Wow. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

Edit: Nevermind, I had no clue you were 15. I guess you do kiss her with that mouth.

again, if u are here to trash talk somebody else and not talk about the marlins, please just GTFO. We do not need any bad seeds like u here to spoil these forums

What are you even talking about? I said the Marlins have a horrible fan base and now I am a bad seed.

I know the tv ratings are sky high, just got to get them out to the ballpark. Easier said than done, I suppose.

That's worked well for the Pirates.

But I hope you are right. I'd love for baseball to thrive in South Florida.

Pirates have some of the worst ratings in baseball.

That said, that sh*t will happen when you have 16 straight losing seasons.

The fact that the Florida Marlins are a Mickey Mouse organization doesn't help the fan base, either.

You can't trade Miguel Cabrera and expect people to just come out and support the team. This fan base has been betrayed countless times, and I don't think we will see an improvement until our stars stay put. Signing Hanley is a good start, hopefully we'll see more and people will regain interest.

Oh please...I was agreeing with you, until this bullcrap.

So what if they traded Cabrera? The team has actually gotten better this year, than last.

Pittsburgh ranks 29th out of 30 in attendance. I dont think it helped that much.

Miami is a much bigger market though, so it could work out better for us.

He's right though, a majority of passive fans identify with the names... and when they heard Cabs was traded they said "screw it" hopped back on in the hot streak and now they're back off... C'est las vie

Considering the Marlins had a similar crowd for a day game like this last year...I don't think it has much to do with Miguel Cabrera.

The fairweather fanbase (in general) combined with the fact that this is a horrible time for a game is the reason for the horrid attendance.

Hey, when I first heard Cabrera was traded the first thing i thought was "the Management out to screw the fans again" they build a guy to his absolute highest value, and when he reaches the point where he deserves to be paid the way he is playing, they trade him. That has been typical of this franchise for years

Erick, I don't remember because at the time the Florida Marlins won in 97...well i was 7 years old...you prob don't rmember either. only thing i remember i went to one of the gamesi n the season when alex fernandez was pitching and his son went to my school so he gave me an autograph andm y dad and him became buddies......well aside from the story. My Dad told me the day the marlins won faster then you can blink they traded all the good players away...of course we all know what happened in 98. what im saying is that the FO has to put some money in and sign 1 or 2 good vets that can help us win. now some teams show even with alot of names you can't win(tigers). reason is the marlins lost alot of fanbase when that trading after 97 happened...i mean at least in 03 they kept some core players.....but still let go of D Lee and pudge.

The last time the management showed that they cared about winning to the fans was during the 2005 season when we signed Delgado, of course he didn't lead us to the playoffs but at least he showed us that he cared. I believe attendance was extremely high that year, all we want is for the FO to show us hope, show us they want to keep a core of players around for a while, and we will show up, i promise u

A) '97 is irrelevant...plain and simple, I remember well. It wasn't the same front office back then. Not even close.

B) It's not about signing big-name players. It's about signing good fits for the team to win games. Whether it be a big name player like Pudge Rodriguez...or a platoon guy like Mike Redmond. The point is...who can help us win? It's a team game, for a reason.

C) It's all about winning with the fans. If it wasn't...they would've gone when we signed Carlos Delgado. But they didn't b/c the team was mediocre. Once again...it's not all about the big name player...

Chicken or the egg? The Marlins can't exactly afford to sign anyone if people don't pay for attendance.

The Marlins ranked 28th in attendance in 2005. Higher attendance? Yeah. Good attendance? No.

You're wrong, the attendance dropped from 26th in 2004 to 28th in 2005.

fans won't show if the front office doesn't show they care about winning, when they repeatedly trade off every team we have, that is not giving our fanbase much hope. It always just comes down to winning, if we are winning, there will be 40-50,000 fans a game, if we are losing, we are not going to bring anybody in

Paid attendance was almost 12,000 for todays game.

If the Marlins had high expectations for next season, I think they would be able to sell more than that in just season tickets.

Actually, that is pretty high for the Marlins. :thumbup

The Marlins have never averaged 40-50,000 per game.

And don't confuse the Marlins front office, with the Marlins ownership

ouch, I stand corrected, thanks Rab, just showed the marlins haven't had any fans show up to the game since 97, I don't even feel a new stadium will do it. If they wanted to bring fans, they should have built the stadium where the condos are (they weren't there last year) near Panthers arena, they could've attracted Hialiah, Broward, Pompano beach and others that i can't think of currently, all of these are via the turnpike. The marlins just ran out of time and i believe settled for Hialiah, in an area that is a bad nieborhood, I feel there will not be a huge increase in attendence
