June 17, 200818 yr Author Hey Jon thanks man take your time. Whenver you can post the video i would appreciate it, thanks.
June 18, 200818 yr I call out those that don't go to the games that live near by. Not once, ever, have I said anything about folks that live a long ways away or have financial difficulties that don't enable them to attend. You want to defend those folks?? Fine. Stick your fingers in your ears, holler out lalalala, ignore our attendance records and the problem will go away. That's worked great so far. But you want to continue with the name calling because I have no sympathy or respect for those that live within a 50 mile radius and continually repeat all the lame excuses of why, then this conversation is over. Money is a real lame excuse. f*** paying your bills, Miami! You aren't a real fan if you are eating!
June 18, 200818 yr I love watching rich and tommy's telecast so I stay home and watch on tv! no? No, but seriously, I can't afford season tickets, so I go to as many games as I can. Usually about 20-30+ games a season. And I have always converted people I know into game-attending Marlins fans. So I might not go to ALL home games, not even half sometimes, but I do what I can to be there when I can. And no one can question my fanhood.
June 19, 200818 yr Hey Bronco, I'm sure you if you make just a few more jokes and complaints about the fans they'll start going to games in droves. Just like how the gas prices have gone down with everyone complaining about them. And I'm sure if everyone just ignores that we don't go to the games everyone will start going. Ignore it and it will go away never did work for anything. The point of my analogy to gas prices is that complaining about an issue to anyone you encounter isn't going to produce results. There are many problems that wouldn't be resolved unless someone spoke up. This isn't one of them. It's not a situation where there are thousands of people who just need to hear someone complain about attendance to motivate them to go to games. If anything, hearing that there is little interest in the team would almost certainly curb interest from casual uninformed fans. What it will most likely take to get attendance up to respectable levels is a team that wins consistently and is playing in a new stadium. It's not an issue that should be ignored, but incessantly bringing it up on the internet won't resolve the issue.
June 19, 200818 yr Since this thread is about the "Amezaga Catch" video, Tommy and Rich said they have the tape and it will be shown Sunday (I assume as part of the pre-game) and future broadcasts as well. It's kind of funny how this little piece of video trivia seem to have taken on a life of its own. I hope it's worth all the hype and build up. Does anyone know anything about the play? Infield? Outfield? Circumstances (beyond it's in the Mexican League)? I suppose I can wait until Sunday to see it but I admit to being really curious what we're in for.

Amezaga is playing SS and it's similar to the Ozzie Smith "Greatest Play Ever" where he dives, glove high, ball bounces funny and he barehands it instead... so I've heard, and by the looks of the youtube video showing the very end of the play, it seems right... I guess for circumstances... it ends the inning... Rich and Tommy are also, indirectly, responsible for youtube taking it down
June 19, 200818 yr amezaga dives to his right, and while laying on the ground, throws the ball behind him to second base. like, lay face down, hands by your side, palms skyward. now raise your right arm. that's how he threw the ball. Just barely missed getting a double play too.

It was a nice play but it wasn't the Willy Mays over the shoulder catch or th Ozzie Smith catch. In fact I have seen Vizquel do more amazin catches

June 19, 200818 yr I see. I'm not a real fan. I should enjoy going to the ball park and continuously being out numbered by the opposing teams fans. Especially within a 50 mile radius of the stadium there are about 2.5 mil people living, if not more. That we are always near the bottom of the attendance category. That we can't pull 20K when the two best teams in MLB are playing each other. When we can't pull 15K when a historic event like Jr's was about to happen. But wait!!! We have great TV ratings!!! WHOO-HOOO. One would have to wonder what those attendance numbers would look like if they only counted those that cheered for the Marlins. How many times have you watched games on TV when the opposing fans are able to be louder than the home fans because there are more of them?? Besides the Marlins games. I would have said you had a good reason not to attend many games living in PSL. But by defending the ones that live near and don't go you automatically put yourself in their category. Congratulations. You are a true Marlins fan. You don't go to the games and yet bash anyone that complains about the poor attendance figures year after year. That statement is so ridiculously ignorant really, I'm floored... suddenly my reason for not going to 20 games a year is negated? I defended people that your ignorant blanket statements cover. People like Phxphin, Bobbob, Holly, myself... etc. I don't bash people that complain about poor attendance figures, I call out people that bash their peers. 2.5 Million people in the 50 mile radius and this site has a memberlist of roughly 5000 people... and an easy majority of them rarely/never/don't post here anymore. The remainder DO go to games as often as they can. But it's effective to call people out here... that'll get 'em there, not a winning record, not Griffey, but you bashing them. Oh... and word for the wise... NEVER question my fandom, I've sat through this team from day one, no different than you have, I was there opening day in 97, 99, 2003 and easily 40 games sprinkled between there. Moved in 2004, so I have gone to a grand total of 3 games since then, especially hard when I was in Tampa with no method of transportation for almost a year. I call out those that don't go to the games that live near by. Not once, ever, have I said anything about folks that live a long ways away or have financial difficulties that don't enable them to attend. You want to defend those folks?? Fine. Do you also call out people that live near the movies and don't go?

June 22, 200818 yr Only a "true" athlete could have made that play. Amezaga is an all around baseball player and hes awesome fun to watch. I hope his groin isn't too bad at least I think it was his groin last night.
