I honestly think Rodriguez could make a case to be manager after just this season.

Ok, Jimenez has been dominant through his 16 starts. But, you know, Josh Johnson also has the exact same ERA of 1.83. Plus an 0.96 WHIP, also through 16 starts. There's obviously the lack of run support. I think Jimenez has struggled through his last few starts, while Johnson has continued to be filthy. I just want to show some stats that weren't mentioned: Jimenez: K/9=8.12, BB/9=3.19, FIP=3.07, xFIP=3.68 Johnson: K/9=8.92, BB/9=2.25, FIP=2.47, xFIP=3.16 FIP is the stat that only measures factors the pitcher can control. Like, helps you to see how good a pitcher really is, regardless of the defense behind him and such. xFIP is a stat that's supposed to measure a pitcher's expected ERA based on number of home runs allowed per fly ball. From what I've heard, a good indicator of a pitcher's future ERA. Not sure though. Johnson has also out-performed Jimenez in percent of swings off the plate, percent of contact made on all pitches, percent of first pitch strikes thrown, and percent of pitches which result in swinging strike. As someone else said, Manuel probably won't take these things into account. So, what I'm trying to say is, I believe Johnson has been the better pitcher so far. Even if Manuel picks Jimenez, I'll still be happy. But it would be cool to have Johnson pitching.

Well, Halladay was already reeling before he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. If I remember, he was like 3-7 since his perfect game, I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong. And Jimenez gave up 6 runs in 5 and two-thirds innings against the Red Sox a little while ago. But then he did come back with a good start. So, I'm not sure what I think will happen.

Was that Randy St. Claire just making a call to the bullpen?

Well, if the Marlins do look to trade Uggla to the Rockies, I definantly think Chacin is expendable for them, considering they have Jorge De La Rosa returning from the DL. That would be a rotation of Jiminez, De La Rosa, Cook, Francis, and Hammel. A formidable rotation in my opinion. If the Rockies want Uggla that bad, I'm looking them trading Chacin, maybe Brandon Hynick? I mean, if the Rockies, are looking to sign Garrett Atkins long term, they could part with Ian Stewart, but I don't see it happening. Getting Frankie Morales is iffy, that's all I can say.

They have got to be at least better than Buente and Sosa, even if they are unproven against big league batters.

I understand the move of sending Cameron down, but what I don't understand is promoting Lamb. In 25 at bats this season, he's got 5 hits, a .200 average. His OBP is .259. -__- That's pretty crappy. Plus the fact that he's 34 years old, he's got to be on the decline.

Imagine if Boston would've given us what we supposedly wanted. Josh Johnson and Jon Lester in the same rotation would've been really nice. To answer the question, the Marlins shouldn't really trade Anibal right now. SP is thin; nothing is certain on this team after Josh Johnson. You never have enough pitching. Ricky Nolasco's regression is not helping the cause, either. Chris Volstad gives solid outings.

Not a bad idea at all, but what I'm thinking is everyone on the team looks up to Wes and he's a leader in the locker room, so we could possibly be losing some chemistry. But other than that, I don't think it's a bad idea.

Good performance by Dominquez too, though I would say we don't need him just yet with Helms and Cantu both having the ability to play third base...

To me, Miami Marlins really just doesn't sound right. I know a lot of teams are named after cities, but we could be one of the few that aren't...? I don't know, I just like the name "Florida Marlins" better than "Miami Marlins".

I guess old Ken fell asleep in the clubhouse again so they forced him to retire? Nah, they didn't force him to retire, least that's not what he said in his statement. From what I remember, he said if he ever thought he had become a distraction, he would retire as to not hurt the team, or something along those lines.

It's been a downhill slide for Dontrelle. I would really like to see him become a solid pitcher, whether it be starting or in relief.

I could see Jorge Sosa being a short-term solution to our bullpen problem. But he is 33, so I wouldn't count on him being in Florida for very long. But in the past 7 days, Sosa pitched in 3.2 innings for the Zephyrs, and gave up no runs, though he did walk 5 people. That's pretty sad.

Besides the fact that we'll be the Miami Marlins, I heard that it'll be black, silver, and teal on the road uniforms. And that the "F" that was on the left sleeve will be dropped.

the .216 batting average isn't too impressive but honestly i'd rather have him coming off the bench than mike lamb. Very true. The funny part is, ESPN is projecting Mike to hit .211, which is very close to what Mark is supposed to be batting...Weird. Not to say you should trust ESPN but...

ESPN is projecting Mark to hit 23 homers with a .216 batting average. Haha.

Kyle definantly has a massive amount of strikeouts. Early on people were comparing him to Joe Mauer, I don't see that happening now though. Joe Mauer is a tough out.

I've heard the Nationals and Mets have taken an interest in Roy. Livan Hernandez, of all people, has been Washington's most reliable pitcher this season. Jason Marquis and Scott Olsen are on the DL, Chien-Ming Wang is coming off shoulder surgery, and Jordan Zimmermann just had Tommy John surgery. I think they are more likely to look into acquiring Roy Oswalt than the Mets. He is owed about $31 million through the 2011 season, and I've heard the Mets might not have the money to make a play for Oswalt. I was thinking the Nationals could trade prospects RHP Drew Storen and OF Destin Hood...?

In your guys opinion, who should throw out the first pitch in the new stadium? I'd say Mr. Conine, or someone else who was insanely important in Marlins history. ... Or Norman Braman. :o ... As a joke of course. Jeff Conine for sure! :lol

I feel bad for Freddy Garcia...Got owned by the Marlins offense. 7 runs in 3 innings, just like the game he pitched against Toronto. Owch.:anon

It's definantly true that Chris Coghlan is not having a great year. He's on track for only around 100 hits this year, 60 less than last year. That really sucks, you have to admit. And he's already 24. But for Cameron Maybin, in 39 games this year, he has 35 hits. I don't think that's so bad...I could be wrong though haha.:thumbup
