September 17, 200520 yr Gotta get Willingham in the lineup... put him wherever, but we need another bat in this lineup all he does is have good at bat after good at bat... he deserves a shot, espcially in these desperate times
September 17, 200520 yr The might as well give Willingham the shot he deserves, no more of this putting Lowell in crap. I'm just afraid Jack doesn't know who Willingham is. :plain
September 17, 200520 yr I agree Ramp, give it a try stick him in there and see what he can bring to the table.
September 17, 200520 yr Getting only 1 run today with the bases loaded thru a walk has pretty muched summed up the offense and it's inconsistency this year

September 17, 200520 yr We need Lowell to take a seat again and stay there. Don't know what the hell Jack was thinking.
September 17, 200520 yr So... with an inexperienced prospect who doesn't really have a position, or any past success at the plate, the Marlins will start scoring 5 runs a game and win the wild card???????? Let's not get crazy, guys.

Let's not get crazy, guys. 951214[/snapback] no past success at the plate? Are you talking about the 5 pinch-hit at-bats he's had this season? The guy is a dynamic hitter, and he's proved that at every level of the minors. He should get a shot to prove himself in the majors.

September 17, 200520 yr I suppose it's time to sit Conine. Jeff was hot, but has really cooled off the past few games. I really don't believe adding one hitter is going to spark this lineup. All of the guys have got to start hitting better. Just look at the Phillies. They keep coming at you from all parts of the order.
September 17, 200520 yr It's not time to put in Willingham. We've got Conine and Enc in the OF and Miggy at 3B. If the Marlins fall out of the race, then by all means put Willingham in the lineup for the rest of the season at that point to build up his value for a trade with an AL team to improve our team.
September 17, 200520 yr Encarnacion is hitting .130 in the past week (most crucial week of the season may I add....) and Lowell just flat out sucks. After today, this team needs a MAJOR spark in order to stay in this...tomorrow night is obviously a must win...time for Jack to grow some testicles and try something other than throwing the same 'ol non-productive crew out there. Move Pierre back to the leadoff spot. He's hitting around .350 over this past week and Loue is sturggling badly (.172AVG .226 OBP). Find a way to get a spark out of Willingham...or even Hermida...I'd like to see what he can do batting down in the order where he isn't so focused on just getting on base...instead see what he can do as a run producer(which is what he should be) Pierre Castillo Delgado Cabrera (hitting .379 in the 4 hole... .287 in 3 hole...let him cleanup Einstein!) Lo Duca Willingham/Hermida Encarnacion/Conine/Hermida/Willinham Gonzalez (suck it up Gonzo!) /rant
September 18, 200520 yr I'm out of ideas how to improve this offense. Nearly everything has been tried. Giving Willy playing time is well over due and might be an answer.
September 18, 200520 yr with the initial 24, i agreed 2 months ago but also realize it probably will not happen until next week (if/when out of race)
September 22, 200520 yr Don't worry, with this combination of weak offense and a terrible bullpen, we will be mathematically out of the playoffs pretty soon and Willingham will have the chance to get some games in...

September 28, 200520 yr what's it gonna take to get Hammer a start? You could say the same about Aguila.
September 28, 200520 yr It's time to get the younger guys out there who will bring some excitement to the game.

All of the guys have got to start hitting better. Just look at the Phillies. They keep coming at you from all parts of the order. PB old buddy, I would draw your attention to the link below, Conine's stats for the last ten games, batting .361. 3 for 3 on the 25th, 1 for 2 on the 26th, 1 for 3 last night. Plus four BB and zero strikeouts. I'm not adverse to sitting down Conine or Enc or JP or all of them now that we're totally out of it, and letting the kids play, but one guy who isn't cold is JC. If everyone was getting on base like Conine we wouldn't be where we are now. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...layer_id=112559
September 28, 200520 yr All of the rookies should be out there right now honestly. It should be the "young team". Except where folks are playing for bonus' and special things. Pitch Johnson, pitch Resop, pitch Messenger all alot Rest LoDuca till the last game of the year for D-train Let Mikey try to improve his average more for trade reasons. Play Hermida, Willingham, Treanor, Aguila, Dillon, Andino, Wilson... Play the kids and let them learn for now. You arent playing for anything. In the last game of the year is D-train's last chance for another win. He got screwed out of one earlier in the week. Last night the defense was horrible. And the strike zone was terrible as well for him. Let the kid have a shot with the regulars the last game of the year to make a stand. But, besides that let the kids play.
