pollythewog
Who cares Carlo Amado "Chuck" Hernandez (born November 11, 1960 in Tampa, Florida) is a coach in Major League Baseball. He has served as pitching coach for the California Angels (1993–96), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2004–05), and Detroit Tigers (2006–08). In 2009, he served as the bullpen coach for the Cleveland Indians, but was fired along with Manager Eric Wedge and the rest of the staff at the season's end. Hernandez is currently the pitching coach for the GCL Phillies. Prior to his coaching career, he played in the New York Yankees minor league system from 1979 to 1983. He also played part of the 1983 season in the Chicago White Sox system. A broken arm that year ended his playing career.

fanofthefish
Wow reaching back to the Dombrowski era with the hiring of Leary, he coached for several years in the minors for the Fish before moving on to the Red Sox.
blaze2ki
Hernandez is currently the pitching coach for the GCL Phillies. Wherever this information came from, its a little outdated, the job that he is leaving is the pitching coach for the University of South Florida http://www.gousfbulls.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=36643&SPID=2917&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=7700&ATCLID=205097618&Q_SEASON=2012
Eddie Altamonte
I am ok with Leary but Chuck Hernandez? It has to be the most obscure pitching coach signing ever!

BroncoBob27
Actual Redmond's response in a text....."Super excited to have Rob Leary and Chuck Hernandez on the staff." Boca Man
Thats why they hired Redmond, a mouth piece for the FO.
Entendu
A USF hire. Tino Martinez also has ties to USF, being a volunteer coach and USF's manager's brother-in-law. It seems to me that they're going crazy trying to build ties with Florida in general.
BroncoBob27
Thats why they hired Redmond, a mouth piece for the FO. I wouldn't go so far as to say a mouth piece. Yes man seems alot closer to the truth. Or maybe puppet, as in someone they can control. The only thing lacking is Samson coming out and saying, "I remember the fans saying this is what they wanted." Percieved FO reply....."Good boy, Red. Here's another cookie." are you going to do this now every time Redmond's name is mentioned? It's a stupid boilerplate response to some new hires, what would you like him to say? "Well I'm kinda meh about it but whatevs, my owner won't pay for good talent here." But I will say it every time it is obvious he is being their yes man. Mainly because so many argued with me that he wasn't.
Eddie Altamonte
I guess compared to Guillen everyone else is pretty much a "yes" man
...
Other than Billy Martin, and to some extent Guillan with Chicago, who else in the last 50 years has been other than a FO "yes man" IN PUBLIC when it comes to dealing with his FO? Only an idiot or someone who's a little mentally unbalanced like Martin (and maybe Guillan) would try that. It's a no-win deal. Guillan never went ballistic in public with any disagreement with the FO while he was here. He took his suspension for his Fidel comments silently. Meekly. Apologetically. Very yes-manish. He never objected to anything the FO did, outside of making a few noises about not bringing up another catcher in September. Who cares about that total insignificance? I don't think it's possible to determine when someone is being a subservient FO "yes man" or even if there is such a thing. We have absolutely no idea what battles go on behind the scenes. If we don't know, how can anyone form any conclusion, one way or another? Apparent agreement is the norm and should be. They're all supposed to be on the same page.
