Good try by the Fish... so damn close.

3 hits by Boni.... none by "Potential".

And yesterday, when Hermida went 2-4 with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI, did you say "2 hits by "Porential".... none by Boni"? No, of course not. 1) because you might know that a 1 game sample size is dipshit and 2) because you're an ass.

Rabbethan, if you look at my posting history you will see that unlike some of you who spend every waking moment here... I don't.

"Potential" had a good game two nights ago, very good. It still doesn't change the fact that his batting average is now lower than the most-hated Marlin, Bonifacio.

I know you stat nerds have 72 other lines showing why Boni should be castrated but for normal people who don't spend hours looking through numbers, batting average still counts for something.

Let's just face it.... Hermida is an under achieving, mediocre player who will never live up to his hype in Florida. And to think all you Hermida lovers were posting about how he finally "turned it around" a couple of months ago after just a couple of good weeks. Keep dreaming. He will forever be a 15 HR, .255 hitter who can't field for sh*t. Good thing we drafted him #1.

I have to back up JRD here - he simply said that Hermida now has a lower BA than Bonifacio, which is a fact, and he is met by responses of "You stupid very" and "No. He's extremely stupid".

I don't get that?

Like it or not, Bonifacio has been better than Hermida in the past fortnight. I have said many times I would rather have Coghlan or Gaby play 3B than Bonifacio, but he is due some credit for hitting at a decent clip recently.

...and when Boni (now 26 for 84 (0.309) since June 6) went 4-4 in the Saturday game, he said nothing either.

Hermida is now so bad his avg is LOWER than the "awful" Boni's.

and emilio bonifacio is so bad, his ops is 135 points lower than hermida's.

It's amazing how one guy had been clearly far superior this season, and yet he's getting crap now. Expectations shouldn't change the way you judge outcomes. I expected much more than this from hermida and about this from bonifacio, but that doesn't mean I'm going to judge them by different standards. By any measure, Emilio bonifacio has been a far worse player than hermida.

I don't either; and I don't like it. It is not what this site used to be about.

No more personal attacks from this point forward.

Ah, damn it. I'd rather us lose by 10 runs than by only that one run. What a tease.

Sean West needs to understand that nothing good comes from walks.

That one walk to the pitcher killed him. That inning looked like he was trying to over pitch. And that's really what he needs to learn. Other than that he pitched a very nice game. This was a game I really didn't expect to win. Let's hope Sean learns from it and moves on.

3 walks , another run, grand slam, 5 earned in 6 inns is not a very nice game. These young pitchers will learn

Fredi should have argued the Cody double call and it should have gotten reviewed.

Argue for what exactly? It was not going to be a HR cos the fan reached down to grab it.

The guy reached down but I would like to see a frame by frame of the play. I think he may have reached down below the fence after he caught it. From the replay (no frame by frame) it looked to me like the ball could be in a trajectory to hit the top of the fence. It was certainly close enough for a review but for whatever reason Fredi didn't argue.

Someone call the waaaaaaaaaaambulance...

Just because someone's drafted in the first round, doesn't mean they have to be a perennial all-star. And, as Bobbob points out... despite a slightly lower BA... Hermida still has over 100 points in OPS over Bonifacio... and just because you're not willing, for whatever reason, to open your mind to the fact that batting average is a weak indicator of success, doesn't mean you get to ignore the fact that it actually is.

Just so we can get this "Maury" show into commercial break,

has Kiko been activated yet? Yesterday was July 6th.

The Herald said he's likely to be activated prior to the DBacks series.

Utilizing BroncoBob defense will get you nowhere.

Nah. My "defense" would be showing when people make up their own stats and facts to justify their opinions. Just like this. Or simply to show the other side of the coin.

??? On base 3 times, scored twice, and an RBI. But he hit into a very rare DP. Damn him!!! So how did your boy Jeremy do?

That was from you on a day in which Bonifacio nearly grounded into two bases loaded double plays. You used such credible stats like "runs scored" to justify your opinion and then called out Jeremy who had nothing to do with anything. Face it, you have a defensive style. And it's quite popular among Bonifacio defenders.

All this.

Also, yes, I'm on here a ton, especially after the FUBAR sh*t that FIU pulled on me this semester. But I don't see how you not being on here (you're usually on your pretty good baseball card blog, I guess), not doing anything to learn more about the game, is any defense for terrible posts and horrific analysis.

If you did, for some odd odd reason, learn about the game that you basically have a blog about (that's BASEBALL cards), you'd realize how bad your posts actually are. Yes, Hermida has a lower BA than Boni, but he still has a much higher OPS than him. And yes, I know that Hermida hasn't been good, that doesn't mean that you mocking people who actually understand the development cycle of baseball players is anything but obnoxious and stupid.

And you constantly talking about "Hermida-lovers". I honestly have no idea who these people are. This is basically my 3rd season here, and even with the hate that Boni gets, he'd have to get 2 times that to reach the level of hate that Hermida has gotten. But, there are many people who aren't ready to give up on someone with his talent at his age, with absolutely nothing to replace him with. We have no one ready and waiting in the wings. He has still been our 2nd or 3rd best hitter against righties (.277/.379/.410) and we have no one to replace that with if we send him away for something as little as a reliever.

Bottom line is Hermida>Bonifacio. It's not even close.

Yeh probably but over the past 2 weeks or so Bonifacio>Hermida

Yeah, and over the last two weeks Bonifacio and Carroll > Baker, Cantu (who's been a sh*t sandwich since April ended), Coghlan, Hermida, and Uggla. They've been hotter than everyone but Cody and Hanley.

Bottom line is Hermida>Bonifacio. It's not even close.

That's just sad. If half of those guys have been hitting well, we'd be in first right now.

Cantu (who's been a sh*t sandwich since April ended),

he had a 800 OPS in june

an 800?

Man, was his May that horrific? He's been hitting .260/.295/.359 with a .654 OPS since May 1st.

But yeah, he had a better June than I realized.

I hate that Craig interviews their players after a loss. Bleh.

i know!!! thei heat does the same thing! i hate that wtf do i care wut the other team says!

Occasionally, I do compare when others are bashing a guys game when he had a good game, or a series of good games. As was the case there. Post game thread, people were calling for Boni's head on a platter, and he had a great game. Notice...Post Game Thread. In case you don't understand that, it's a thread where we are supposed to be talking about that game. There are plenty of "I Hate" threads to bash someone in. But bashing him in that type thread under those circumstances isn't the brightest thing to do. In fact, it's rather childish.

But.....The defensive style you talk about is not continually looking at a players faults and ignoring the good points. And then actually pointing them out. I just don't think anyone should be able to close their eyes and say you can't see me just because they want it that way. Happens all the time around here. To the point some make up their own facts to prove their point hoping they won't get called out on them. And it's quite popular with haters of any player, not just Boni.

"Nearly grounded into two bases loaded double plays." Funny stuff. Why not post the numbers of our players that DO hit into DPs. Bases loaded or runners at the corners with less than 2 outs, Boni is one of the guys I don't mind seeing coming to the plate. Very doubtful he is going to hit into a DP, which means Hanley is up next and most likely a runner has crossed the plate. Isn't that how you win games? Getting runners to cross the plate? Ya see, that would be the other side of the coin.

Didn't you just contradict yourself?

You're criticizing people for bashing Bonifacio on a post game thread b/c "post game threads are about the game," yet fact is...Bonifacio didn't have a good game. Hitting into what should've been 2 double plays with the bases loaded isn't a good game.

You either missed the point entirely, or willfully ignored the fact that your "other side of the coin" garbage is built around a flawed argument. The fact that you tried to defend Bonifacio on a day in which he had an awful game with generic stats that don't tell half the story has become a redundant defense. The fact that Hermida or whoever had an 0-fer doesn't change the fact that Bonifacio had a horrible game and that's what you don't seem to get. The lack of logic is astounding.

And why would I list the numbers of players who hit into DP's? What does that have to do with anything? The discussion was about how BONIFACIO had a horrible game and shouldn't be commended for "scoring two runs" when he had two absolutely disgusting at-bats. If that is your definition of a good game, then I can't really help you.
