Offseason moves

Featured Replies

i been looking at post here not posting much doing offseason unless we have major news with team right now i see this team been same as last year without dan uggla i think hurt us getting run in scoring i see upgrade in bullpen but see other area we maybe little better or same or wrost last season alot people like now we keep up with brave and phy i dont see us in long season keep up with better phy team and brave so i not sure what office marlins doing but we not better as last season it joke if their talk about us making playoff run what your thinking how offseason going???

I think we can keep up, so long as Coghlan bounces back, Infante hovers around .290-.300, Hanley bounces back, Gaby can adjust if pitchers adjust to him, Javy Vazquez and Volstad are solid and the bullpen is as advertised. It's a lot, but I'm hopeful.

Like others have said, I think the expectation on Offense is that we should be at least as good as last year (which is not bad). The biggest improvement should come from the bullpen, and some improvement in the starting rotation. We will definitely contend barring catastrophic injuries in the starting rotation and bullpen.

Offensively the front office seems to be counting on the fact that most of our young players will be one year older, one year wiser: Gaby, Stanton, LoMo, Cogs should all improve, which bodes very well for the offense.

It's not only that we're hoping they improve, but Gaby is the only player on that list who was around all year. We didn't have Stanton for the first 58 games, LoMo for the 99 games, or CC for the last 63 games. We now have them for the ~45% of the season they missed for one reason or another.

They just need to play the way they are supposed to. I am not talking about carrer years, just meet their projections and we will be in the hunt come late September. Comparing with the 2010 Marlins, this version has got better defense, better starters and deeper bullpen. To replace offensive production lost with the Uggla departure, Stanton will play a full season, so will LoMo and Chris Coghlan. Plus, the Buck addition. If Gaby can duplicate his numbers and we stay healthy, we are going to be very good. No question about it

i can't wait til the season starts. with health and consistency we should be able to contend.

I'm on the same boat. Thankfully MLB 11: The Show comes out at the beginning of March, so that should be enough to get me through to opening day (that and Spring Training, ofcourse). :D

Should be an interesting ST. Roger Dean's "Fun Fest" is in just a couple weeks. That's always a fun way to start the new year off with.

I am still gonna wait for thae post-spring training move for a LHP and /or LH hitter off the bench

Post ST? Who says off season moves are done?

But right now that lefty off the bench is Baker. I'm hoping either Hayes or Davis step it up offensively and keep it that way.

Hanley needs to play better this year. I think Gaby and Stanton will as good if not a little better this year. Cogs and dominguez are huge wild cards. That along with the starting pitching holding up without losing more than one SP we should be right in it. The bullpen will not be the problem this season.

May I ask why you responded that way?

Today's youth enjoys such things. Not everyone in the world is a senior citizen.

Let me guess...your response will be "LOL how funny, you people would rather see our ballpark in a video game than actually go see it live. I am a season ticket holder; the best Marlins fan of all time!"

Well, we all know Schnellders should stop being a fairweather fan who only cares about video game baseball.

Schnellders! I don't care that you live in Scotland, figure out a way to go to the games!

If Bob lived in Scotland, he'd spend the day traveling from Scotland to Sun Life Stadium. As a matter of fact, Bob is so cool that he might be able to do that twice in one day.

We should all be fans like him, and have more inside information. Did you know that Gaby Sanchez is a communist, btw? The front office clearly told Bob that Logan Morrison was the 1B of the future because Gaby has no business playing 1B. The truth is they considered a swap to move Gaby to LF as Bob proposed on these very boards (lucky us to get this inside info). However, at the end of the day, they couldn't make the move because the organization is actually owned by Gaby, and it's clearly a dictatorship.

That's actually the reason why Gaby is still playing 1B. It's also the reason why John Baker is still on the team, instead of Ronnie Paulino. Paulino is better defensively, but Gaby likes the way Baker plays a whole lot more. Baker's basically his Raul Castro, and they're running a dictatorship to make sure we stay horrible, defensively.

I'm not 100% sure on this yet, but I'm guessing it's also the reason why Coghlan's going to play CF this year...

Don't you worry Rab, someday I will finally attend a Marlins game. And when I do, I will change baseball forever. Bringing soccer style chants to the stadium!

Nooooooooooooooooooooo! I hate them also. Thankfully not heard any since the summer at the World Cup.

What a surprise you take yet another opportunity to bash me. Only in your little, biased mind am I ever saying or thinking anything like that. But you and your little buddies just go right on ahead. So to answer your first question, asl away. But responses won't be forthcoming. IMO, you aren't worth the time.

Quite the imagination. Too bad you can't, or refuse to, put it to good use.

Well, at least be fair. Only some of that post was me using my imagination. Moving Gaby to LF and keeping Paulino over Baker actually came from your brilliant ideas.
