Ted Simmons, Padres bench coach and one of the favorites to get the job if a new one is hired at the end of the year.

Edwin has grown on me as well. I think he's got a great chance to manage the team next season.

Lets all hope the Sox implode the rest of the way. With Manny there, they're already a step forward in doing that.

Um, I am on the wagon. But only a 1 year contract. Get team in playoff in 2011 or just go.

The Marlins shouldn't keep Edwin unless they want to go 81-81 again, but I wouldn't be upset if they kept him.

Ozzie still has 1 year left on his contract but i think the sox will give him permission to interview for the marlins job.

 

there has been a rift forming between williams and ozzie so he may choose to take the option of taking the interview... also, if williams is fired, its likely the new GM will want his own guy.

 

 

Either way, i think there is a strong possibility he is the marlins manager next year... it would definitely help those odds if the sox didn't make the playoffs thats for sure

Yeah, if they give the job to someone else, they should keep Edwin up in the bigs somewhere IMO.

I like Edwin.. he is a genuinely nice man and I respect him a lot... I am just a huge fan of Ozzie.

 

1. Won a WS with us in '03

2. Won a WS with the Sox in '05

3. Played for 15 years in the majors

4. Not afraid to call out players publicly

5. Despite this, players still LOVE playing for him.

6. He's hilarious

7. Will bring more attention to the team... a big positive heading in to the new stadium

honest;y i'm not excited about next year. i think no matter who the manager will be we won't be much better then .500, but on that note i believe if somehow we get a playoff level bullpen in the offseason Edwin would be able to take us to the playoffs.
