May 14, 200917 yr Yeah he's done for.... Mayben is a bust! He won't ever make it in the majors... We got screwed in the Cabrera trade. I think this was a joke and I hope your signature is too because although I don't like Bonifacio at all and think he should be on the bench, he's a very good bunter and baserunner. I think he needs to work on his bunting skills some more. But there has been good offensive progress so far. He's learning and progessing. But there will always be those with so much hate that they will refuse to see it. It isnt hate, and I am curious to know what offensive progress you have seen out of Bonifacio.

Hes looked good over the last handfull of games. Multi hit games and scoring runs.
May 14, 200917 yr Hopefully they'll cure him of CRD (Cody Ross Disease, humongously long swing) so when he comes back he has the bat control and pitch recognition he needs to stay in the bigs for fifteen years. I honestly could care less (within reasonable bounds) what his numbers look like in the minors as long as he's working on the right things and getting the right mentoring.
May 15, 200917 yr Maybin has 4 game hitting streak since he was demoted. That's a interesting. Yeah, he's hitting .368 in his first four games. Hmmm. We'll see. I definitely didn't expect him to struggle, that's for sure. Hopefully he'll be up before we know it.

Hes looked good over the last handfull of games. Multi hit games and scoring runs. He was looking better at the plate before he started this little hitting streak, too. Less Ks and making contact. There has been improvement even if there needs to be more. I'm not as high as others for him working counts for walks. I wouldn't mind seeing more, but I think with a speedster things are a little different. Making contact and putting the ball in play for a guy like that can cause so many things to happen. He's learning. And, yes, Spike. It is hate, and a little of the "I can't be wrong" syndrome. I tend to lean towards guys on the team that others show an unusual and unwarranted amount of contempt for. Especially young guys that are really looking better than the Board Golden Boys that haven't been able to hit water falling out of a boat for the first 6 weeks of the season. Guys that get the "He's hitting the ball just right at people. Unlucky right now." Compared to the "He's hitting the ball but right at people. He sucks." People can hit me saying what his minor league numbers were and what he did at this level for the Nats. But that would be saying those coaching staffs are on an equal par to ours. And I doubt that is true.

And maybe our coaching staff is better than the Nats', but the best coaching staff in the world can't change the type of player a guy has been for 15 years.
May 15, 200917 yr If anyone is a "Golden Boy" on this team, it's Bonifacio. You'd have to be completely blind not to notice the affection the FO has had for him from the very start. In his case, it's based on nothing. At least with the other proclaimed golden boys, there's basis for favor.
May 15, 200917 yr It's just amazing the impunity with which people make stuff up and pass it off as fact or truth.

I've said many times I'm a fence sitter on Jeremy. Won't bash or defend him. BUT I've also said this was the year he has to produce or he's gone. And from recent history of his name being thrown around for trade and his sitting the bench late last season, along with his lack of production (runs scored and ribbies) this year....I see him being traded this year. Step it up or step out. 15 years? I thought we were discussing a young 3B for the Marlins. Or are you saying our coaching staff is no better, and has no more insight into what makes a MLB player than your run of the mill Little League coach?

BGB = Board Golden Boy You would have to be completely blind not to see the potential and the improvement while the BGBs have displayed nothing. And yes the FO is showing some trust in him. And it has been paying off. Keep watching. And learning. Future HOFer? Sincerely doubt that. Future face of this franchise? Ditto. But very good player that fills a role for a few more years on this team? Definetly. Bank on it.
May 15, 200917 yr It's just amazing the impunity with which people make stuff up and pass it off as fact or truth. What exactly are you talking about here? I see an interesting conversation coming up Saturday night. You know I always welcome it, and where to find me. I respect the fact you are one of the few that will go face to face. No matter how much we disagree.
May 16, 200917 yr Maybin leaves with back ailment Zephyrs outfielder Cameron Maybin left the game in the fourth inning with a strained back.

May 16, 200917 yr How do prospects like Maybin that are prone to a lot of groundballs and a lot of strikeouts translate to MLB? I assume a lot fewer groundballs become hits at the MLB level than in the minors so my guess is probably not too good. Players like Maybin never translate well to the majors early on they tend to take some time to develop, and some never make it because of that. If we do see Maybin make an impact on a mlb line up it wont be until he's 27-29 around there, and by then he will be long gone from here anyway. Players who strike out as much as he does with the amount of holes he has in his swing are really hard to make into productive major leaguers... go ask how Nigel Wilson, Jr Felix, and Darrell Whitmore how they did in the majors for examples...

May 16, 200917 yr Its amazing how Bonifacio gets a hit or two and people act like the last 20+ games never happened, a figment of our imagination if you will. A "Haha, Bonifacio got a hit! Makes that 20 game stretch of over 120 ABs where he was completely worthless irrelevant" mentality. The dude was projected by everyone to be a utility man at best for a reason\. He has about as low a ceiling as a hitter can possibly have with his comedic lack of plate discipline and horrendous pitch selection.
May 16, 200917 yr And Yet people are "fence sitters" on Hermida. One of 3 players we have that are actually batting good.
