February 11, 201313 yr You cant legitimately believe the Marlins lost money last year. Theres just no way anyone could possibly believe that. When makes more in television contracts and revenue sharing than it spends on payroll before a single ticket or parking space or concession or souvenir is sold...you are not that obtuse are you?
February 11, 201313 yr the good news is that our farm system is fully stocked...we have a lot of depth there..before long.our players get old...you never know when and where our baseballs biggest stars will come out of...

All I can say is that you obviously have no clue how much it costs to run a major league operation. You're not alone.
February 11, 201313 yr i was at winter warm up...indeed it was quiet...but i'm not upset with loria...i would be if he kept last years players who sucked... he outspent every owner last off season...no one represented us in the all star game and ended up in last place....i'm raising a question here.. WHAT WOULD ANY OF YOU GUYS DO???? jeff loria gave as a world championship and he got us our new ballpark....huizenga and henry turned their backs on us....loria was a trooper.. have we forgottten that?? why not gve mike redmond a chance??? Did he really? Because i'm pretty sure most of that team was drafted by the best GM in baseball and not the clowns that are here. I hate it when people credit Loria and company for something they didnt build!! In fact they haven't done shit here other then scamming everyone for a staduim

I hate it when people credit Loria and company for something they didnt build!! In fact they haven't done shit here other then scamming everyone for a staduim Yeah, because that Pudge signing (Loria's idea) had nothing to do with the title. The Conine, and Urbina trades that the front office made in 2003 had nothing to do with the title. The decision to promote Cabrera and Willis had nothing to do with the title. The decision to fire Torborg and hire Jack (Loria's idea) had nothing to do with the title. Did Dombrowski build a lot of that team? Yes. Did he do it all? No. Also, Dombrowski isn't the best GM in baseball. Andrew Friedman is.
February 11, 201313 yr So you mean, Loria's guys worked out at the beginning? I'm just answering his point that the 2003 title had nothing to do with this front office which is clearly wrong.

Good point, I always forget to thank Loria for winning all those games in '03, he had a hell of a slider back then. I love that he got a new stadium after arguing (rightly) for years that they couldn't contend without one. Not so thrilled that he just moved a ton of money and contracts yet didn't put anything of significance back into the team. It's a disgrace.

Not to mention that his "I'm losing money!" schemes were uncovered by several media outlets just a few years ago. You are a ridiculous person.

February 11, 201313 yr Not directed at anyone here in particular, just at the collective opinion of the majority... If you're going to blame Loria and Beinfest for the bad things, you can't give them no credit for the good things. That's all I am saying. They have done some good for this franchise but that's often forgotten.

Not to mention that his "I'm losing money!" schemes were uncovered by several media outlets just a few years ago. You are a ridiculous person. He's talking about just last season. They did lose money. Probably 15-20 mil. It would have been a negligible loss if they had sold the naming rights and additional advertising space inside the park. They didn't need to blow the team up. They needed to execute the parts of their plan that were under their control. They didn't. How do you figure they lost $15-20 million? Or anything, for that matter.
February 11, 201313 yr They've done more bad than good, unfortunately. Maybe they have but if you read some comments here and around the internet in general -- it sounds more like they've done 100% bad which is false. Hey now Admin!! We're a anti-loria board. No compliments for him! I'm waiting to be accused of being Loria in disguise. :lol

That is what many reasonable people think and rightfully so. There is balance, and it is skewed toward the negative. I even doubt that even if the team was competitive to the end but came up short, this would not have happened. The 2.2 attendance vs 2.7 projected does not equate to the $60 million drop in payroll, nor will it look any better when we jettison Nolasco out of here in a few months. Loria gave everyone the one year as a thank you, and now back to the way things were.

February 11, 201313 yr Wait, Ricky is still on the team? I honestly thought he got moved. No, we kept all the winners on the team.
