This is a huge year for the Marlins as far as the draft is concern. We have 5 picks within the first 80.

I really wish Mark Appel would fall to #6

Ehhh, they will screw it up....

D.J. Peterson from new mexico should be one of those picks. and kevin brown from bryant, lower pick mind you. hell and lets throw mike Papi a pick too, third round. actually, no, none of these people just kris bryant from san diego.

Clint Frazier or that other HS OF I bet

It's gonna be Bryant, Frazier, or Meadows for us. Even if you wanted Appel, we wouldn't pay what Boras wants.

As a Marlin and UNM fan, I would be thrilled if the Marlins decided to draft Peterson. He has done nothing but mash since coming on campus. You have to wonder how much the elevation of Albuquerque factors into his numbers though. I think Kris Bryant would be the safer pick.

Appel and Gray will never make it to us. Neither will Bryant. Sadly this draft is not that great compared to a few years ago. I would love to get Meadows.

I'm draft eligible in a year, keep a look out for ya boy

You'll get drafted in the 98th round.

I'd go in the 40th as a favor to a team owner who my dad is good friends with. Then I'll become one of the all time best hitting catchers in MLB history.

Also in Baseball can you trade draft picks?

I think very, very specific draft picks, yeah. Not sure which ones, though.

Only between first and second rounds (supplemental) and second and third rounds (supplemental).

New as of last year

Yeah, something about lottery picks or whatever? I remember the Gaby/Gorkys trade involved one of those picks.

Only competitive balance picks can be traded, the Marlins were the first team to acquire one.

Ok, yeah, those. We received one through the trade previously mentioned.

Hopefully in the next CBA they will just let teams trade draft picks, period. It's pointless not to have that option now that there's a hard slotting system in place.

The Marlins have the 6, 35, 44, 73, and 80th picks. Baseball America has Indiana State lefty Sean Manaea, Georgia High School outfielder Austin Meadows on the Marlins rader with the 6th pick, also if still available San Diego outfielder Kris Bryant or UNC third baseman Colin Moran. Appel's signability would certainly keep the Marlins from selecting him.

How about no high schoolers?

"That's so marlins"

Stanton and Yelich and Fernandez were high schoolers.

Just pick the right high schoolers.

I have full faith in the front office to pick a winner. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while, and Beinfest is long overdue to pick a good one.

Yelich and Fernandez.

Heaney has been good, as well. He's been spot on the past 3 drafts in the first.

Apparently, Heaney hasn't even pitched this year. Hmm.

A couple of days ago, he tweeted that he's healthy and is just throwing extended innings. Says he should be back in 2-3 weeks.
