June 5, 201412 yr Oh s*** I forgot about Anderson Perez. Why did we stop running with that joke? Because Henderson is actually good.
June 5, 201412 yr Because Henderson is actually good. I'm not sure what Anderson's success has anything to do with how big an idiot Samson is.
June 5, 201412 yr I'm not sure what Anderson's success has anything to do with how big an idiot Samson is. Because the joke was funny due to the fact that Henderson was nobody, so much so that Samson didn't know his name. But now... He good! Back to the draft. It will be Aiken or Rodon, whichever Houston doesn't pick.

It will be Aiken or Kolek, whichever Houston doesn't pick. I think the joke was/is funny because Samson is an idiot rather than anything to do with AP. Why don't you think Rodon if he falls? Price tag? All indications point to the fish wanting him if he falls.

June 5, 201412 yr Having Rodon pitch in the Majors this year would be a huge mistake. So yeah, he'll probably come up in August.
June 5, 201412 yr Having Rodon pitch in the Majors this year would be a huge mistake. So yeah, he'll probably come up in August. Considering the price Loria will have to pay for him, I think it's extremely plausible he gets called up.
June 5, 201412 yr If Marlins select Rodon expect him to come up this season if Marlins are in the playoff hunt by September.
June 5, 201412 yr Something to think about if we get Rodon. Our June/July 2015 rotation: Fernandez Heaney Eovaldi Rodon Alvarez Wowzers

June 5, 201412 yr Two premiere leftie prospects with the best young righty in the game. The other 2 righties ain't crap, either.
June 5, 201412 yr I think it's Rodon or Jackson. It's a deep pitching class from all accounts. If the Astros pass on Rodon then we will probably take him. If he doesn't fall to us we will probably take Jackson who is considered the best bat in the draft and then go with pitching with the #36 and #41 picks.

If Aiken goes #1 as ost recent mocks predicts, then Miami will go Rodon for sure. If Rodon goes #1, then Miami will probably take Aiken, as he is very polished as a pitcher and can see the big leagues as early as 19, younger than Jose. Alex Jackson is even projected to go 6 if he gets past Miami, meaning his value is really in the 5-7 range. Meaning, he is picked as an underslot, which is possible, but you have better players (particularly pitchers) in this draft that can underslot as well ( Kolek, Aiken, Nola, Hoffman, etc..). Jackson is perhaps the best hitter in this draft, but alot of his value depends on position, and isn't likely to stay at C. Also, they're question questions about his hit tool and mechanics. I don't want another Skipworth. Sorry.

June 5, 201412 yr Wild Card calling someone slow in a discussion about baseball, when he proves on a daily basis he knows absolutely nothing about baseball, is priceless. #1. Rodon, from a pure stuff standpoint, is not graded significantly higher than either of the top prep arms. #2. Rodon will be very expensive. #3. He is arguably the largest injury risk of any top draft pick in recent memory. #4. The risk is as high as the reward. Basically, he is a very risky pitcher to take due to his overuse in college and the high price tag he commands.

Basically, he is a very risky pitcher to take due to his overuse in college and the high price tag he commands. #1 From a stuff standpoint, he is the best pitcher in the draft. His slider is considered one of, if not the best ever entering the draft. #2 Anyone at #2 overall will be expensive. #3 Some see an injury risk, others see the most durable pitcher in the draft. #4 He is literally the safest pick in the draft even if he has Tommy John one day.
June 5, 201412 yr #1. He might have better stuff, but not overall. The part about the slider is false. #2. There different levels of expense, ones that really handicap you in later rounds, ones that dont as much. #3. Not a single person looks at his college workload and says "most durable". They think "what the fuck was his coach thinking"? #4. This is jut an absurd statement on your part.

There different levels of expense, ones that really handicap you in later rounds, ones that dont as much. #3. Not a single person looks at his college workload and says "most durable". They think "what the f*** was his coach thinking"? #4. This is jut an absurd statement on your part. #1 You're retarded. I have read several times that scouts think he has the best amateur slider ever and I am happy to repost it for you to read as well. #2 Signing the second overall pick, whoever it is, is a necessary expense and you worry about the signability of the other picks when you make them, not this one. #3 Of course the coach was an idiot, but the work load hasn't fazed him. You have to be blind to not look at the work load and think "man, this kid could probably throw 200 innings in the majors next year". #4 You really are slow if you don't consider Rodon a safe pick. Just look at the statistics comparing top 5 prep picks against top 5 collegiate picks. It's not even close.
June 5, 201412 yr Rodons off speed pitch slider is considered a 70 pitch already, and already considered an viable out pitch at the MLB level right now He has put up 3 dominant seasons against far better competition than Aiken or Kolek. He is as MLB ready as they come. As for the workload, that doesn't really matter as much as you think because pitchers in general are volatile. Mechanics and delivery have a far more effect on health of a pitcher than workload, and Rodon seems to have an easy and repeatable delivery. Kolek is a disaster in that he has below average command, he can't throw sliders against lefties because he can't locate his off speed pitches, and he's poorly conditioned. Aiken doesn't have a pitch as effective as Rodons slider although he has 3 above average pitches with a developing cutter and good overall mechanics, but as a HS pitcher, he's still more risky than a Rodon that has faced better competition. Rodon before this season was a lock at #1 last 2 season if eligible. He was said to be the best lefty prospect since Price. This season shouldn't make it any different.
