The Marlins made Uggla a fair offer, he just happened to like the Braves offer more because of the extra year they offered him. Also, .215/.350/.371.

Felix' value FAR outweighs Hanley right now.

July 25, 201214 yr so they're paying none of Hanley's salary?? wow. Not a huge haul but obviously money was the key so the Dodgers are probably one of the few teams able to take on that risk. Did get 2 young starters, Eovaldi is already pitching for the Dodgers so he's ML-ready. McGough is further away, 5th round pick in 2011. Having a nice year in A+ ball. Sickels had him rated as LA's #2 prospect before the season, right behind Zach Lee. Had a really nice AA at 21 years old. 2) Nate Eovaldi, RHP, Grade B, Borderline B+. He made huge progress last year, although his major league K/BB ratio was poor and indicates he still needs some refinement. He would probably better off pitching out of the major league bullpen than going to Albuquerque if he doesn't make the rotation in spring training. Think about it that way. They get an ML-ready starter (the Dodgers 2nd best pitching prospect) and have all of Hanley's money freed up. Eovaldi's probably a back-end of the rotation guy but go out and spend the money on bats. MarlinsLou is probably doing cartwheels.

We got robbed We got rid of Hanley's contract, which allows us to either extend JJ or Giancarlo, or sign a nice FA center fielder this off-season. And/or a third baseman. Can we really say Choate would have gotten them alone? He's a one-two out guy for lefties. He's not a closer. A middle-back end starter, plus a "potential closer" in the future. At least, the scouting report that one guy posted about McGough said "potential closer."
