Vazquez has to go now

Featured Replies

vazquez is holding this team back. we can't keep throwing games away every five days. take him out of the rotation, stash him at the end of the bullpen. we got a couple starters in the minors, buente and koehler, who are pitching well. give one of em a chance, see what they can do. they're not going to be worse than vazquez.

What a waste of a game. This team fights every day and this clown comes out and throws batting practice to a team like the Nationals that barely have a professional line up right now.

I wish Sanabia was healthy. It would make the decision of who to put in Vazquez's rotation spot a lot easier.

Someone is going to blame this on Javy

(BTW, this is just me kidding. He said this after the LoMo double-error.)

It shouldn't be that hard of a decision. You can't be worse than being the worst.

We should have a 'like' button.

Well that $7 million number is still written all over Vazquez's forehead. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see the Marlins try and tough it out with him.

Sanabia is the only guy in our minor league system right now who has some history of major league success. Guys like Koehler, Vilanueva, etc... are just going to be like putting in Graham Taylor (btw, we also still have Graham Taylor).

Our options are pretty limited. One thing we could easily do is call up Ceda and move Hensley into the starting rotation, although I don't know if that is the best thing to do.

I disagree a bit. Koehler (and even Jay Buente) are having success in AAA that Taylor didn't (mainly because Taylor still hasn't seen AAA. I know AAA is kinda a wasteland, and I don't especially expect them to do any good, but it's worth a shot versus giving up a game a day and killing the pen.

This definitely won't be his last start.

After all the crap the front office has had to endure with him, they're not gonna cut him after what was, arguably, his best start of the year.

As someone already said, the Marlins invested millions of dollars into this guy. Unfortunately as long as we're still on the Phil's heels he's probably going to keep starting.

I don't think he'll last more than 4 starts. They gave Al Leiter until July, but it's pretty clear that Vazquez just has a dead arm. He can't get his pitches past guys anymore and he's probably overthrowing which has led to the loss in control.
