Only 600 fans at game today!!!

Featured Replies

no its not, its a Wednesday, people have things like JOBS, and kids have SCHOOL, and its 1 PM, scoarching hot, I say i am proud of those 600, they have the balls to go to a game nobody cares about

it is embarassing but to be fair why a game was scheduled on a weekday in the afternoon not on a holiday it makes no sense to me

yeh does anyone have any idea or information why this was a day game?

There really is no excuse for this. Very very sad.

Atleast once a new stadium rolls around, attendance will be higher and we wont have to worry about the team moving.

I know the excuses...I didn't go because I got tied up at work, but at least I wanted to go. It makes the perception around the country even worse about this team and the fans.

w/e WE WON

idc if we have 0 fans as long as we win to prove every1 wrong

I would care if there was 0 fans, then there is no incoming money to pay for our staff and players

When someone finds me another team that schedules a midweek day game in 90 degree weather, I'll agree with there being "no excuse".

There is a reason no other team does this.

Well, the Rangers played an afternoon game against the Mariners today. It's usually about 90 plus degrees this time of the year there...then again I have no idea how many fans were at that game today.

1) We don't know that for sure

and

2) Let me tell you one thing about Miami/South Florida. It is the biggest bandwagon town in the entire U.S.A.!

Nobody cares about their teams down here unless they are in the championship, with the exception of the Miami Dolphins who have been continually bad for who knows how long. In Florida, football is king. Gators, Noles, Canes, Dolphins, Jags, Bucs. It's all that is ever talked about on the radio, TV, newspaper, and general public. When any of the other major sports teams in Miami are performing poorly, you'll see an empty arena/stadium.

Point in case, the Miami Heat. About five years ago, they were the laughing stock of the league. Then all of the sudden, Wade emerges as a star and Shaq is traded to them, and they are a hot commodity, quickly becomming the toughest ticket in town.

Walk down the street and ask a local how the Panthers are doing this year and you'll probably get a look as though you were from another planet. Either that or a response of "4 and 4, 3rd place. NFC South."

Other parts of the country care about their sports teams no matter how well they do.

I'm sure weather has somewhat of an effect on the attendance, but I think some of you people put way too much into that. The reason they don't draw well is because people don't care about baseball down here.

think i saw on the box score they had around 12,000 today in Texas, but then again it said we had 11,000 when in reality it was much less

First of all. Almost all the season ticket holders work and/or have children in school. How do they expect to have a high attendance? What are people going to do... tell their teacher/manager etc that they have to go to a baseball game? Thats a good excuse.

Wednesday @ 1pm during school is terrible.

First post here (although I've been lurking for a while). I follow the Marlins here in Tennessee.

What are the reasons why people don't go to the games?? I really don't know. It just amazes me nobody attends the games!?!? And this is Miami for goodness sake!

Can somebody clue me in on this? Is it some sort of sour grapes with the ownership?? (I vaguely remember somebody telling me that on an unrelated, non baseball message board last year)

The AP just said this:

The first home day game for the Rangers since July 13 drew an announced attendance of 12,882, though the stands appeared to be far emptier.

Our announced attendance was 11,211. So yeah, it's not just us.

See my post above.

It's no shock that the Marlins have the worst fans in baseball.

No we don't. We have a small fan base, but to say that the fans they have are "the worst in baseball" is completely wrong.

I think its because the people who lived in South Florida the whole lives want to get out of the state (they move) and people who want to come to South Florida are fans of other teams. Who knows, I would love to go to more games but I live too far.

Prove me wrong
