Taking the Series fro, the Division leader is big!

3B: Helms (3) Davis (1)

Helms gave us a spark we needed!

Even though Volstad struggled a bit he showed great composure to comeback and give the team a solid 6 Innings with only 3 ER.

Hensley came up huge with that DP with the basesloaded but got unlucky with the back to back doubles from Melky and Chipper.

Leo did a great job and it looks like Hanley is getting back into a groove which is something we need.

Lets Just keep winning and take 3 of 4 from a hot Giants team and gain more ground in the Wildcard race.

DON'T STOP BELIEVING!

P.S.

I don't know if it was just me but did anyone else want Helms to get out so Murphy could walk it off again?

Either way I just really wanted to take the series.

It obviously was a good game for the Marlins :D A GREAT homestand :notworthy and the possibility that we'll get help from outside the Marlins during this next week just seems that more possible. And that's great because we'll have a better chance of happy fans for the rest of the season More GREAT MARLINS BASEBALL :D

Wes proved why he should be starting more. So this year he isn't a PH, but as a starter he is over 300 and much better defensively than Cantu. :notworthy

Hanley looked better, but we need more from him. We need him to be as he was last year or close to it. Also HanRam looked disappointed at the end when he came in to score and everyone was surrounding Uncle Wes. Hanley needs to learn to share the spotlight, and maybe that is what is happening this year and we'll see an attitude adjustment.

Uggs and Cody! Cody! Cody! appear to be staying beyond the deadline and that makes me happy. As I have read we can't lose Uggla's production, nor his attitude after his ASG snub :notworthy (thanks AS, sorry for Ugs :confused ). And Cody! Cody! Cody! continues to show us web gem catches, throws, and certainly knows how to roam centerfield. And his not bad with the bat in his hand.

Sorry Stanton was taken out for Boni. From a defensive position, I don't understand it because Mike is awfully good. But to move the pitcher down in the line up, I do. Thank goodness it didn't hurt us although Boni had a nice throw to home.

Glad to see E-Rod managing the bullpen. I don't know how much of yesterday's lost can be placed on bullpen management by Hyde. And even if there were some, Hyde has to learn his position also. But it appears E-Rod has a better handle on managing the team then Fredi, and I really don't care why.

Davis handled the pitchers well :shifty and offensively he wasn't bad. I'll take what he has given us for a replacement. Basically he is considered the fourth best, remember, behind Hayes.

I wish Donnie had got in the game, but others in the game thread said, it would have been mathematically impossible for Donnie to have a third walk off winner during the week. But then again, IT'S BASEBALL!!! :baseball Who would of thought we would be celebrating 4 walk off wins during the homestand. And.....and.....and being 7-3 during the last 10 games.

Good luck as we head west because we are going to need it :crossfingers

I suddenly have "I Gotta Believe!" from Parappa the Rappa stuck in my head. We got a little lucky in getting Nate McCrappy up in the top of the 11th with the bases loaded, but I'll take the hell out of it.The homestand's been a good start for some momentum (Saturday excluded) and here's hoping it leads to good results the next four series against some tough teams (Yeah, the Phillies are broken right now, but they can still be dangerous).

True, Erick, but Boni and another high 5'd him and they were on the way to swarm Wes. The rest were swarming Wes.

Unfortunately, the blown game Saturday was huge. I wouldn't count on the Braves folding in September,,,their starting and relief pitching is too good and they excel at timely hitting. To erase 8 games is just too unrealistic

This Giant series is the series that will tell the tale, for as is usually the case our hopes will rest with the wildcard. It's a tall task, but not an impssible one, to take 3 of 4. Then it gets interesting. I also think that if we don't take 3 of 4, it then becomes realistic for us to become sellers since the issue will be framed as have the Marlins made up some meaningful ground divisionally or in the wild card to justify staying the course and I think the answer will be a resounding NO.

It appeared to me he lost his smile, slowed down and then started moving toward the group. I took it to mean he anticipated everyone to swarm him and congratulate the run. But the group went and congratulated Wes Helms. That was my take on it.

I got the feeling he was a bit disappointed too. He was grinning a mile wide and holding his hand up high when he came in, but as he saw everyone heading to Helms, he sort of toned down the smile, put his hand down a bit and took a pause to later start jogging to Wes.

I'll vote for Nate McLouth.

In this series:

0-for-9, 0 rbi, 2 crucial GIDP and he has left combined 13 baserunners

What a garbage.

Wow. That is incredible. His career average is .256, how is he down to .169 this year? He has to be hiding an injury.

Also, i wanted to vote for Jorge Sosa for 2 scoreless, extra innings (aided by said Nate McClouth) in relief today. I'll also go to mention Chris Volstad somewhat exceeded my expectations.

I'm really thinking (hoping, you could say) that the recent scuffles of Jose Veras and Clay Hensley are temporary. If Veras relapses and Clay collapses, this season is completely over. I keep saying this, and I'll say it again: It's GREAT to get these close, nail-biting wins when certain hitters/pitchers are underachieving. What it means is that we'll be in a much better position late in the season when (or if) we get on a really hot streak. Just look at the Cleveland Indians, they're completely on fire right now, but what does it matter? They completely tanked the first half of the season.

I didn't notice it but I don't see why he'd be disappointed and I doubt he was.

The team mobs the guy who gets the winning hit on walk-offs and I'm sure Hanley knows that as he does the same when he's in the dugout and someone gets a walk-off hit.

If Hanley wants to be mobbed he needs to be the one getting the winning hits but scoring the run is just as good.

While on the topic, I don't believe that Hanley has a walkoff hit in his career?!?!?!

I know he has a few game winning runs scored and hits on the road but has never walked off at Dolphin/Landshark/Sun Life Stadium.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a walk-off HR, but I thought he had a walk-off hit at some point. Good question.

He has never had a walkoff hit. That said, it's because he never gets the opportunity. Whenever he does, he gets walked.

In the last 3 seasons he's only had 1 opportunity where he didn't get walked, he flew out and it had to be a homer to be a walkoff.

EDIT: Actually, he's had 4 opps in the last 3 seasons where he didn't get walked, he grounded once, flew out once, and struck out twice. He hasn't had the opportunity this season.
