And they didnt even answer my email.

and the season continues.

Sooooooooo......... Will be even be good next year?

.....if Rays and Pirates can have quick turn a rounds, yes.

Fourteen runs allowed. How nice.

Thank god Mike Cameron is on the way.

/sarcasm

Yay! Cheer for Victory! (For the other team!)

... NO PARTY POOPERS WELCOME!

oh and brian sanches has given up 12 runs in 7.1 innings.

Back-to-back nail biters

Can we just play another NL East team 38 times and not play the Phils at all?

.....if Rays and Pirates can have quick turn a rounds, yes.

Uh well kinda, except the fact that their farm systems own our farm system.

The Pirates have developed so many names the last 5 years, although with the payroll they have they let most of those players go.

We literally have no one (in essence) in the minors that will be coming up and the pitching or at least known pitchers, beyond Sanabia there is no one. The pitcher thing could be a problem for years to come if we don't start acquiring good young talent.

Unfortunately I also see us being one of those teams thats a bottom dweller for a few years, of course this is all just hypothetical.

Volstad and Vazquez have done a little better as of late but I really hope both are gone next year.

Volstad reminds me of Scott Olsen A good year, a few good starts but not worth keeping.

JJ's lingering issues is just another concern as well, this team can't win without pitching, we barely have an offense.

Charlie Sheen: are the marlins #winning? *looks at standings* guess they are like CBS.

I'm sorry...but I'm sending that 2 lomo....

Who are all these "so many names" that the Pirates have developed from within their system? Andrew McCutchen and Neil Walker?

The fact that the Pirates are playing so much better than the Marlins this year shows how much the Marlins have underachieved. Compare both rosters, and you can't really say "omgz the Pirates are so much more talented now!"

As for next year, it'd be nice to get that guy Josh Johnson back. Maybe he can last a full year, for a change; that would be sweet.

So f***ing tired of losing to the Phillies...

Jose Bautista, Nyjer Morgan, Chris Young, Snell, Duke, Maholm, Gorzelanny, Alvarez just to name a few and look at their starting rotation

Corria 11-6 - 3.74

Maholm 5-9 - 3.08

Morton 7-4 - 3.63

McDonald 5-4 - 4.44

Karstens 7-4 - 2.55

Are you serious? That is a pretty fantastic young staff they have right there, and it's way better than what we have going out for us right now.

Compare that to what the Marlins have right now and eh... do we really have some pitcher that can come in and put up decent numbers like that besides Sanabia?

I count 4 on the Pirates with just those in the majors.

I'm nervous about JJ if he gets healthy again and pitches great well then fantastic, but when is he going to break down again he has shown no signs of being able to stay healthy, which could really put us in the crapper if he doesn't pan out.

Pitching wins games and we don't have a lot of it. :(

At this point: f*** it....

- Just lose every game and get the overall draft pick next year

- Hope players like Volstad and Helms continue to just play like sh*t so the FO gets rid of them after the season without hesitation

- Hope Loria opens his wallet

- Hope there are FAs to get on the market next year

- Hoe this team does not look like sh*t in the new ballpark

.....if Rays and Pirates can have quick turn a rounds, yes.

Why did you mention players that aren't even with them anymore? (Ian Snell was so bad he actually retired)

As for the pitching staff, no one even knew who those guys were before the year. Some of them will regress. There's not a pitcher in that staff that you can call an ace. They're gonna have to add to their rotation if they plan on competing.

Seriously, all of those guys were considered middle of the rotation arms at best, and some (like Jeff f***ing Karstens) were scrubs that have come out of nowhere. It's a fluke; Karstens, for example, has a FIP of 4.7. I honestly don't even know how they're doing it, but I'd bet it doesn't last the whole year.

Ricky Nolasco is an ace on that staff.

Joel Hanrahan, however, is a legit closer. They definitely have that going for them.

Bautista was awful on PIT. Nyjer Morgan wasn't great on PIT and they traded him pre-arbitration. Chris Young never threw a pitch for the ML team. Ian Snell is awful - below 4.74 only once, and he's terrible in 2011. Zach Duke is not good (see 5+ ERA 2 straight years). Maholm is fine, a #3/#4 at best. I'm too tired to look up the others ATM.

Players that came up in the Pirates organization, that they got rid of, because they don't keep good players.

Regardless of what you believe, they are performing this year and it's a pretty young staff, I don't care what they were supposed to be they are all doing well RIGHT NOW.

All your doing is speculating.

Lol Ricky Nolasco barely has an ERA under 4. I like Ricky though, I was a believer, many here weren't.

Uh...

Kevin Corriea is a 31 year old who was drafted by the Giants in 2002.

Paul Maholm is 29.

James Mcdonald was acquired in a trade and is 26.

Charlie Morton is 27 and was acquired in a trade.

Jeff Karstens is 29 and was acquired in a trade.

Ricky Nolasco, Josh Johnson, Anibal Sanchez, and Chris Volstad are all younger than all but two of them, and only Nolasco is older than Morton.

That's not a "fantastic young staff," and it's not the product of some insane farm system. They're pitching really well right now, but most of them don't have a track record or skill set that would indicate this is sustainable.

And your list of players "developed' by the Pirates features a lot of guys who were acquired through trade or who are no better than Coghlan, Stanton, Morrison, G. Sanchez, Johnson, Willingham, Hermida, and Volstad, just to name some completely home grown guys who made their debuts in the last 6 years here, not to mention the guys we've acquired through trades.

The Pirates farm system is better than ours right now. They have graduated 3 potential All Stars and a Rookie of the Year in the last 2+ seasons like we have.

it's a pretty young staff

No they're not.

The average age of their starting 5 is 28 exactly. The average age of our starting 5 is 28 exactly.

Just because you've never heard of them doesn't make them young.
