Manny in Florida?

Featured Replies

We'd have the worst defensive OF in baseball.

Outs = single

Single = Double

Double = Triple

Josh Willingham and Allison for Manny? In a second, and I'd hope the Marlins would be willing to eat half the contract, Hermida? Hell no.

Hmmm that would mean we would have to trade for some ground ball pitchers because there would be no way to get an out in the OF!!!!!

Everyone in Boston (Owners, Fans, Teammates) all are sick of manny. They put him on waivers a few years back they just want to get rid of him. If they can get a few guys back I can see it happening. I don't know if Hermida and Allison is enough though

Completely different times. Back then Manny still had 80mil or so left on his contract and no one was touching that. With only 7 mil left it's obviously much more affordable.

I don't think there's much chance of Ramirez being dealt, let alone ending up in Florida.

That said: if the Red Sox are willing to accept Hermida and Allison for Ramirez, you do that deal in a heartbeat. Worry about defensive alignments later. Obviously an OF of Ramirez, Willingham, and any CF is defensively untenable. But Willingham can either be shifted to 1B (with Jacobs being moved) or dealt elsewhere, with a RF being picked up in a separate deal.

If Manny is acquired (which, again, I find highly unlikely) for a Hermida-based package it'd have to be the first of a chain of moves that would result in two new corner OFs, unless the FO believes Raynor (RF) or Maybin (CF, with Ross to RF) can step in right away. Considering Maybin just returned from a DL stint and still has major pitch selection issues they won't go with him. I like Raynor alot, but he isn't ready either. The new RF probably has to come from outside the organization.

Skip bayless of 1st and ten on espn just said it would take a Hanley Ramirez like player for the Red Sox to pull the trigger and let Manny Go.

We'll see if he is right soon enough. Either way, he's gone in 09 from whatever team he finishes the year up on.

Proving once again that Skip Bayless is an idiot.

He meant it as they wont give him up unless they get a bat to protect Big Papi.

Not nessisarily dumb. It makes sense for the Red Sox to hold onto him unless they can get a #3 bat for the lineup. Willinham or Jacobs are the only 2 who make sense for the Sox.

Anything less would make boston uncivilized.

There's no way Boston takes Hermida and Allison. They would conceding the AL East. Plus I would be mad as hell if they trade Hermida
