Posted October 5, 201014 yr Ted Simmons: The Padres’ bench coach is on the Marlins’ short list. He also is a likely candidate for the Mariners and a possible fit for the Brewers, one of his former clubs. Tim Wallach: Bypassed by the Dodgers for Don Mattingly, he is viewed by some as a leading candidate for the Blue Jays. Also on the Marlins’ short list. Bobby Valentine: Still prominent as a candidate for the Marlins and also for the Mets. Jim Fregosi: Candidate for Marlins. Bo Porter, Diamondbacks: On the Marlins’ short list. :barf I'm bad.......I thought Beinfest's comment was a smoke screen meaning Edwin would be the next manager. Or maybe the above is a smoke screen  http://msn.foxsports...00410?GT1=39002
October 5, 201014 yr Bo Porter couldn't even manage 3rd base, I can't imagine he would do well managing the entire field.
October 5, 201014 yr Do we really need a manager who will be hitting on women in the Batter's Box seats when the game's going on?

October 5, 201014 yr That short list makes me want to punch babies. Bobby V won't be our manager, we totally mishandled that situation. Bobby V was either going to be hired immediately after Fredi was fired or not be hired at all, we made our choice (and burned a bridge along the way). Just bring back Edwin. He did a better job than Fredi imo, and would help us more than any of those other "outside" choices. If Bo Porter becomes manager, I don't know what I will do. EDIT: Rab is right. I actually remember Rab mentioning it when it happened.
October 5, 201014 yr I almost wish I hadn't said that, this is a public forum and I don't want to out anyone for hitting on women in the front row on his way towards the third base coaching box and sometimes giving women a baseball with his number on it.
October 5, 201014 yr Jim Fregosi interests me. I prefer these throwback 90s guys rather than the Edwin/Fredi types with no experience.
October 5, 201014 yr Bo Porter... Hell no. Please. I need to find religion and do some serious praying.

October 6, 201014 yr Bo Porter... Hell no. Please. I need to find religion and do some serious praying. If he becomes the manager its a fact that Loria has gone stark raving mad.
October 6, 201014 yr Yeah, I don't believe for a second that Valentine is still in the running. I expect that whoever the final candidate is, it will be a manager who doesn't have a very big ego, and who will basically do what ownership wants. For awhile that was Fredi, but then I guess he did something they didn't like and that was the end of that. I mean Girardi was fired for arguing with Loria during a game, and never seemed like the kind of manager Loria would keep around for very long. I don't think Edwin comes back, just based on the very lukewarm comments coming from the FO about him. If they were going to bring him back it would have already been hinted at or announced, but Beinfest's comments that "he will be evaluated after the season" and nothing beyond that, seem like pretty bad news for him.
October 6, 201014 yr i think Edwin be our manger in 2011 he know alot player that he coach in aaa team plus he good with young player and one been here few years maybe we see new manger 2012 if was going let go think it was going happen on monday he still here
October 6, 201014 yr If Bo Porter becomes manager The odds against him have to be at least 100,000 to one. If he hits the jackpot, he probably wouldn't last 2 months because it's really, really hard to manage when you're an idiot.
October 6, 201014 yr That short list makes me want to punch babies. IIRC, other past quotes suggest that doesn't take much :whistle Shouldn't Bonifacio be mentioned? I mean, he is only 5"11 *rimshot* :lol

October 6, 201014 yr Dusty Baker? :lol Good point. There are exceptions to every rule. However, I think you need 2 active synapses to qualify, so that leaves Porter out.
