408 for the first one, 468 for the second.

ESPN has it at 408 + 461. Where you get the 468 from?

My mistake, got mixed up.

408 for the first one, 468 for the second.

That can't be true, right?

The first one looked like it went 10+ rows back in the upper deck.

I thought so too, but ESPN has it at 408. It was right down the line though. Barely fair.

Omar gave the FO yet another reason to sign him.

Maybe they can make it contingent on Omar actually learning how to speak some rudimentary English. That would be a nice touch.

But, Omar is a distraction, the only reason to watch the last 8 games is Stanton.

Perhaps betwixt and between the big FA deals they will do this off-season they can slip in the signing of Stanton for 10 or 12 years.

Hitting an upper deck shot (at Sun Life at least) is probably more about trajectory than how hard the ball is hit. And maybe the wind was right last night too.

If that was only 408, then Galaraga's 529 foot shot would've left the stadium if he had hit it down the left field line. What is it like 50 feet between the upper deck facade and the top of the stadium?

Read that.

what is really annoying is the amount of solo home runs that stanton has this year. what is it like 24 or 25 now?

hed be well over 100 rbi with some damn men on base.

also, has anyone noticed how mike has closed his stance a little? his back is more towards the pitcher now. hope that works.

His approach seems a lot different with runners on. A lot more selective it seems.

Infante can't speak English?

Did not know that.

Actually he does. Although pretty broken he gets his point across. I think he does interviews in Spanish so he dosen't look silly, or inadvertently say the wrong thing.

I can buy that the first one was 408 easier than I can buy the second one "only" went 461....I thought for sure based on where it was hit it had to have traveled 480 at least.

for Omar, that's like a 500 footer, though.

That first Stanton one didn't go relatively far because it was hit so high. But it was a monster, make no mistake. The 2nd wasn't hit nearly as high, that's why it carried so well.

That 2nd one was in rare territory. You don't see home runs out there often. Longest home run in Sun Life since Rickie Weeks in May, 2008.

That 2nd HR was the longest one I've seen since Russell Branyan hit one against the Fish a long time ago in Milwaukee. I know it was "only" 461 but you just don't see HRs hit there.

408 for the first one, 468 for the second.

Galaraga's HR went to center field. Didn't it? Why is diagram showing that it went to left field? Didn't it hit a Jackie Robinson commemorative banner that was there at the time?

Are Stanton's HR's on YouTube? I didn't watch the game. I checked to see if they were playing and somehow missed the game on ESPN's scoreboard. :hammer  And it was a Monday so it wasn't usual for them not to be playing so I didn't do any double checking.

Nope, went to left-leftcenter.

Anyone got the distances on Stanton's HRs? Those were both crushed

Yeah - 1st one was moonshot, 2nd was Mars

Yeah he did one earlier this year in English that came across hard to understand, since then I have seen him twice use Joe Espada. Its all good, he is one hell of a good defensive 2nd baseman, and I could care less if it is Swahili he talks, he just plays the game DAMN GOOD !
