June 24, 200719 yr well i went tonight and it really blowed and was actually embarassing...but regardless fredi plans on platooning amezaga and carrol in the leadoff spot which i thought he would do but i do not agree with him platooning jacobs and boone. no doubt boone has been great but i think he should get some starts at first and third but ultimately jacobs is our guy and if we want him to be the hitter he can be he needs at bats against lefties. any thoughts?
June 24, 200719 yr I think Jacobs should play at least 90% of the time. Jacobs might be able to hit lefty pitching as he got off to a good start against them this season. Boone is likely only here for 1 season like Helms was so the Marlins need to find out if Jacobs can handle a full workload.
June 24, 200719 yr Author i just dont like it ..... boone has been great but jake should be in there yeah about 90% of the time.
June 24, 200719 yr even more reason then to give Jake a shot. When Jake has a day off, it can be against a lefty and Boone could play 1B that day.. When Boone leaves, who's gonna platoon with Jake?
June 24, 200719 yr Aaron Boone is hitting LHP poorly this season. Not just this season...his career BAA is nearly 30 points less, his SLG is over 30 points less, and his OPS is over 20 points less against LHP compared to RHP throughout his career. And the only minor league splits I can find on Jacobs has him hitting LHP very very well So yeah, what? :confused
June 24, 200719 yr Yea both have struggled against lefties, so pick your poison Jake is hitting better vs lefties this season than he is righties. Maybe last year was a fluke because of the injuries.
June 24, 200719 yr How bout putting Cabrera back in the outfield and moving Boone to Third? That would make sense except........that would mean that everyone's favorite .220 hitting 23 year old would be benched. Also, I wonder if Cabrera would pitch a fit or not.

You get better and better every post. I love it. So Cabrera is "too fat" to play third according to most everyone on this board, and you want to put him in the outfield? That's ridiculous.

Center would be more suitable for him :plaindance . He would be everyones nightmare in the outfield.
June 24, 200719 yr If I recall right Cabs was probably worse in RF than Hermida is. Also no reason to move Cabs off of 3rd. And no reason to take someone with Hermidas on base ability out of the lineup.
June 24, 200719 yr lol yes let's put Cabrera in RF and bench Hermida brilliant i for one dont ever want to see that crap happen ever again.
June 25, 200719 yr lol yes let's put Cabrera in RF and bench Hermida brilliant Not if Hermida plays CF. :shifty Not sure if your being serious or not but...... How can he play CF is he can't even hack RF?
June 25, 200719 yr I like Boone but Jake should be a full time starter and moving Boone to the outfield doesn't make this ream better. I just wish people would stop dumping on Hermida for once
June 25, 200719 yr ultimately I really wanted them to try out Hermida in CF. now I'm not so sure. Still an idea for down the road if he settles in defensively out there & is injury free.
