Loria and the Marlins are such cheap bastards. How dare they open the season with the 7th highest payroll/2nd highest payroll in the National League? f***ing front office never spends.

They should've kept this team. They're so f***ing awesome. 8 games under .500 with the 3rd worst run differential in the National League. They definitely would've turned it around.

f***ing cheap bastards. Should've given Hanley another 15 million next year. What's 15 million? They should be more patient, but they just had to be cheap. Why run out of patience? It's only been over 2 years. He's clearly still a superstar. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Fire sale!

Hope these aren't directed at me. I've never said this was a fire sale. I never called them cheap. Ever. Not once. I know how to manage payroll. I get and agree with certain trades and moves. But there is nothing to be excited about for the next few seasons.

Ok. I guess you were rather silly for being excited about this year then?

The team really hasn't changed that much. We lost a 3B who wasn't producing, a replaceable 2B, our #3, and a lefty specialist.

You're just not excited about prospects because they're prospects and you never know. Which is fine. But seriously, the team hasn't changed that much. And the offseason hasn't even begun yet.

Ill take a texeira type return for him. Olt, Perez, and Buckley or whatever that pitchers name is for JJ and someone else like Carlos lee.

Another 2-3 years of watching young talent not live up to potential.

or 2-3 years of established talent continuing to underperform?Hard to believe that Reyes, Hanley, JJ, bell, and buck will continue to suck for the rest of their careers. Too much success and too sharp of a decline for no reason. But unproven kids not living up to expectations? Much bigger chance of failure IMO. And yes performance/value I get it. But how many failures until philosophy needs to change?

You do realize that those guys are still here, right?

Also, John Buck has only had one productive season in the big leagues so it's very likely that he's just mediocre.

As for Hanley, this isn't his first bad year. I'm not saying this is who he is now, but it's rather delusional to think he's going to be awesome again. I recall you being alright with Uggla leaving. Why not Hanley? At this point in their respective careers, they're both overpaid.

Silly? You weren't excited for his season? Come on.

I love watching prospects develop. I just don't like watching them develop into barely average players or busts. I don't want to watch another two seasons of junk. I hope the moves that are made aren't all maybin and miller type moves.

I'm just saying that the team hasn't changed that much.

As for the prospects, you're already assuming that they're going to be "barely average or busts." Maybe they're not. Not every prospect we've ever received in a deal turned out to be Cameron Maybin/Andrew Miller. I get that this front office could certainly be better, but every time a trade is made, the Miguel Cabrera one comes up. Maybin/Miller becoming busts was kinda bad luck, in a sense. You're not going to find one scout who expected that at the time the trade was made. Sometimes that happens with prospects; sometimes they become very good, instead.

Uggla projected to have a steep decline in production with age. I would be OK with him going if there was a replacement. There isn't one.

Hanley's been on a steep decline for years now.

I think the trade was the best thing for Hanley and us. He was comfortable here and I don't think he was gonna do enough to turn himself around. Not that he was cool with sucking but he knew the owner loved him and he had a ton of slack. Now with a new organization and clean slate plus the wake up call of being traded I think he comes around.

As for Bell hasn't he been declining the past three seasons? Fastball velo down and less k's.

Also I don't think Buck is this bad but not much better. Are you really excited to see him when going to the park?

If the reason for his decline is injuries, those injuries he's already had aren't going to just go away. Has he even been injured this year, aside from when he decided to hit the fan like an idiot?

More than olivo. Baker. Etc.

John Baker had two productive seasons here so I don't know why you'd be more excited to watch John Buck play.

Edit: Come to think of it, as much as I hated Miguel Olivo, he was basically John Buck making less money.

Why did we get rid of baker in the 1st place. I remember he wrote some yahoo articles narrating his comeback and rehab, it seems the marlins paid for his rehab then got rid of him :patriot

He's not as good as he once was. He's not even starting anymore. I don't think that platoon splits up (with Paulino) if Baker doesn't have Tommy John. It was a convenient situation.

+ they probably did it for BroncoBob. He attends all the games so he's a better fan than us. The Marlins had to do something.

Maybe you should wait until after the offseason before you make that judgment?

This offseason could be very important for the fanbase... Do they spend again or get cheap replacements and hope people still buy tickets?

Loria's got it all under control. He knows if he completely blows it up he wont get the 25-30k attendance next yr, he'll get maybe 15k. He'll keep just enough players like Beurle to give the illusion they want to compete. We arent getting any big names in the offseason but they will give the illusion of going after Hamilton. With the new stadium the marlins cant accept to be in "rebuilding" mode because no one will go to the stadium. This "restructuring" is giving up on the playoff hopes in the future and go for meddiocrity. They can make the most money off the stadium this way.

Also it wouldnt surprise me if he told the players to lose and paid them to lose so he can have an excuse for getting rid of players. This guy didnt get rich volunteering at the Salvation Army.

I don't think anybody got rich volunteering at the Salvation Army :$

I thought I was bad at one time, but this board is extremely suicidal over a few baseball moves stick it out and stay loyal to your team. Enough with the "evil plots" of the FO, that man is no longer here so it shouldn't be mentioned.

I'm hoping we get rid of Nolasco, Bell, Buck, and Johnson tbh. They're all overpaid. Just as long as we can get decent prospects for them

I'm sure teams are lining up around the corner if it will only cost a "decent prospect" to get Bell & Buck. Teams love players with negative value.
