October 7, 200322 yr cant go wrong with an extra arm. Felipe Alou did. It shouldn't matter too much because it doesn't look like McKeon will overmanage and overuse his bench; he didn't in the first round. But I hope Bump doesn't get anywhere near a game unless we have a double digit lead.
October 7, 200322 yr The difference is this is a seven game series as opposed to a five game series, hence the extra arm. I would have been surprised if this move wasn't made. With Lowell on the bench as an extra infielder in effect, Fox was expendable. Go Fish!

He's the all-time leader that's sporting a robust .193 average with a whopping .272 OBP this year while bringing nothing to the table defensively. His pinch hitting stats this year? .200 average with a .282 OBP in 40 pinch hit ABs. There's no justification for keeping him. Like I said - garbage.

You obviously know nothing ofhis contributions to this team in his short Marlin career, and you certainly know nothing of what happened in Chicago. He's not a starter, and can't be used as a starter. That's where Dusty went wrong, and that's why his stats are so deflated. And why does he need defensive skills anyway? He's only going to get one at-bat for the pitcher and then they just stick another pitcher in his spot. Not only that, but he's STILL an above average defensive player, when he's in the field. Like I said- you know nothing.

October 7, 200322 yr The way I look at it is this 1b - Banks, Conine, Lowell, Mordy, Harris 2b Mordy, ss Cabrera, Mordy 3b Lowell, Mordy, Harris Since Fox has added little value and pitching wins games, I like the move. With this move, you do not have to double switch in key situations, just use PH and pitchers, leaving your regulars out there. PH Banks, Mordy, Redmond, Lowell, Harris

Lenny started at third for the Cubs this year, even though he says himself he's no longer a starter, he knows the team (The Cubs), the man knows how to hit, we already have Lowell on the bench, Cabs can (no doubt in my mind) play SS if called upon, Mordy can park one if the baseball gods are smiling his way, Fox was the obvious odd man out. (If I could just get Wild to stop saying things like "you obviously know nothing" I'd probably agree with him more.)
October 7, 200322 yr the way the bench has been utilized so far.... you will see Hollandsworth and Harris as your primary pinch hitters. Banks will probably be the third guy on the depth chart. After that.....its a crap shoot.
