Adam Dunn on the block?

Featured Replies

Anyone else think the Marlins should try hard for Adam Dunn. The guy is an absolute stud, and I'd give the Reds Nolasco and Jacobs plus a Petit or Pinto type prospect (if they threw down some cash). What do you guys think? He'd fit in perfect behind Miguel.

he gets paid alot next year and the year afterwards has a huge option too.

Pretty much be the same amount as arod would be but less effective and his OPS dropped hugely last year.

I'll pass.

Wow, I had to look, 194 strikeouts. Those 40 homeruns look great until you look at the rest of his stats.

Yeah. He's pretty much an all-or-nothing type of player.

Give us anything resembling pitching and he is yours.

On the block is an understatement. He's the anti-Krivsky.

A strikeout is as much of an out as a groundout, or a flyout, or a foulout. This is a guy who has mammoth power, walks a ton, and would represent a dangerous power option behind Cabrera. Consider that before this year he has only had one year with an OBP under .370.

Consider that in what was arguably his worse year, the only Marlin to get on base more often than him was Cabrera, and only Josh Willingham and Cabrera slugged better. In a normal year for him, he would be bar none our 2nd best hitter behind Cabrera.

"He's hit 126 home runs over the past three seasons. Only David Ortiz and Albert Pujols have more. Dunn also has a .380 OBP over the last three seasons. Better than Carlos Delgado, David Wright, Mark Teixeira, Miguel Tejada, Carlos Beltran, Aramis Ramirez, or Andruw Jones " Thats not bad but hes not worth Jacob and Nolasco but I would give them Nolsco and petit

A strikeout can do absolutely nothing for the team but get you one out closer to ending the inning. A groundout and/or flyout can move runners over and drive in a run or set up a scoring chance. Yeah, they both count as one out though, but they are not the same. If you watched the Marlins blow their chances in innings so many times this year you would understand the difference.

a groundout can also lead to a double play, or replacing a quicker runner with a slower one

anyway, for someone like Nolasco, I woul pull the trigger for Adam Dunn, but if we are gonna spend all that many, Id rather go after someone else

He has great power. And that's it. Doesn't fit this orginization at all and what they're trying to accomplish. Even if we could afford his massive contract.

I definitely wouldnt want Dunn up to bat if we needed a sac fly but he is interesting even though his defense in LF is like Willingham's if not worse and I cant comment on his defense at 1b because I havent seen him play 1b all that much.

Strikeouts are worse, they can't advance a runner.

This year was an off year for Dunn, he is a reliable .900+ OPS guy that draws a lot of walks and hits for a ton of power. But an excellent ballplayer that doesn't happen to fill the big gap in the Marlins lineup is still not worth acquiring. Just get a CF, they are out there and available.

GDP is a rare result compared to the number of grounders that advance runners. Also a fielder's choice is as likely to replace a runner with a faster runner as it is to replace him with a slower one.

Yeah...........I think I'll pass on that one. Besides, I seriously doubt bringing him here would make this team any better.

Yes and it can also lead to a Double Play, your point is? If he came cheap, and considering we'd receive cash, I don't see why not. This guy just needs to be patient.

Have you ever watched him? If anything, he is too patient.

Doesnt he remind anyone of Hermy in a way or is it just me?

If Hermida ever hit 40 homers I'd be shocked.

I'll do it, w/e it take for the marlins to add their name in the record book. Yes even if the record happen to be the most K's :plaindance

nope. I don't want him. We have enough strikeouts already. The guy hits .230 for chrissake..but obviously he'll hit you 30 homers. not worth it. no thanks.
