June 11, 201313 yr What position should we focus on in a potential Nolasco deal? I realize that Nolasco is probably only a #4/5 on a quality playoff contender so I'm not expecting too much, just thinking that 3b now isn't the dire issue it was a couple of weeks ago. Now you could plug in Cox or Lucas or whatever for 2014 and then (perfect world) you get Moran in 2015. Or do you still target an ML-ready 3B in case the team starts to turn it around next year? Forget about the outfield of course. So.... SS? Find a backup plan with more bat in case Hech never hits? C? Brantly still a work in progress and there's some minor league depth with Barnes & maybe still Realmuto but certainly room for improvement. 1B? Until LoMo has a healthy productive season there's still questions, though the possibility of moving one of our OF to 1b helps somewhat. 3B? Moran shouldn't take long but it's still a thin position for the org and you don't want to assume he's going to have immediate success. Or could just pick up more arms, we may see 1 or more relievers dealt too so at the very least there'll be room in the pen...
June 11, 201313 yr We'll probably just hold on to him and let him walk after the season. Or re-sign him for 8 years $180,000,000 cause he's a winner.
June 11, 201313 yr Even though I HATE to trade good players within the devision do you think the braves would give us Evan Gattis and maybe a couple of prospect for Ricky nolasco? I like Brantly but we have no catching depth.

They could use Ricky!

The Braves really need a setup guy with Venters and O'Flaherty out for the year so I think they'd be interested if we do a little 3-way beefcake deal with the Brewers. We get: Evan Gattis, Yovani Gallardo & Aramis Ramirez Brewers get: Stanton Braves get: Ricky Nolasco & John Axford John Axford is the key to the deal. Every team wants him.

I think we should just acquire the best player we could possibly acquire regardless of position.

June 11, 201313 yr I was looking at the giants top prospects because there was a rumor that they had called about nolasco and i wouldnt mind a deal for a catcher named Andrew susac and a 3b named Adam Duvall. They are like the 13th and 18th best prospects the giants have and they fill need positions
June 11, 201313 yr He's not trolling. It's not trolling if he believes it. He doesn't believe it. FFS this is low level trolling bs I used to do when I was 12. Apparently not low-level enough for people to see it...

Old for A-ball but he'd been raking, and now doing just fine in AA too. He's not in the Giants' top 10 lists anywhere so maybe under the radar a bit (or just sucks) but could be worth taking a shot on.
June 11, 201313 yr They should be targeting SS more than anything. I don't think that "perennial all-star" Adeiny Hechavarria will hit well enough to be a solid everyday player. Yeah, he has great defense but a .555 OPS. That amounts to a -0.9 WAR.
June 11, 201313 yr They shouldn't be targeting a specific position. Maybe not just one, but they absolutely should be trying to fill in specific areas where depth is needed.
