Collision with Beltran, Cameron

Featured Replies

Mike Cameron - OF - Mets

Mike Cameron left today's game in the seventh inning following a collision with Carlos Beltran in right-center field.

Cameron was put in a neck brace and taken off on a cart after getting hit in the head. He figures to be done for quite some time. NL-only leaguers will probably want to pick up Victor Diaz, who would take over in right field. Aug. 11 - 5:42 pm et

Beltran will rejoin the team (who nknows if he plays).

Cammy is in the hospital.

Easily the worst collision I've ever seen. The fact that play cost us the game is secondary, my prayers are with both families.

That is by far the most horrendus thing that I have ever seen in baseball. I hate the Mets but my heart goes out to the entire team and their families in this very trying time.

it looked BAAAAAAAAAAAD face to face collision after both were diving for a ball... hope they come back soon

SUprisingly WFAN is reporting that Beltran is fine, just a bit shaken up. His shoulder is sore and he can't remember the collision but there was no concussion and he shouldn't miss any extended amount of time.

this is some crazy stuff. never seen anything like it, both outfielder going at the ball 100% and crashing. Hope the best to both on their recoveries

I remember the first time I saw Cameron play in 2000 at Comiskey the pregame guys kept saying he was the nicest guy in baseball. Hope he gets back on the field soon.

I see it, and it's amazing that they're both relatively OK. I mean, Cameron's lucky that he didn't suffer any neck damage.

Awful.

I saw it on BBTN and cringed as soon as they collided. I never like seeing anyone get hurt, especially not this bad...

Hopefully they can both fully recover from this and man the Met outfield in the near future.

Prayers go out to the players and their loved ones...

Two centerfielders going for a ball in no mans land.... Man that's awful. I really hope they're ok. Never seen anything remotely like that before. Prayers to them and their families.

I think this one was worse than the Mookie Wilson and Lenny Dykstra collision, ironically they were both Mets as well.
