  1. The guy who wrote that is a moron
  2. I dont know if this was posted but it sure is interesting: Fox has already lost three months. Right elbow inflammation sent him to the disabled list and Fox has yet to resume a throwing program. "There are a lot of positives," Fox said. "The tingling and the numbness, all those things have subsided. I haven't done anything to test it." Fox said the next step is to contact orthopedic surgeon James Andrews and seek clearance to begin throwing. He would like to rehab aggressively and salvage as much of the final two months as possible. "I miss it bad," said Fox, who has spent the last few months at home in Texas. "It's getting harder and harder as the season gets later." http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-mar...ports-headlines Sounds like Fox is zeroing in on returning this year. Imagine if we have Spooneybarger and Fox come back for the last month of the season. We would go from having a good bullpen to a great bullpen.
  3. Dodgers welcome Hee-Seop Choi to Los Angeles LOS ANGELES -- On Tuesday, Aug. 3, the Dodgers will hold a press conference at 10:30 a.m. at Seoul International Park in Koreatown (3250 San Marino Avenue, Los Angeles) to welcome newly acquired first baseman Hee-Seop Choi to Los Angeles. The media conference will be open to the media and general public. "I am pleased that we were able to add a young, powerful left-handed bat like Hee-Seop's to our lineup as we head down the pennant stretch," said Dodger Executive Vice President and General Manager Paul DePodesta. "I believe this trade not only helps us this season, but we also expect to reap the rewards for years to come." "The Dodgers have long stood as a shining reflection of the ethnic and cultural diversity of Los Angeles," said Dodger Owner Frank McCourt. "We believe the Korean community will join us in supporting Hee-Seop Choi during what we believe will be a long and significant career with the Los Angeles Dodgers." On July 30, Choi was acquired from the Florida Marlins along with pitcher Brad Penny and minor league pitcher Bill Murphy in exchange for catcher Paul Lo Duca, reliever Guillermo Mota and outfielder Juan Encarnacion. Choi, 25, was born in Chun-Nam, Korea, and was the first position player born in Korea to appear in a Major League game when he made his debut in 2002 with the Chicago Cubs. This season, his third in the Majors, Choi is batting .270 with 15 homers, 17 doubles and 40 RBIs in 97 games. He has posted a .495 slugging percentage and a .388 on-base percentage, including 53 walks and 79 strikeouts. Looks like Choi will definately feel like home now.
  4. Armando has only blown 3 saves this season. If Mota were paired up with Armando in LA, they would be 42-3 together. In fact, Gagne has 28 saves and Armando has 33 so these Benitez/Mota numbers are realistic.
  5. The Dodgers' trade-deadline additions had barely donned their new uniforms when the team was given a painful reminder of what had been subtracted. The Dodgers took a one-run lead into the eighth inning Saturday night at Petco Park. With Guillermo Mota as the primary setup man setting the stage for closer Eric Gagne, the Dodgers were 45-0 this season when leading after seven innings. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/9293492 I know he was paired up with Gagne but those are immortal stats. So that means he never gave up enough runs to blow the lead to lose the game. If we had Mota from the beggining of the season we would prob be at least 10 games over .500. Can anyone find out how many games we lost after leading after 7 innings?
  6. I was hearing a guy call Hanks show and he had a good point. He said as of last Thursday, we were 3 1/2 games out prior to Fridays game w/ the Expos which isnt alot. Then, the Braves won 2 and we lost 2 (lost 1/2 game too since we didnt get to finish game and Braves won on Sunday). So the Braves picked up almost 3 games in 3 days. They will slow done at some time and we need to start winning, we cant turn the table on them and pick up as many games. Even though Kim Bokamper said today that those only 5% of teams that were 6-11 games out as of July 31 came back to win their division, i believe we can do it.
  7. ...We are 6 games back of the Braves for the Division and 5 1/2 games back of the Padres for the Wild-Card. If we start winning and either of those 2 teams start losing we can make a run for it.
  8. I do like this trade. Im just hoping its not going to hurt us in the long term.
  9. Both Lo Duca and Mota are due arbitration which means big raises which means the marlins might not be able to afford them. If other teams know that we HAVE to trade someone, we will be at a negotiating disadvantage and will get less in any trade just like the LA encarnacion trade from the beggininng of the season that netted us only minor leaguer Travis Ezi.
  10. I hope they keep these players they traded for beyond this year. If not, someone next year will try to rape us on a deal like LA did when we traded them Encarnacion.

Too bad that Manzanillo had to mess everything up...When Sledge came up, i felt like he was going to hit out and he did...when Josias starts off pitching bad you need to take him out
  12. Im asking this question since last year thats how we bolstered out bullpen by signing Helling and Fox as FA's (besides trading for Urbina).
  13. Meanwhile, Florida was trying to replace Penny by exploring a deal to send Nunez to San Diego for right-hander Ismael Valdez (9-6, 5.53 ERA). http://www.palmbeachpost.com/marlins/conte...deweb_0731.html
  14. I like the trade when i look at it quick but then i look at the players ages, i cringe. Lo Duca is 32, Walker is 37 and Mota is 31. We need guys that are young and productive so that they can be here producing for years to come and have better trade value if we ever need to trade them again.
  15. I got a call from my Heat account rep today and he said that the balcony area was for sale. Rows 1-12 are $22 a game for 41 games and rows 13+ are $18 a game for 41 games. This tells you the Heat are taking advantage of this section since tickets for the playoffs went for $10 for the entire section and now they are bloating up the prices for those who are not only willing to sit up there but are buying bulk. These people are people are buying this package and are getting a worse deal than those who bought single seats last year (albeit the balcony was only open for a few games).
  16. Thats strange. The paper i signed was to authorize my credit card and i read the small lettering and it doesnt say anything about reselling tickets. Maybe i'll need to sign that later on. Im sorry to hear that you couldnt get tickets...Shaq trade went down on Wednesday and i ordered the tickets that morning since my friend told me that they hold onto your tickets for 48 hours until you fax them back your sig. As of that moment that still had some good seats in the lower bowl. In fact, i had called Tuesday for the cheap seats and they were all out but Wednesday morning the Heat re-released seats of those who didnt complete their order w/in the 48 hrs (People started ordering tickets since Monday, the first business day after the rumored trade). They had the $22 lower bowl seats which are a bargain for the view but i couldnt afford it at this time.
  17. Accord: Could you tell me where i can find that info about not being able to sell my tickets at any price. I went to the Heat site and i couldnt find anything. Also, in my statement, it says that tickets could be revoked if someone is thrown out of my seats a 2nd occasion. Thanks.
  18. Its not scalping. By Florida Law, Im allowed to sell the tickets for $1 over face value.
  19. I bought season tickets at the $9 level in section 309 and i am selling about 20 games as a mini-plan. I will include some good games (Lebron James app, etc.). I am selling the package for $10 per game and 2 seats per game so it comes out to $400 for both seats. If anyone is interested, please post a message here w/ your e-mail.
  20. Baseball is very different from Basketball in that adding 1 significant player in basekettball can really effect your wins-losses while baseball is different since its a team game. For example, Shaq is involved in every scoring chance the Heat has (for 32 mins anyways) where baseball Barry bonds has only 4 AB's in the game but if his teamates arent hitting then he cant make too much of a difference.
  21. I believe that i heard that Sunshine will carry the whole thing. BTW, its being planned now as a block party at the AAA instead of a normal press conference. Listen to the news as they are organizing it now as for the details.
  22. I would only expect a comment like that from a 14 y/o immature kid getting his first pubes...but guess what you most prob are so it doesnt faze me
  23. In my minor league notes the other day, i had mentioned the great starts Juan Figueroa and Stu Alexander have had. I also mentioned other players aquired in the draft this year that have made an impact. Do a search for it and check it out if you guys like.
  24. The only one we could've had cheap this off-season was Michael Barrett. He hadnt done anything special till now so his value was low but the marlins thought we had our savior in Ramon Castro.
  25. Your Welcome Fran... Here is a link for the Box Scores for the GCL but they usually dont update them till the morning. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/score.../box_Rgcl.shtml
