2002 WS champ Angels started the season with 6-14 record.

And my farts stink.....so what ? The Angels 2002 team has ZERO relation to the 2012 Marlins.

You can't be serious.

The point is that the sampling size is the same. You can't judge the quality of the team (and where the team will finish after 162 games) based upon a meager 20 game sampling.

Is it possible that this team is actually getting worse?

We are hitting .232 as a team right now ranked 28th and in the bottom 10th of the league, we can at least manage to get our hitting back up to the bottom 3rd of the league in BA.

(2011 - .237 ranked 23rd)

This lineup still hasn't prove why it should be feared.

On another bad note the bullpen is a lot worse to this point than it was last year, disappointing.

It's like June 2011 all over again... :glare

I don't know why everyone is so surprised, as its basically the same cast playing the games. The talent we have is just overrated, plain & simple.

I mean, even if you think Vazquez for Buerhle is a wash, we want from Greg Dobbs et. al to Jose Reyes. He's obviously struggling right now, but that should come out to a ~4-WAR improvement over the course of a year.

This isn't a meager 20 game sampling. The offense was "offensive" during spring training too. Its been this way since they started this year.

if i have to see mike dunn and ryan webb pitch again I'm gonna go crazy. those 2 are simply not good.

mike dunn is a walk waiting to happen and webb just isn't very good.

good thing we gave a fat closer money more than a fat first baseman. this lineup with fielder would be 50X better. we have no consistent rbi producing middle of the order power threat.

Spring training. :lol :lol

Even if those games had meaning, it's worth pointing out that Reyes, Hanley, Infante, Buck, and Kearns all had awesome springs. And Morrison and Stanton didn't play.

So you are basically connecting the current meager sampling size to spring training on account of people like Terry Tiffee and Aaron Rowand sucking. The majority of the current Marlin starters who had spring training ABs hit fairly well.

+1 It's not like this was a top tier team hitting wise last year either, Hanley doesn't seem to be the superstar he once was and this team still makes it near impossible to score runs.

The point is we weren't scoring runs in spring either regardless of what everyone was hitting, besides everyone knows spring numbers rarely show what the player will do during the season. (See Kearns)

That is completely illogical. You can only connect the two based on the actual players. The majority of the starters who played in spring did well.

And if you acknowledge yourself that spring numbers don't predict regular season performance (implying that those games are what they are--exhibition games with little meaning), then why bring up spring training at all?

It does seem that Ramirez is not the player he was 2 to 3 years ago. But don't say that too loudly around here.

He's had major shoulder problems.

People acknowledge his recent struggles, but most of us aren't ignorant enough to want him shipped out of town.

And a week and a half ago, it was "Hanley's back!"

I think the worst part of the Marlins being on a losing streak isn't watching the team drop in the standings, but rather having to read all of this drivel in the post game threads.

Oh well, it's only April.

I'm 0-3 when I go to games, but I always have a good time. I wonder what it's like after a win!

Hanley isn't "back". He's awful. This is coming from one of his biggest fans, but one of his biggest doubters as well. His approach at the plate has been awful since he won the batting title. Him not hitting Hasidic severely hurting this team

What do you mean this lineup hasn't shown it can be feared.?

Reyes has beyond proven he can, Boni has steadily increased but is a question mark still, Hanley has proven and only injuries has slowed that the past few years. Stanton has proven he can hit. 34 home runs last year and has been steady since he was brought up. Morrison has hit with power and for the most part has been reliable since his call up offensively. Gaby has been good his career so far except the last part of 2011 and the meager games this year. Infante has been steady in his career, buck has struggled the majority of his career but has had a good year a few years ago in Toronto.

Do I really need to go on. The reason we give some of you so much hell it's like you guys don't even watch baseball and are only goin off what you see now.

BEST AUTOCORRECT IN MB HISTORY?

I'm sorry I could not join all of you for today's game. I was sideswiped by a drunk driver while I was on a business road trip in the early hours of the morning. I ended up going into a ditch. My car did two flips and was totaled. I fared a lot better with a broken leg, bruises to my shoulder from the seat belt, and a nasty cut on the side of the head when my head smashed into the side window. I did not feel like watching the game when I'm feeling like I was run over by a pack of wild elephants.

I saw a few highlights of the game. Looks like I didn't miss much. Same old Florida Marlins :(

BEST AUTOCORRECT IN MB HISTORY?

As Rafael palmeiro once said, if this is the only way I can get in the HOF, I'll take it

Luckily, I couldn't even stay awake to watch this monstrosity and nodded off around the 6th inning. This could be one of those moments where one would talk about how early it still is in the season, but that's starting to get repetitive. At this point, it's up to the baseball gods to decide whether we pull through, or end up being the biggest embarrassment in baseball. It just sucks because the sh*tty feeling of losing games is amplified by the fact we were so hyped up in the off season.

Here's to staying optimistic!

Whoa, brother, that's crazy and scary as heck; best of luck to you for a quick recovery!

On a partially-serious, partially-lighthearted/hoping-to-lighten-the-mood note: I'd imagine you know some good lawyers to help out!

Also, if you saw today's game you would of wished you have ended up on a ditch somewhere.

Too soon?

Hope you get better bud.
