I am here to say a few things about the Marlins. Yes I know my name is a cubsfan. But, I got to admit I am FINALLY over 2003 ;) . Hehe, but I was so wrong about Marlins fans. I thought they were fairweather and sttuff, but this forum proves otherwise. And I love to comend your fan base for sticking in there after 2 fire sales. You have had some helluv good teams.

But, the first game of this series I never realized how awesome this Marlins team is. Yes they are young and they probably won't win the World Series, but I fell in love with this Marlins team. I have never seen so much fire, excitment, and joy in a team. These young guys are special. And I think I will now be rooting for the Marlins, besides the Cubs. But, really this team isn't about riches or anything like that, but for the love of the game.

I really feel sorry for you guys that you had to go through all the management crap and and all. I hope for a loyal fan base like you staying with this young team (that has all the potential in the world) that only has 14 Mil payroll. Marlins fans deserve better though. So, I hope there can be something that keeps the Marlins in South Florida, get a couple of vets to play along side these young guns, and just an owner that cares.

Good luck the rest of the way, and I admit I was jealous and bitter, but I am here just to say Go Marlins and go Marlin Fans for being what baseball is all about.

Thanks for the kind words. They are appreciated.

And now the Cubs are my 2nd favorite NL team with my two favorite ex-Marlins, JP and DLee on the team. If you haven't fallen in love with JP, I'm sure you and all Cubs fans will soon enough.

man, after the 2003 playoffs it takes a real fan of baseball to make a post like that. welcome and thanks. :D

thanks for the kind words. :D . i have always loved watching cub baseball. i got to go to Wrigley this summer and i was just in awe. i can't imagine having a beautiful stadium such as yours.

you will love juan pierre, he's the kind of guy a manager and the fans LOVE. he works his ass off all the time, he's the first at the park and the last to leave. he's always improving himself. i was at the marlins stadium once, at 7:00 in the morning, for a photoshoot with AJ Burnett. we had to go through the batting cages to get a uniform top to wear. and of course there was pierre in the cage smacking fastball after fastball, (it's a pretty cool machine btw, doesn't just shoot the ball at you, it has an arm that flings it at you) . he's also one of the nicest guys in the game, he's a real gentlemen, and has a strong passion for the game.

i was going to root for the cubs in the '03 world series, but you know what happened. the town of chicago is a great baseball town.

Thanks for the kind words. :thumbup

It really has been a stressful and exciting year. Good Luck to your Cubs (Not the nights where the Fish and Cubs are playing against eachother ;) )

ok, you can't possibly be a "true" cubs fan. a true cubs fan would never root for another team. maybe you're one of those extremely rare respectable cubs fans out there. if so, please have many children and repopulate the cubs fan base w/ respectable human beings.

you just won the classless post award of the year

- first you state that he is not a "true" fan

- then you proceed to piss on the entire cubs fan base

Thanks for the kind words ! I have already made up my mind btw that if the Marlins ever do that dirty, dirty R word (relocate) I will officially become a Cub fan. Wrigley field is my dream stadium to one day visit, in any sport.

Thanks and welcome. The thing you are guaranteed from the young guys is balls to the wall, all out effort in every game. I respect the young guys for their effort, and I believe the great effort is fun to watch.

Thanks for the kind words. I myself am both a Cubs fan and Marlisn fan, although the Marlins certainly take precedence (not by much though). The fire you mention in this team was also present in 2003, which made that playoff series in 2003 very very tough to deal with, especially with the way in ended up. I could not find it in myself to root for/against either team because I had every reason to want to see the Cubs in the WS for the first time in a century, but the Marlins just seemed to want it more than any team I had ever seen before. Some teams won because of excessive talent, the 2003 Marlins had reasonable talent but more than talent, they had drive. If this team can stay in Florida with a stadium deal, I'm confident we'll see us rise from the ashes once again.

yep. i hate them. sue me.

You know generally, I have a general disdain for Cubs fans because many of them act as though a World Series championship is owed to them and they hate the fact that other teams who are more recent like the Marlins and D-Backs a few years ago won it before they had another. Generally...

However I must say that after reading your post, you have given me a glimmer of hope that there are some good Cubs fans out there and that they appreciate the game of baseball for what it is. You may be envious of our team and the fact that us fans have stayed fans despite everything that has happend to this franchise, but believe me, I am envious of the city of Chicago for the way they stay behind their team and show up to every game whether they win or lose. I hope that this South Florida community can eventually one day learn to be just as great of fans of baseball and the Marlins like Chicago is of the sport and the Cubs.

So thanks for the kind words and we welcome you to our little community hear. :thumbup

Every team has bad fans, Cubs just have more than about 25 teams combined.

I appreciate the kind words from this fan and don't question his loyalty, after all, I think we all consider ourselves baseball fans first, Marlins fans second.

Amen. I wasn't really questioning his loyalty. I was just being an ass. But everything else I said about Cubs fans I coldheartedly believe

Honestly I have no beef with the Cubs. Outside of this series I'm pulling for them. I love their entire top of the lineup. Two former Marlins, and an LSU alum (Todd Walker). I really hope the Cubs get it together. It would be good thing for baseball.

But thanks again for the kind words cubsfan!

What's with some of you people? This guy comes onto our website, and says nothing but complimentary things about the Marlins and their fans. Meanwhile, what does he get in return? "Oh, Cubs fans are terrible human beings. Let's tar and feather the whole lot of 'em. You're okay though, so thanks for being nice." You don't have to qualify liking him, by saying you dislike people similar to him. Some things are better left unsaid. Learn how to be just a little more gracious. Jeeze.

Class act. True baseball fan. I don't think there is any true baseball fan out there that can't respect how hard the Marlins play. Good things will come

Hey there Tiger, take a look at the AAA Iowa Cubs. Up the middle you've got 2 Tigers off the 2000 World Series team playing, Fontenot and Theriot. Cubs fans are everywhere in the country. Do they ever play an away game?

I don't really know what to say...I've never heard a cubs fan speak that way of another team, especially the Marlins follwing 2003. Thank you though. Although we are all pretty much die-hard Marlins fans, we are just a little percentage compared to the rest of Miami and Florida for that matter, but maybe if we get this stadium deal done, other people will see the light. As for the cubs, I only wish we can lure back JP. You guys have a wonderful player who loves and respects the game. Take pleasure in having him on your team, as well as D-Lee.
