September 17, 200818 yr not updated for todays games: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/ps_odds.php 0.13257% at the divison, 0.05410% at the wild card, so a total of 0.18667% chance of making the playoffs.
September 17, 200818 yr From Fox Sports while evaluating the various playoff races: As well, the remaining schedule strongly benefits the Phillies (they'll play all their games against the drain-circling Braves, Marlins and Nationals). Since the Phils are also healthier, give them the nod in the East. WOW That is surely a bit harsh calling us, a team thats 6 games over .500, a "drain-circling" team. And we have a 9-6 record against the Phillies this season. so it will be that much sweeter when we sweep them at home Man, they sure are opening themselves up to looking real stupid. It would take a miracle to get us to the playoffs, but we aren't out yet and we are playing some pretty good baseball while the other teams in the hunt aren't.
September 17, 200818 yr What does drain-circling mean? Not sure exactly how to interpret the phrase But basically they are implying sh*t teams like the Braves, Marlins and Nationals. And we are by no means a sh*t team

And we are by no means a sh*t team oh i see. Do they not know that we are 9-6 against them and that we are 3-0 against their ace. Dumb asses

It means that someone is dying but clinging to life. It has nothing to do with "being sh*t".

September 18, 200818 yr How uphill is it for the Marlins? Well they have won 6 games in a row and have made up no ground whatsoever either for the division or the WC. It's pretty much time to start thinking about 2009. It's a shame because the Marlins really should have deserved better. I know there were injuries but Fredi couldn't win when the team went into a batting slump, or at least keep the team comptetive. That is the difference between the good managers and the mediocre ones. This team played their heart out and unfortunately moral victories are shallow and meaningless in baseball. This club with the pitching it had after the all star game should have gotten more wins, many more wins.

No really Our O dissapeared for a while in the 2nd half.
September 18, 200818 yr we need both team ahead of us in wildcards and division to loss that most likely wont happen
September 18, 200818 yr Thsi is probably gonna upset alot of people but i think we should skip anibals start vs the Phils. They got so many good lefties and anibals splits vs lefties are crazy their hitting 348 against him and philly has already hit him well twice. I know he threw well last time but it was the nats. This wont happen i know but i just have a bad feelin unless we hit like we did last night we wont get enough runs to win.

Sure, Anibal has struggled mightily of late, however he is coming off a much improved performance in his last start. Miller would be the obvious choice as a replacement, however I read the reason he is still in the bullpen is cos the team is not comfortable running him out for extended outings (eg a start) as his leg is still suffering or something like that, and wont be properly healed until the offseason.

Plus, wer going against Moyer, and we really need a pitcher who can give us a chance in that game. I say either Miller or Hendrickson.
September 18, 200818 yr up to a .59% chance of getting into the post-season per BP. Win streak needs to keep on rolling.

September 18, 200818 yr Author nice, I made this thread when we were 8 games back of the WC, 8 and a half out of the division, we have gained a lot of ground since then, LETS KEEP IT ROLLING, ending the season on a high note, and seeing what we have for next year is most important right now

Not saying that we are going to make the playoffs just like that, but those numbers are so far off its not even funny. 1 in 1000, really? All we ask for is that the Phillies, or Mets, lose 2 games not including us, and the rest is in our own hands... its much higher than that, it seems to me.

Anibal's turn is on Saturday against Joe Blanton, so we should provide our guy with some run support
