DD has put up .7 WAR this year in 151 AB. While the errors are up, his UZR/150 is actually better this year so yes his defense sucks, but it's not any worse than last year. Back to my point, we just sent down a guy who put up .7 WAR in 151 AB. Marlins baseball aka fuckheads who don't know shit about baseball.

Baker is so much worse than Dietrich defensively. Watching him play second base reminds me of myself playing second base. He can field the balls hit right at him fine, but he has zero range. Like, much worse than Derek.

I think it's premature to make that rigid determination on a 24-year old. He was a decent defender in the minors and defense at that position is somewhat teachable. He sucks right now but lets not rule him out forever and ever like it's impossible he can improve at second.

Reports on his defense in the minors were not very favorable from what I recall, especially for second base. His arm was the only plus side of his game, which doesn't help nearly as much at second. His range was always lacking and that's not something you can really teach.
