December 9, 200915 yr http://blogs.palmbea...-to-the-astros/ Why would any team believe Uggla would be left untendered that is just absurd...That can't be right! We know Loria is cheap but when did they start believing Beinfest to be a fool?
December 9, 200915 yr "Swapping medicals" = pretty much a done deal to me. And according to Ken Rosenthal, that is what is happening now. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/12/astros-close-to-acquiring-matt-lindstrom.html

And according to Ken Rosenthal, that is what is happening now. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/12/astros-close-to-acquiring-matt-lindstrom.html Still no word on player(s) that would be coming back to the Marlins though. BTW, the comments on MLBTRs are unbearable.
December 9, 200915 yr Prospects? I was led to believe that the Marlins would be getting a Mike Lowell caliber player for Lindstrom and he would be completely paid for. Beinfest is getting screwed here big time.
December 9, 200915 yr Bring up Tucker or Sinkbeil to take his spot. Seaton please, I can dream for Lyles though right?

December 9, 200915 yr This probably won't be that good, considering BA has the Astros 30th out of 30 teams in system rankings for 2010. After guys like Castro, Mier, Seaton, and Lyles, you have to go off a cliff to the next tier of talent.
December 9, 200915 yr Lindstrom has been traded. The Hot Stove Show on ESPN2 says that "the Marlins have reached a decision on Matt Lindstrom, and Peter Gammons will be on later, to report it."
December 9, 200915 yr Lindstrom has been traded. The Hot Stove Show on ESPN2 says that "the Marlins have reached a decision on Matt Lindstrom, and Peter Gammons will be on later, to report it." Well, that's one down...Wonder who we got?
December 9, 200915 yr According to Gammons it's two minor league players and a player to be named later. No names yet.
December 9, 200915 yr Author According to Gammons it's two minor league players and a player to be named later. No names yet. We got 3 players for Lindstrom? Wow, guess the Astros system really is that bad.
December 9, 200915 yr Still cant find anything on who we got. I guess Rab will keep us up to date on Lindstrom since hes also a stros fan.

Wow, guess the Astros system really is that bad. Could just be 3 junk players. Hope this doesn't sound snobby, but that was kind of the point when I said "The Astros system really is that bad". So bad that it took three junk players to equal up to one average Lindstrom.
December 9, 200915 yr Could just be 3 junk players. Absolutely. I'm shocked they got more than 1 junk player if this is how it turns out.

December 9, 200915 yr Waste of a trade. Not that Lindstrom is any good... but why trade him for what we believe is dead end players? Salary?
December 9, 200915 yr Waste of a trade. Not that Lindstrom is any good... but why trade him for what we believe is dead end players? Salary? 100% salary. He's going to make $1.5 million, give or take $150,000, and he's probably not $1 million plus dollars better than replacing him with Wood/Leroux/Tucker/etc.

December 9, 200915 yr Waste of a trade. Not that Lindstrom is any good... but why trade him for what we believe is dead end players? Salary? He's not worth $1.4 million and isn't a good player. He's a few bad innings away from pitching in the California Penal League.
December 9, 200915 yr The Astros have reached a deal to acquire Matt Lindstrom from the Marlins. He is flying to Houston for a physical, sources told ESPN's Peter Gammons. The deal, pending physicals, will send Lindstrom to the Houston in exchange for two minor leaguers and the Astros' first pick in Thursday's Rule 5 draft, sources told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark. The right-handed reliever, who is eligible for arbitration, went 2-1 with a 5.89 ERA this past season out of the Marlins' bullpen with 39 strikeouts in 47 1/3 innings and saved 15 games. In his two previous seasons, the hard-throwing Lindstrom posted 3.14 and .309 ERAs with 33 holds. The Astros lost free-agent reliever LaTroy Hawkins to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. Hawkins agreed to a two-year, $7.5 million deal with Houston's NL Central rivals. In addition, Astros closer Jose Valverde is a free agent.

Safe to say I'm not worried about an average 1 inning reliever.
December 9, 200915 yr I call it a break even just because they are getting rid of salary that wasn't meeting its par value. If anything happens with the 3 players it's a win.
