Wait, i didn't catch this before but weren't you jut saying the other day when you were downplaying Beinfest accomplishments that the 2003 World series team was built by basically by dombrowski? Beifest came in 2002 and basically singlehandly built the 2003 team through trades and FA signing in 2002 and 2003. I'm not trying to be a dick just be fair about it.

This isn't the team I expected before the season started. It's hard to watch. It'll be interesting to see how the FO approaches the deadline/off season.

I'd love to know what Loria is thinking... November 2011 - Major backlash over new unis/logo, March 2012 - Team struggles offensively in spring, April 2012 - Castro-Gate & Team struggling out of gate / Bell terrible, June 2012 - Team goes into the sh*tter after an awesome May, July - Bell back to being sh*t

Maybe he'll sell ?

We can only hope.

His ownership, other than 2003, has been a huge FAIL. Big mouth, big ego, and nothing to show for it but winning a title on a team mostly put together by Dombrowski.

The 2003 team was as much Beinfest's as Dombrowski's.

Conine, Pierre, Encarnacion, Rodriguez, Willis, Pavano, Redman, Fox, Urbina, Spoonybarger, Hollandsworth, Mordechai, Williams

Called up cabs too from AA, that takes balls and wasn't a popular thing to do back then.

I figured Tommy Hutton left partly because he would've blown up on TV. Everyday, he looks more and more like he's losing his patience with the team.

I don't think I've seen this done before now, but I was curious and decided to tally up the WAR values for the Beinfest and Dombrowski players of the 2003 Marlins.

A total of 40 different players saw playing time in 2003; 20 of those were from Dombrowski and the other 20 from Beinfest.

When I added up the Fangraphs WAR (fWAR) for both groups of players, these were the results:

Beinfest: 22.9

Dombrowski: 25.6

So it's pretty close. Those numbers match what my intuition has been telling me--nearly a tie but with a slight edge going to Dombrowski. I think you'd have to expect Dombrowski getting a slight edge for assembling all four infielders with good defense and good bats.

So pretty much it's fair to say both had a heavy hand in creating the winning team and neither myself or Old timer is completely correct.

Not forgetting he got McKeon as well.

So one experience gives him a free pass for failures in almost every draft, trade and FA signing since then ?

You're a cop right ? Say you save someone's life early in your career. Get commendations, key to the city, etc etc.

Then you start making mistakes, like getting your partner shot, not staying on your patrol, crime goes up on your beat. Do you think you'd keep your job ?

Same with Beinfest, why does he continue to get a free pass, year after year. His complete botching of the Cabrera trade & blowing five 1st round picks in 2005 should have cost him his job then and there.

And since Dombrowski left and went to Detroit, he's put together one team that has gone to the World Series. Can Beinfest match that ?

No, OT seems to have some sort of delusional fixation on Bienfest and the FO in general.

Bienfest is evil, 'cause OT says so.

If Ozzie Guillen was not too busy getting drunk after every game (his own admission) he would have the foresight to see that there is only one man on this team who should be closing for us...Steve Cishek. I know Leo Nunez is coming back, but he would be better off in a less stressful role, such as an 8th inning man. I honestly do not see anyone else but Cishek who can step up to the plate

link?

haha that cannot possibly be true. (him admitting it, at least)

Ozzie Guillen admits he get's drunk after every game: http://www.nbcmiami....-146455145.html

Then he needs to go. If he spends his off time drunk, he isn't spending enough time deciding what he and the team can do to change directions.

Heath Bell sucks right now but there comes a point where you have to wonder wtf is Ozzy thinking still throwing him out there. In between Ozzy still having Bell close games and having Hanley in the top third of our line up you have to wonder what goes through this guys head.

I'd take Edwin over him. At least Edwin knew what he was doing half the time.

Everybody has bitched about every manager since Joe G, except maybe McKeon.

I liked Joe G as manager. And no one can replace Trader Jack

That article was on April 6th, for what it's worth.

Seriously, this has to rank up there with Jorge Julio. It's even more frustrating because Bell actually was a good pitcher. With Julio, we kind of expected him to suck.

And Hanley Ramirez is an immature moron. If he's not back by the 13th, what the hell are we going to do in the infield? Start Dobbs every day? Jesus.

Girardi was great but every manager since has been below average.

Old timer- PLEASE tell me where the hell he said Beinfest deserves a pass.

I don't think I missed him saying that.

During an interview with Zaslow last week, I remember hearing Beinfest say in the first round you go for the high ceilings and in the rest you draft the sure things- makes sense.

And you can't call Coghlan a bust- he won ROY, he's a disappointment if anything.

Does Beinfest get enough credit for dumping Lowell's horrible contract and Beckett on BOS and getting H2R and Anibal? Or the fact he got Nolasco for Pierre?

The Cabs trade sucks, but stuff happens. Hindsight is 20/20

Not forgetting he got McKeon as well.

I've got a better idea, though. Let's make Old Timer the Marlins GM. I mean, you know, since he obviously knows more than Beinfest. Mr. Old Timer is going to draft great in the first round, HE'LL HAVE NO BUSTS! His trades will be IMMACULATE, no trading your best player for top-tier prospects that he KNOWS will turn into busts. He won't sign guys like Hanley Ramirez who was an All-Star to a long-term contract because he KNEW, due to his "lazy attitude" and what-not.

Old Timer for GM! f*** Beinfest, Old Timer's where it's at!

Yes and I have lived with a functioning alcoholic. From experience he needs to go. This is not a 9 to 5 job. While in the season it is more of a 24/7 job and he doesn't need to have his brain continually pickled in alcoholic. From experience I know their thinking is clouded at best, doesn't recall things correctly, and actually loses brain cells.
