Kiko Calero to the DL

Featured Replies

This comes as absolutely zero surprise to me. I've said this 1 million times, Fredi has used certain bullpen arms to their maximum, and most of them have ended up on the DL. I called this happening 2 months ahead of time.

That's an odd time for an injury, considering he's currently been pitching less frequently then he was all season.

Maybe that's why he's been pitching less.

If he was injured, he shouldn't have been pitching at all.

Well, it's shoulder inflammation. Might have just felt a little discomfort, hoped it was just something bothering a little and pitched him less.

Soon as I saw this thread, I thought about Calero coming in with a big lead the other day when he didnt have to... get better Kiko...

I said this too! where do we go to get our cookies?

Pinto did pretty good tonight. Hopefully he can fill in nicely for Kiko in the coming weeks.

Calero (shoulder) tossed a bullpen session on Monday, the Marlins' official site reports.

"I feel good," Calero said. "I think I'm going to throw another bullpen on Wednesday using breaking balls. I'm pretty close. I'd like to throw my bullpen with everything -- changeup, breaking ball." He could be ready to go on a rehab assignment by this weeknd, and Calero is shooting to be activated by July 9 against the Diamondbacks.

Sorry for the massive bump but it looks like he'll be back before the break. Not sure how I feel about that. Despite our struggles and thinness in the pen, wouldn't it be smarter to give him the extra time off to ensure he's back at 100%?

Well, as long as he's feeling better.
