Coghlan also gives the bench another left-handed option. Not to mention Hernandez might be exposed to waivers, but it also means someone has to claim him... and I don't see that happening.
March 26, 201313 yr Correct me if I'm wrong, but to claim someone off waivers don't you have to add them to your 25 man roster? Brings me back to my point, and I agree with bender... WHO would claim him?

Why is this the case exactly? At least Gorkys has a position. Y'know, after looking at the stats, I can't really see why not Gorkys over Coghlan. Gorkys has a much, MUCH better arm than Chris does, as well as better ability in the outfield. My only thought would be because Cogs is a lefty bat, but that's it. Stats are very similar this spring.

Gorkys has a much, MUCH better arm than Chris does, as well as better ability in the outfield. My only thought would be because Cogs is a lefty bat, but that's it. Stats are very similar this spring. Unfortunately, I think Coghlan is going to make the team, and get a lot of playing time in CF. Redmond doesn't seem to like Ruggiano very much. He's indicated that it'll likely be a platoon of some sort in CF.

March 27, 201313 yr Didn't Coghlan have a solid spring last year too? Only to be sent down in May. He made the opening day roster, pretty sure he "won" it in the spring.
March 28, 201313 yr So they're both making it I guess. Where did you get that idea? Kearns officially made the team so I highly doubt they both make it. Looks like we will know tomorrow...
