July 25, 201214 yr Eovaldi is anibal sanchez part 2 without as many strikeouts. NEVER goes deep into games. this was a salary move. and a bad one at that. NEVER! oh you mean in all 10 total starts as a 22 year-old? I mean no he's not a stud or anything but c'mon. and Sanchez is really good so... Eovaldi's last 10 starts in AA before being promoted in terms of innings, only 7 went more than 1 inning for some reason but here it is- 5, 6, 4,5,7,5 last year in 20 starts in the minors only went 103 innings, a little over 5 per start. DOESNT GO DEEP. This is because of his control. He's got good stuff, just bad control. If he can turn those walks into Ks, then we'll have something.

July 25, 201214 yr If "casuals" are going to games for players we have a problem. Casuals will go to games when the team wins. And the team sucked as is. Hanley being a big reason why. Something had to be done. The return isn't great, but if money saved is invested in team then I'm good with it. Basically in two trades got players to replace Anibal, Nolasco who could produce similar numbers for fraction of the cost. (I'm kind of assuming Nolasco is a goner too)

Not only is the leg kick much smaller but he swing is much shorter. Obviously these are only highlights from 09 but he kept his hands inside the ball very well that year. Now the leg kick is really high and the swing is very long. Mattingly was a great hitter so maybe he can fix him.

July 25, 201214 yr This is dumb. One more year would have been better IMO. Looks like the only reason casuals have to go to games is Stanton and maybe JJ if he isn't moved. One more trade even close to this and its fire sale time. f***. i know it sucks to see him go but it hurt even more for me seeing him suck knowing how good he can be. I love watching him when he's on and hope he figures it out in LA.

July 25, 201214 yr I've never disliked Hanley, always have been a fan. And hate that it ends like this. It was so exciting to have a guy that young who was probably a top-5 player in baseball. I think like squall I wish they'd given it a little longer, the slump has really only been about a full season in terms of plate appearances. I realize it's been a combination of things though.

And that they still had a bad night? The problem was that other Los Angeles team, the Dodgers, and their stunning late-night deal for Hanley Ramirez. The A's, as it turns out, were also in heavy on Hanley. And, according to sources, the Marlins offered Oakland a sweet deal within the last few days, one in which the A's would get Ramirez for a couple of minor-league players -- and the Marlins would pay about half the remaining money on Ramirez's contract. The A's held off making the deal, because of concerns about a hand injury that has kept him out of the lineup since Friday. I'm sure he was trying to do something but obviously it wasn't happening. Usually major swing overhauls happen in the off season. I'm with you though I don't see why he couldn't just shorten his leg kick. The swing is a little more difficult to change though.

July 25, 201214 yr At first I was like, "this sucks" but then I actually read up on the deal. The Dodgers are paying ALL of Hanley Ramirez' contract, thats the biggest thing in this deal. We also got a young starting pitcher in Eovaldi and while he hasn't shown greatness he is still a young starter. The Dodgers scored 19 runs for him in 10 starts thats less than two runs a game. The Marlins aren't exactly the kings of scoring runs but it adds an immediate starter to the team. I don't even care about the other guy maybe he becomes a good reliever way down the road. I'm optimistic and glad Hanley is gone.

July 25, 201214 yr LA just took on 40 million for nothing. They are the ONE franchise in all of baseball whose GM has no spending limit. We got lucky. Thank you, LA. We now have funds to buy some bats in the off-season. With any luck, Nolasco is next.
