Post Game 8/7

Volstad gets my vote. Huge win today. What a performance by Volstad.

We won't face Santana when playing the Mets so good chance we can take the series from them. Let's do it.

but Rachel don't forget that when santana pitches the mets bullpen blows the game :thumbup

I missed the F***IN GAME :banghead . How the hell did I not realize that the game was a day game? Well I'm glad to see the Fish won and Volstad pitched well.

Don't worry, although you did miss a fabulous game, I believe Rab has missed many more games do to time issues. :lol

I am not positive about that though.

Just check the game thread forum every once in a while I always post the times on the Post title.

WHY THE HELL IS BRETT FAVRE A JET?!

I hate the NFL.

I was gonna go with Volstad, but I decided to give the 'pen some love for not coughing up the lead, which is never safe at Citizens Bank. They look real good compared to the Mets' pen right now. Hopefully that will carry over to the big weekend series at Shea.

Good to see Matty back in action as well. He gets honorable mention.

This was a great series for our pitchers. They would have shut them out twice if it wasn't for that fake home run by Victorino and they did it while playing in a tiny sandbox. Volstad gets my vote for player of the game.

Chris had a very nice start, and he didn't even have his best stuff. He needs to keep the walks down, because not every club is gonna do that bad with RISP. Matt Treanor had some good swings, good to see him back there. It was also good to have Matt back, to slow down the running game. Great job by the pen, getting out of the jam in the 8th.

Espn recapped the game, it was a very pretty highlight...

very nice defense and they even said our D was outstanding today.

I too missed the game....

I woke up around 3:30 and thought to myself... I'll shower and head on over to Rab's house and watch the game there but to my surprise, the game was already over.

Oh, well. Awesome win for the Fish.

Volstads curveball was really workin today. and that pitch he threw to bruntlett for a strike was halarious. bruntlett couldnt do anything about it and just walk away before the ball got in treanors glove. HAHAHAHA

Well, I caught the first 5 1/2 innings (right around till Cody made that play basically). Went to the barber shop after, though.

I got 2 questions.

1. Who did Arthur Rhodes get out?

2. How did Kevin Gregg look? I know he got a scoreless inning for the save, but he allowed a double, according to the box score. Was his stuff lookin' good today, or what? Also, how was his control today?

lol I literally kept score today and am very glad that Erick asked for details...glad I did it for a reason!

Anyways...Rhodes faced 3 men in the 8th, victorino utley and howard, victorino doubled but he got utley to fly to left then worked howard for nine pitches before getting howard to tap a ground ball back to arthur for the out. that was two outs and then lindstrom came in to face burrell, who walked before lindstrom got jenkins to ground out...

Kevin Gregg didnt give up any double, he faced 4 men in the ninth and looked good, the only baserunner came on a hermida error that allowed jayson werth to get on base, but he was stranded cause kevin got out dobbs and rollins with ground balls to uggla to save the game. Kevin looked very good except he worked the count full to chris coste lead off the inning. He got the out but his control wasn't precise, probably from not working for 5 days straight. But after Coste, Gregg found his groove and retired the side after just 6 more pitches, all of which were strikes...

Hey, my random scorekeeping was finally put to good use!

Hope it helped!

Thanks!

Nice to hear Rhodes got the 2 big lefties out...

Also, good to hear about Gregg. I was checking my phone the whole time at the barber shop, and it initially said Werth doubled. Even if he did, at least I know it was Hermida's fault.

Also...I might watch the re-run they give later on, just to see it, myself. Anyone doing the same? :) We won...so why not, eh? :D

Jeremy ran into Uggla on that play in the 9th, in some ways it was Uggla's mistake for going way into the right fielder's territory, but Jeremy gets the error cause the ball never touched Dan's glove, bouncing out of Jeremys...and Werth was smart enough to keep hustling all the way to second...that seemingly lit up Kevin though as he turned it on right there and ended the inning just six pitches later...

man this scorekeeping thing sure is useful at times!
