July 3, 201016 yr According to Joe Frisaro, teammates were wishing Brian Barden good luck after the game. Seems he would be on the way down to AAA.
July 3, 201016 yr I'm glad they're wishing him well, but it seems like a weird thing "good luck in obscurity".
July 3, 201016 yr Some are probably wondering if they are next. Or at least they should be worrying about it.
July 3, 201016 yr According to Joe Frisaro, teammates were wishing Brian Barden good luck after the game. Seems he would be on the way down to AAA. I will say this right here..I will only watch tomorrow's game because it may be last time I see a game on tv here in East NC where Uggla, Cantu, and Ross are on the Marlins. I do hope Marlins can keep Uggla somehow for a bit longer...doubtful though, right?
July 3, 201016 yr The funny thing is he probably can't crack the starting lineup at NOLA right now unless one of the infielders gets a call up.
July 3, 201016 yr There was the thought that Tosca was the one keeping him here so it's not that surprising.
July 3, 201016 yr There was the thought that Tosca was the one keeping him here so it's not that surprising. That's what I was told during spring training. Their (BB) relationship goes back to when they were both in the D'Backs organization.
July 3, 201016 yr I'm praying that Morrison is on the way up, but I know that's most likely not going to happen.
July 3, 201016 yr I'm praying that Morrison is on the way up, but I know that's most likely not going to happen. I see Logan ain't a power guy in your sig. Am I right? Would he hit off the bench to try and jumpstart that part of the team, while teams keeps Uggla to try and save season....or go with popular opinion and ship Uggla, Cogs to 2nd, Logan to LF?

Logan is not gonna be called up to be a pinchitter. He is not a slap hitter if that is what you are thinking. That is John Raynor if you want someone like that. Logan is actually the purest hitter in the Marlins organization. When he gets his callup believe me he will be in the lineup everyday

Young. Does he have the potential to hit at least 20 homers a season in the big leagues? Most of his minor league home runs were in A ball I see...but his batting avg and walk/k ratio is nice though.
July 3, 201016 yr I'm praying that Morrison is on the way up, but I know that's most likely not going to happen. A move that would make little sense. Logan is the 1B of the future, a position that isn't open right now because of Gaby's bat. And rightfully so. Logan is learning LF right now. You don't send down an IFer for an "OFer" that needs the every day ABs. My guess is that if Barden being sent down is true, then Luna gets the call. Also opens a starting position at AAA for Barden to get his work in. From what I remember of Luna in ST, his defense wasn't all that bad at a few IF positions, but his bat was lacking. Seems to have improved that.

In any case, it's good to know if Gaby gets injured or traded years from now, you can plug in Logan. Hey, would Marlins call up Logan in September? If he ain't called up by then.
July 3, 201016 yr I can remember we begging for another young player to be call up before his time, how is that working out, we are moving the same players up and down and nothing is happening, why not go in another direction, make some trade, remember to get good players, you have to give up good, no other team is going to give us good players and take junk from us.
July 3, 201016 yr I really can't blame Barden for the missed squeeze, but I think a bunt would have been the only way he could have gotten the runner home, because he sure can't hit. I do blame him for being a waste of a roster space for 3 months. Please go and take the rest of the Marlins anemic bench with you
July 3, 201016 yr Not a big loss at all. I think the missed squeeze was one of those "last straw" deals. Hoping that either B.C. or Hector Luna get the call up.
July 3, 201016 yr I have to wonder at 11am Saturday morning and no confirmation of a move whether in fact Barden has been released/DFA'd/whatever and Donnie Murphy (or anyone else for that matter) recalled. Nothing at PBP, nothing on Twitter in 9+ hours since the original rumor, nothing on Google News, nothing on Sun-Sentinel or the Miami Herald. At this point we'll have to assume until there is some confirmation, Gallo will be trotting him out there again tonight in the hopes I suppose that even a blind squirrel finds a chestnut every once in a while. (also no transactions listed at MLB or MiLB)
July 3, 201016 yr Just watching Barden in spring training with playing time, I saw good at bats. Sure, doesnt always translate to the regular season, but I would have loved for him to get some more playing time. He is just not, as most batters, a good hitter off the bench getting one at bat every 10 days. But, I loved his glove. Watching him field and throw reminds me how a real good smooth inflielder looks-like the ones other teams have. I watch other teams turn double plays efficiently and with rythm and then I watch how almost every double play opportunity we have is an adventure. So, I have mixed feelings, I think Barden does need to go down to get PT or he is only a late inning defensive replacement and we do need a bench bat drastically.

When Barden came up (I think with the Cardinals) in 2008 or 2009 I believe he was Rookie of the Month in April of that year and then fell off a cliff and was eventually cut, sent back to minors, so you can understand why the Fish gave him a look. Unfortunately the look turned into an extended stay and would have lasted all season if the FO didn't make the managerial move they did.
