run scoring will really be ampted up.
  4. I imagine. Then Salty, then Heaney, and hopefully one day we see Dietrich return and Flynn arrive. Report out....Yelich going on 15 day DL. Marisnick coming up.
  5. If Wolf gets another start then I'll know that trying to make the playoffs is not of the highest priority to this front office. Also if Slowey remains on this team past mid-week.
  6. Probably one of the more inexplicable stats I've seen is that McGehee currently has only a 0.4 WAR. through top 10 in BA, RBI's, unbelievable with RISP, less errors at 3rd that any NL 3rd base regular. WTF. So because he's only hit 1 HR all yr, he's just barely above replacement level. Wow! For those who have a healthy skepticism about the whole sabermetic exercise, McGehee's WAR is a good reason why.
  7. Eject button needs to be pressed right now on Wolf, Turner, Hand, Slowey, Jennings, Hatcher, Furcal and Solano. Keep Gregg away from here. Replace with Heaney, Disco, Flynn, Dietrich, Bohr, and even keep one of Wolf or Turner in the bullpen and I think most of us would live with the results. Open mind on Tejada in July who can actually still hit. Want a starting five of Alvarez, Eovaldi, Heaney, big Salad and Disco now. A trade for Hammel would be nice but this is Loria/Marlin front office we're talking about. I'm sure they're scowering the Triple AAA level right now looking for the next great washed out veteran arm.
  8. Oh good, management went Full Retard. Really? Save him so we'll have him ready to take us into the playoffs in September? I didn't realize we're all of a sudden good for playoff contention ever since we improved our rotation by swapping out Fernandez for Wolf/Turner. Just call the kid up already so fans will have a reason to come back to the park and improve ticket sales because lets get real, this team probably isn't nabbing a playoff slot so shut the kid down in September if you have to. At least with the slight bit of hope that the kid does give us a shot at contention, the slight hope and fun of being apart of a playoff run will drive in ticket sales than watching most of the rotation pitch losing efforts. Not quite sure what you're saying, other than it seems you're getting carried away a bit. Look, the rotation with the exception of Alvarez is cratering. Wish all this babying of Heaney will come to an end, his arm is needed now, not in a month, not in two weeks, now. Not saying we'll be staying in the race with him though I think our chances are better, but without him and the staff performing as it currently is, the handwriting is definitely on the wall. Pace Heaney's innings with the big club, not at New Orleans.
  9. Against decent righthanded pitching, we currently have 4 deadspots in the lineup, Furcal/Lucas/Solano, Hech, Mathis/Realmuto and the Pitcher. And Yelich is day to day. And our pitching is currently mediocre at best. Dietrich's bat is desperately needed in this lineup right now, just no two ways about it.
  10. The starting pitching, with the exception of Alvarez, has gone downhill since saying bye bye to Jose, and the bullpen is, well we know it will always be a problem. Hitting has carried us, so the loss of Dietrich's bat is going to cost this team big time. It just too sad sack to have to rely on Lucas and Solano hitting against righties when neither can, much less show any punch. And Furcal rolling over on every at bat when he's not striking out is just a sad sight to watch. Management needs to get over this Dietrich hate and, even with his fielding woes, get his bat back in the lineup again and soon. He just brings more to the table.
  11. Ugh. Looks like we're going to be waiting at least 15 days to see him. Skipping this start, then one more start in triple-A, then another 5 days until he starts in Miami. Looks like they're buying some time to see if Wolf/Turner sink or swim. We already know how that will turn out, Marlins will be exiting the playoff race in no time. Combine this stupid decision (or non-decision) with exiling Dietrech's bat to New Orleans, and its just cause for shaking your head. It's WTF again and again with this management.
  12. This game is going exactly the way I thought it go, closest thing to a forfeit.
  13. Time to bring Heaney up and hope he can replace Turner. Needs to start Friday against the Pirates, assuming Koehler and Eovaldi will pitch against the Rangers. The kid is ready. We can't stay in the race too much longer throwing Turner and Wolf out there on a regular basis. Heaney needs to replace one of them.
  14. Think the team was spooked by the Wrigley shadows..... Stanton and Yelich in particular with an assortment of truly awful at bats. Team just didn't play well, yet still was in position to steal the game. Can't get too upset.
  15. Boy you dudes keep playing the negative contrarian role to the hilt. Enough already. We all know McGehee's OPS. We also know he's been sucking bad when no one's on base. Okay, so be it. Let me also factor in all the outfield walls he's hit on the fly just missing seeing it go out. The guy has been pure gold when its counted the most. No cause for disappointment from this observer. I also think its only a matter of time before the HR's start coming.
  16. Great thread, Wild Card, an actual feel good thread. So many terrific surprises so far, I'd add Garrett Jones as a very legitimate fifth choice. McGehee gets my vote, just money with RISP. Who saw this coming? Can't overlook what he's done for Stanton, helping to ease all the pressure that has always fallen on the big guy. A more relaxed Stanton at the plate has been a key ingredient to his breakthrough this year.
  17. Get the Jax Sandlewood kid!
  18. The article was okay until the nonsense about trading Heaney in a package for Samardzija. You knew then it was all bs. I'll be surprised if Heaney doesn't become a long term core member of the rotation. Just want to think Jose, Heaney, Rodon, Eovaldi and Alvarez.
  19. When is the day that Heaney can longer be super2? That's the day he needs to be called up.
  20. In your eyes perhaps. They've also lost the ace of the rotation and it's a big drop to the next guy. Except for maybe two or three opponents, every time the Marlins win a series to me is a surprise. A pleasant one no doubt, but still a surprise. Don't think there's cause to be that alarmist, but no doubt the starting pitching since losing Jose has been disappointing. The whole rotation looks very hittable. Eovaldi and Alvarez have to pick it up.
  21. Shame Marlins gave themselves no chance to win this game
  22. CANCEL BASEBALL Tempting to count me in on this one, never been so depressed over an injury, and the fact that the cumulative effect of losing Jose for 12 to 18 months is simply crushing to the vitality of the team in so many ways. Jose was such a breadth of fresh air, loved watching him do his thing, so dominating and so entertaining. I go back a little ways but to me it was like watching Bob Gibson pitch, with his breathtaking & dominating arsenal of pitches, batters cowering at the plate Would think about going rip van winkle and hope when I wake up next June or so, Jose will be back, Stanton will still be around and hopefully signed to a long term deal. Only hope is that a few of the kids pitching in Double A will be able to pick up a fraction of the slack come next month, will be interesting to see how they do. Have no appetite for a constant replacement diet of Hand and Slowey. Oh, and Henry Rodriguez-Marmol needs to be jettisoned pronto.
  23. I hate when people say that. Just because they lost doesn't mean they "gave up". So if they would've "tried harder", they'd be undefeated I guess? Would it make you feel better if I say they haven't competed, because they haven't.
  24. Getting hammered by the Padres, we keep hearing how this team fights and never gives up, well that's what they've done this series, they've given up and been crawling on their belly all weekend long, getting out scored by 20 wins. Wow.
  25. Just a completely different team on the road, more like last yrs team, distressing. Going out to dinner. expect to come back and see that we've been shut out. Hope I'm wrong but don't expect to be.
