August 3, 200817 yr yeah man here we we see more proof of fredi's mancrushes on his pitchers. Leave ricky out there!!!! he was mowing the rockies down AND he stilll had more left in the tank, come on fredi you know better than that. BUT im glad that gregg didnt f*** sh*t up lol good job overall, GO FISH!!
August 3, 200817 yr I wanted the complete game but all that matters in the end is the W. Great win. ditto....though i'm not sure why fredi is so afraid of the complete games :mis2 Nolasco and Baker had great games today, props to Gregg for the 9th as well :thumbup
August 3, 200817 yr Disagree with Freddy being an idiot...I mean, yeah, I would have liked to see the CG, but Holliday was coming up, he was 3-3 with 2 HR, and it was the heart of the lineup. Sure, Ricky may have been able to go the distance, but right now, so close in the running, I'd rather be safe then sorry. Thank you Freddy.
August 3, 200817 yr o, i didnt think about that. i sort of agree with that, but i still would have sent him out there
August 3, 200817 yr I wanted the complete game but all that matters in the end is the W. Great win. I agree with Admin. But, we just need a victory, and Nolasco & Gregg did their job. That's it.
August 3, 200817 yr Excellent win tonight. Ricky was awesome again. Hammer Is finally starting to look like himself. Go Marlins and Go Astros.
August 3, 200817 yr Ya know what, this far down the stretch into things and how close we are in contention, I don't mind the move. Let's go ASTROS! If they can beat the Mets in extra's.... we take second place.

Yep...if that part of the order wasn't up, then maybe Fredi would've given him a chance. I didn't get my hopes up. Whatever. The constant flaking out with RISP becomes less bothersome when you get pitching performances like that of Ricky tonight. And how 'bout Jake legging out that triple? And how creepy was Rich and Tommy's interview with the Bangles???
August 3, 200817 yr you all make valid points about Fredi's move but for me, I disagreed with it because the rockies are the team that got to Kevin last time. They must have been elated to see Ricky leave for Gregg...giving them that little boost in momentum in a 2 run game was way too risky for me. I'd rather go with a tired Ricky than giving the Rox that tiny bit of confidence. but Kev did his job, it worked out, we won...thats all that matters
August 3, 200817 yr i think that management might stick with baker behind the plate. his average isn't high but he's hitting homeruns and they always seem to put us in the lead
August 3, 200817 yr Who cares about the complete game? Doesn't matter. Ricky did great tonight, and Gregg did his job. My problem is we had a problem putting the game away early. Maybe if we would've gotten another hit or two with .RISP earlier in the game, we probably would've seen Ricky out there for the 9th. We got away with it tonight, thanks to Ricky giving us an ace-like performance, and Gregg getting the save at the end, but the bats need to start making more contact. Too many K's. We were facing Valerio de los Santos, for crying out loud.
August 3, 200817 yr Nolasco had a great game, but in the end the CG isn't as important as the win and also using a guy like Gregg regularly. He needed to pitch and he was in there for the save.

I agree. Gregg is a guy who likes to work, and he was 8 for his last 8, heading into that save opportunity. Even his last outing, where he allowed a run (against the Mets), he looked very good out there. Gotta make sure he stays sharp.
August 3, 200817 yr 13 K's and no walks for Ricky. :dwarf And if you add Gregg's 9th inning...15 K's and no walks. Nice pitching tonight (especially from Ricky, of course).
August 3, 200817 yr Great performance tonight by Nolasco but it's too bad he couldn't finish the game. His PC was at 93 so I thought for sure Fredi would let him go for the CG. Great win, though.
August 3, 200817 yr 13 K's and 0 walks jesus f'n christ his K/BB ratio is mathmatically impossible to calculate, that's just how awesome ricky is
