May 23, 200915 yr For all the complaining about Fredi it's for the most part players in Mark Wiley's charge that have failed this team.
May 23, 200915 yr For all the complaining about Fredi it's for the most part players in Mark Wiley's charge that have failed this team. Who has failed besides Nolasco that wasn't bad to begin with (i.e. Pinto, you can't change all the players all the time)? JJ, Kiko, Meyer, Leo, and Volstad are all pitching the best they have. Meyer is the most note worthy since he was junk before coming here and almost every single other team passed up on him. Lindstrom has had one bad outing that completely blows up his line. You can't "take away" what a guy has done, his season line to this point is what he has done to this point, but outside of that one game he has a 1.10 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, showing that he's not somebody to worry about Andrew was battling an oblique injury in all starts but one, and in that one he lit it up. Yeah, the injury is because of the mechanics change, but it's about the greater good. Penn has either shown brilliance or incompetence, but again, he was junk before coming here. And all the other guys are just AAAA or whatever you want to label them, Koronka, Kensing, Taylor, ect. You can't turn every guy into gold. So I mean, the one guy who's failing under him that shouldn't be is also the guy who had the breakout year last year in part thanks to him.

He was coming off an injury and had no business in the closing role until he was 100%. It cost us a couple games and also gave him his "inflated" era. That is on Fredi.

I'm sure that's on Beinfest's head.
May 23, 200915 yr Who would take his place? Jeff Conine. That's right, I said it. I was thinking of him too.I don't think its gonna happen anytime soon if ever because if Conine had any coaching aspirations he'd doing it somewhere right now. He could be taking a break right now and get back into it later though.

I'm sure that's on Beinfest's head. Some of it, sure. But I doubt if Fredi went to Beinfest and said "Hey, this guy's not working out here" that he'd still be playing there.

Fredi is a company man, that's why he's here. He just does what the FO says.

May 23, 200915 yr Can we have Girardi back plz? If only it was a week ago, tons of Yankee fans would have said yes.
May 23, 200915 yr Can we have Girardi back plz? If only it was a week ago, tons of Yankee fans would have said yes. Yep. And if people were calling for Fredi's head when we were 11-1, they would have gotten blank stares. The whole "what have you done for me lately" factor when it comes to managers is a bit ridiculous if you ask me, and I'm sure you'll agree. Fredi's bullpen management is pretty bad though :confused
May 23, 200915 yr somewhere an old man in north carolina is smoking a cigar waiting by the phone Not that I necessarily agree, but this was AWESOME!

May 23, 200915 yr Fredi watch or suicide watch cos that must be how he's feeling after our 8-23 streak
May 23, 200915 yr sooner or later something has to give and it is usually the manager getting the boot............
May 23, 200915 yr For all the complaining about Fredi it's for the most part players in Mark Wiley's charge that have failed this team. Who has failed besides Nolasco that wasn't bad to begin with... Nny, the thrust of your post appears to be that the pitchers who are doing well are examples of Wiley's successes but the pitchers who aren't or haven't have only themselves to blame for their performances because they were "bad" in the first place. Let me stop here for a second and say we are where we are today and no amount of looking back and playing woulda...coulda...shoulda is going to change that. And the problem today is the Marlins, both the team and the organization, have run out of players, making these moves we're seeing necessary. Fredi has no choice, and the FO has no choice regarding doing what they're doing. Just for the record I didn't say "fire Wiley" etc., but he is responsible for half the players on this team at any given time and as such, if people are going to look at Fredi and heap blame there, he shouldn't be alone when it comes to criticism. Criticism doesn't mean hurling epithets and wanting the guy burned at the stake, but I do question how prepared his guys are many times and what kind of technical help they receive on a regular basis.

I echo 2003, Wiley has to be seriously worried about his future in The Marlins organization and rightfullyso, I really don't care much for Fredi but who could give a crap anyway, however I am a point to seriously question Wiley's program as a pitching coach. Now who could replace Wiley?
