August 2, 201016 yr Its not great for my blood pressure but playing the "good" teams is what we want. And, as some have said, with the little run we've been on, I get the feeling we're due to sweep somebody these days. A few breaks here and there and it can happen, as it almost did in San Diego. Keep pushing and only good things can happen.
August 2, 201016 yr Plus, I always feel like we play down/up to the level of the teams we are facing. I still shudder about that Pirates series last year after we got off to the hot start and we suddenly, frighteningly, cooled against them.

August 2, 201016 yr Its awesome that we're getting to play the good teams. It does us more good to be able to beat those teams ahead of us and hurt them while helping ourselves than it would to beat crappy teams while they are also beating crappy teams.

I say we got a good chance to win 2 out of 3 here. As always, I'll hope for a sweep but sweeps are hard to accomplish obviously. So let's just get 2/3 and move on! But if we can beat Roy "Mr Perfect" Halladay, then I'd be happy.

August 2, 201016 yr In 1997 I felt like the Giants were going to be the hardest part of the playoffs. They always killed the Marlins, but I had a feeling if we got past them we'd be facing the Braves, and the Marlins owned the Braves. For some reason, I don't remember much about those playoffs besides that, Livan Hernandez, and Alex Fernandez tearing his rotator cuff. I think its amnesia, induced by the trauma of seeing that championship team dismantled practically as they hoisted the trophy.

Generally, if you follow a team, you take interest in it's history. Like you said, it's like what, 10 games? At the VERY least, know about '03, that's still in the 2000's.
August 2, 201016 yr Whether or not beating a team in the regular season leads to beating them in the playoffs doesn't really matter right now. We have to make the playoffs before we can worry about such things and we haven't done that since 2003.

What 10 games are you referring to? Post season games? In which case, it's been more than 10 games that the Marlins have played in the post season. Because that's absurd and no one ever suggested you memorizing the Box Score of every game. If you want to, you're certainly entitled. Floridafly presented counter-evidence to your definite post of "can't beat them in the regular season, won't beat them in the post season". Clearly that's not the case as both Marlins championship teams failed to win the overall series to the Giants yet both teams defeated the Giants in the postseason. I understand your point but I honestly think you're getting ahead of yourself. The Marlins aren't even at the point that they should be worrying about not being able to beat the Phillies (or any NL East foe, for that matter) in the playoffs. They should simply concern themselves with winning in general and not about the prospect of facing a team in the playoffs.
