August 9, 200916 yr Marlins take series from Dodgers, Braves, Phillies. Swept by Nationals. It all makes sense.
August 9, 200916 yr bullpen, heck of a job. Cogs has 7 straight multihit games now, tying a Marlins record.

August 9, 200916 yr Great game. And we already know we aren't going to beat Jamie Moyer, the best we can do is get his pitch count high very early, and hope JJ pitches a gem. Also I didn't know they made rookie cards during the stone age!? Props to the Natinals as well, won their 7th game in a row today.
August 9, 200916 yr Considering the Marlins played like sh*t tonight, and we had our #5 on the mound against their former ace/now very good #2, I feel quite fortunate to get this W. Not sure what happened to Nick Johnson defensively tonight, but he's a lot better than that. The bullpen did a fantastic job, and Cody Ross is becoming quite the underrated one.
August 9, 200916 yr Great game by the pen and Cogs. Nick is a beast at getting on base. Leo scared the heck outta me in the ninth. Also what the heck is up with Hanley being extremely aggressive lately. It doesn't seem to be working.
August 9, 200916 yr nice win today and getting two in row in phy after national series that we want to forget

He was quite off but that one pop up way down the line was tough and so was the short hopper Howard hit to him. But he did mess up a throw to West and that easy pop up.
August 9, 200916 yr Marlins take series from Dodgers, Braves, Phillies. Swept by Nationals. It all makes sense. In our defense, the Nats seem to have made a lot of good trades at the end of the season and are shaping up to be a good team (a tad bit too late this year). They have a bit of a winning streak going right now (what is it, 7 games now?).
August 9, 200916 yr Props to cogs and cody i hope they stay hot. Also to the bullpen staying strong. GO FISH!
August 9, 200916 yr the bullpen was awesome. i understand that ground ball to NJ was difficult to handle but what the hell was up with dropping that popup

That play wasn't easy, but it's a play that should be made, and I'm sure Nick Johnson would agree. I thought it should've been ruled an error, and it forced Leo to get an extra out, tonight, imo. The popper down the line wasn't his ball, so I'm not blaming him for that one. Nor am I blaming him for the throw, as he had to make a diving stop on that play. But, overall, defensively...it wasn't a pretty game for us.
August 9, 200916 yr Marlins take series from Dodgers, Braves, Phillies. Swept by Nationals. It all makes sense. Don't forget we also won the series with the Cubs. Tonight was a very welcome victory, because to be honest, I did not expect it. Although West wasn't great, he managed to keep the game close, but we need more from him next time out. Coghlan continues to impress and the decision to make him our leadoff hitter a few months back instead of Bonifacio has been a great one. Fredi deserves some credit for this. The bullpen was fantastic tonight and so I have voted for them in the FOTG poll.
August 9, 200916 yr Oh, one other thing...can we hit Cody further up in the lineup? Like...4th? against LHP sure he's likely the worst hitter in our RHP line up though.
August 9, 200916 yr We played very crappy yet at the same time came out with the win. I have to feel fortunate every time that happens. To be honest, I had a great feeling when Cody came up against Hamels that something was gonna happen and it looks like that worked.

I could be wrong, but this year, that looks to be our current cleanup hitter (Cantu). I didn't check every player's split #'s, but Cody has out-OPS'd Cantu against RHP, this year.
August 9, 200916 yr Is it me or is Cantu in a slump since that Cubs series? This whole month he hasn't been producing.
August 9, 200916 yr i don't know what is up with cantu especially in the power department but cody and coghlan have been awesome of late. although i held my breath when werth hit that ball to left field but coghlan made a nice catch
August 9, 200916 yr Author NJ is expected to get the day off tomorrow as he is not good against Moyer either. Helms will start.
