Carlos Rodon Slipping: Would You Take Him?

Featured Replies

You agreeing with me makes me think I could be wrong in my opinion. So dont.

Although my opinions may not be popular, I'm often right, fortunately for you.

You are rarely right about anything. Maybe in your mind, and only then because you constantly ignore people when they explain why you are a moron.

I can admit a few failures. Zack Cox is the obvious choice thus far, but being optimistic about Cox was more because there was nothing else at third to be optimistic about at all. Now that we have a few real options, it's easier to write that off. Chris Coghlan is another, for more of the same reason as Cox.

Other than that, I don't think I have been too far off about anything or anybody. I would be open to your suggestions. Also, no need for name calling, I didn't insult you and I don't expect to be insulted.

You are off on everything. You expect every single player to play to their best case scenario. Your irrational mancrush on Saltalamacchia, McGhee, and Jones. Ignoring all statistical evidence Your opinions are unpopular because they are beyond stupid.

I wouldnt say I get much wrong, and I at least own up to it when I do. I was wrong about Willingham, but otherwise, the only players I have really said anything about where either as awful as I postulated(Mitre, Olivo, Bonifacio, Solano, Hechavarria), not as good as many people expected them to be(Gaby Sanchez), or bad draft picks(Chad James). I really dont make many predictions.

You over exaggerate too much. You said Gaby Sanchez would not have an ISO over .100 or something like that. You said Mark Buehrle will never ever come to Miami.

First of all, I didn't like the LoMo trade/Jones signing. I might be wrong about those moves, but I wasn't optimistic about that. Salty, yes, I was and still am very optimistic considering he's like the 2nd best catcher in baseball thus far. McGehee I rtefrained from making any predictions and the ONLY thing I said about that move was "he should be better than what we had".

But none of that was rational.

Saltalamacchia is going to come back down to earth. He has had one good season, and it wasnt even that good, as a hitter. In a contract year. In the most hitter friendly park in baseball. He is a backup catcher talent wise the Marlins are locked into paying starter money for the next few years. They overreacted and overpaid for someone who is just not very good.

Fair enough, but when I made the Buehrle comment, I was not aware the White Sox or Cardinals had no interest in him, and both teams could have had him for much less.

Why do we have so many dicks on these forums? Goddamn...

I agree. We must be nice to each other. That's what Jose Fernandez would want.

Salty was a starter, for several seasons, for the World Champion Boston Red Sox. Not a back up. Also, Fenway is not the best hitters park in baseball, especially for a primarily LH hitter. And 3-years, $21 Million was a steal for a player that MLB Trade Rumors projected at 4-years, $40 Million.

All of what you said was wrong.

Except for none of it. Yes Saltalamacchia started 3 years in Boston, and they were World Champions while he was there. They finished 3rd and 5th, respectively, his other two years there. And those 3 years are the only good years, SLG, wise, he has had. He is a horrible hitter otherwise, has no plate discipline, doesnt draw walks, and strikes out a ton. I dont care what MLB trade rumors says, I dont care how he hit in Fenway, Saltalamacchia is a backup caliber catcher. He has had exactly one decent year, and it wasnt even that good.

That is bull...fucking...shit.

I'd take Rondon and shut him down the rest of the year.

Let him know he'll be in the rotation in 2015 if his velocity is back and he has a strong spring. Let him know its not a lost year but a chance to rest his arm after what that fucking school has done to him.

If everyone says he's ML ready with his FB Velo back up- I want him. None of this high ceiling bullshit with prep players (Allison, James).

It's funny how you still can't admit you were wrong about this even years later.

Imagine...

Fernandez

Rodon

Eovaldi

Heaney

Koehler

That would be the best rotation in the ML

Henderson Alvarez is a better pitcher than Tom Koehler.

I'd take Rondon and shut him down the rest of the year.

Not really fair to lump Allison in with that. He wasnt a bust talent wise, he just made really poor life choices. He showed flashes when he got clean finally of what could have been.

Coors field? Hello?

This is the comment I expected from you. Your comment purposely makes it sound like Fenway wasn't one of the top hitters parks in the league. Even for lefty hitters it is clearly one of the top 2 or 3 hitters parks in baseball. Saltalamacchia without a damn doubt benefited greatly from playing half his games at Fenway.

He's a good player and a starter, but he's going to regress from where he is now, given that his current success is BABIP driven, he produced a career best .804 last season and was a .700+ OPS guy previously in his career, so he's definitely not a .900+ OPS player like he's performing now, and we play at Marlins Park.

I just found the comment that Fenway didn't help Salty to be incredibly ridiculous.

Point was potential doesn't mean anything a take someone who can work now-

Alison just happened to be someone who came to mind.

James was a valid point though- prep. Potential should be valued less than major league average.

What was the quote in trouble with the curve? "You don't take a project with the number two pick?"

Same idea.

I want a house where I just have to call FPL and turn the fucking lights on.
