Official Carlos Delgado Thread

Featured Replies

Well...stranger things have happened...Delgado's agent is David Sloane who is based in Coral Springs and Miami is only a stones throw from Puerto Rico. Didn't we sign a cathcer from Puerto Rico a couple of years ago???

Yeah, but that certain catcher was not as sought after as Delgado... :whistle

Delgado did sign with the Marlins.......

Marlins signed infielder Wilson Delgado to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Delgado hit .292/.366/.385 in 130 at-bats for the Mets last season. He might replace Mike Mordecai as the Marlins' sixth infielder. :lol

Ok, here we go again. On the drive home, while listening to Fat Hank they said it again... (This time it was that old man that sounds like he is going to croak) " Big O reports that the Marlins are in Contract negotiations with free agent Carlos Delgado"

About 5 teams are in "contract negotiations" with him. He wants to go to Texas, but they don't have the dough.

Someone thought I must have misheard the report...

I doubt we are on his short list..

but if we somehow were to land him, this would make us have the best offseason in the NL East, imo.. just because it's just what we need.

I don't want to be heartbroken, stop the rumors or provide a credible source please. . . :)

So this means we move Cabrera back to RF and Conine to left? Or do we platoon Conine and Encarnacion? I really don't want to see Cabs back in right again...

If we did have this lineup, I think we would be the favorites to win the NL East.

please stop. i dont want to be heartbroken like the situation last year with vlad.

a 1 year deal would be fine with me

agreed, possibly with an option for two more seasons.

If the Marlins finally do get the financing for this stadium done, how long do you think its going to be before Loria is able to pony up the cash to start spending on big FA's?

The year before the stadium opens, and then they will try to field a championship caliber team the year the stadium opens. So, I would imagine 2006-2007 offseason will be good to the fish, and the 2006-2007 offseason will make them top contenders.

That still leaves us with a 4 million dollar bench player and I just can't see that happenning realistically...but if it means Delgado comes I will shutup

I'd believe that in the event Delgado is signed to a deal (he wants at least 3 years), we'd package Encarnacion with Stokes and send him anywhere. The D'Backs want a RF and are high on Stokes...it could work out.

if beltran leaves houston, they'll be shoping for an OF. It could be possible that we sent him there or to Arizona.

Why can't we just release Encarnacion?
